Happy Sweet 16 Philosophy!

If you’re no stranger to my blog than you know I love skin cleansers and I’ve written about how great my two favorite products are. One being Marcelle which I blogged about many many times, and the other which has become a recent favorite within the past year, is the Philosophy brand. I first tried out Philosophy products when I went down to the BlogHer Conference which was held in California back in August 2011. A few of us girls went to the Philosophy booth on a daily basis. At the end of the “trade show” I was known for loving their stuff and just chatting with the girls who were there hosting.

Back a few months ago I ended up reviewing two moisturizers from Philosophy, you can check those out here. Just recently, I was in contact with my PR rep from Philosophy and I love it when I get a chance to try new products from them. A few weeks ago it was Philosophy’s Sweet 16th Birthday/Anniversary and I was sent the The Sweet 16 body wash/shampoo/bubble bath to try out.

Let me tell you something. You have to be a Cinnamon fan to use this body wash. While I’m not the biggest fan of Cinnamon (or even vanilla scented things for that matter), I did use it a couple of times.

I even purchased a loofa to test out the body wash! It lathered up quite nicely in the shower and left my skin …obviously clean. I didn’t use it as a bubble bath nor shampoo.

I got my boyfriend to smell it and his eyes just about rolled back into his head with delight. He’s always buying himself cinnamon buns while I turn my nose up at them. I mean, they taste fine — but they’re not my go-to treat if I was to pick something out on my own.

All in all, I thought it was a good product. I’m not going to say it was fantastically great or anything. Just because I personally wasn’t a fan of the scent itself. I love more fruity scents like mango, lime, peach, pineapple and orange scents.

Not to worry, this product will not go to waste. In fact, I’m carting it home on the airplane with me and taking it to Newfoundland when I go there in a few weeks, and then I’ll give it to my Mom or Sister-In-Law! They both love cinnamon. :)

What body wash do you currently use? Or do you use bar soap like I used to do before receiving this product? haha!

Under Armour Gotta Have It Bra

Yep you got that right folks. I’m back with another sports bra review from Under Armour. This time I won’t be showing you all, not-so-revealing photos of myself sportin’ the sports bra.

Here she be, freshly washed.

Under Armour — Women’s Gotta Have It Sports Bra. ($29.99 CDN)

I didn’t take photos of it when it was brand new with the tags on it, because I completely forgot. They are long gone now, but if you want more information about it, it’s all available online.

Women’s Gotta Have It Sports Bra by Under Armour

This bra isn’t as high impact as some of the other bras that I currently own. But I knew that from the very beginning. As mentioned in my previous review, I wore this bra to CrossFit many times as well and get this — without a hitch! I’m loving this hot pink bra much more than other one I was sent from Under Armour.  I had issues with that one riding up on the base of my neck. Where as this one wasn’t as high cut. I gladly pointed out the flaws and issues I had with the other bra, even if the review wasn’t the most positive. I hope that I could help out in some way if they ever do a re-design of it. Right?

Anyway back to my lovely pink bra.It has the perfect height, to go along with the perfect colored bra.

Here is the inside of the bra. No extra padding and since I’m small chested I don’t need an extreme amount of support, so this type of sports bra works fine for me.

As for any color bleeding off of the super hot pink fabric itself? I don’t own any light colored tank tops with the exception of this Lululemon one, but didn’t notice any of the dye bleeding at all. Which of course, is great.

Have you tried anything from Under Armour before? What are your thoughts, if you have?

Cortex: Clipless curling iron

Flat iron experts is so good to me. I’ve gotten to review a number of items from their online store over the past few years. I’ve given mostly positive reviews in the past about the hair straighteners, curling irons or new-age crimping irons. But in all honesty I didn’t know what I could compare the products that I was reviewing, to. More specifically, I didn’t know what to do with curling irons. My hands were always gimpy and the barrels that I chose to review, were frankly too large for my hair. It just gave me volume, without curl. Which is great seeing as I have fine limp hair, but some days I just want a little curl on the ends.

It’s not because any of the the products were crap. It was because I am such a gimp when it comes to doing anything with my hair. If I wanted curly hair I’d have to fiddle with my flat iron and maneuver it in a way to create odd looking curls. It took forever.  Which meant I’d rarely take the time to do that to my hair. Not to mention the fact that I went over certain pieces of hair multiple times to achieve a look I could go out in public with. Damage your hair more, sure!

I think all of the products were meant for super long, super thick hair. I e-mailed my rep that I deal with at Flat Iron Experts and asked if I could review a smaller curling wand, one that was clipless.

This thing heats up so fast. To the right (above) the digital screen temperature just rises so fast. It’s kinda fun to watch it heat up.

Here is the base of the iron, and where all of the tubes (wands?) plug into. Idiot-proof for sure.

Some specs.

Lord almighty I had no idea what a world of difference not having a clamp on your curling iron could do for your hair. And how much less time it takes up!

I was sent the Cortex 4 in 1 clipless curling wand and have been using it on the days that I don’t wash my hair. Which is a lot. The first time I used it my hair came out like this. I used the smallest barrel which is the 1.5-3.4 inch. It gradually gets smaller toward the tip of the barrel.

Okay don’t let the photo below fool you. That was just my first attempt at using it. Not a bad one I may add, but please…keep reading. It gets better. Oh boy does it ever.

On the left was right after I curled it. On the right is when I combed through my hair with my fingers to make it less prom-like. Not bad, right? I mean, could be better. It looks a little messy on the right, and just too perfect on the left. I didn’t curl my ends, and you can definitely notice it, so I made sure to include the ends of my hair the next time I did it.

I’ve gotten the hang of it so well that I curl my hair multiple days during the week now! It’s so easy and super fast. The camera flash darkens my hair by the way, I didn’t dye it lol.

I even styled the ends of my hair for girls night the other evening.

Even though I say I’ve gotten the hang of it well, it really wasn’t a huge ordeal for it to work magic on my hair. I’ve used it probably 6 times and it’s been just as easy as the first time. I’ve decided to film and put together a video of how I curl my hair in the morning now. Watch me curl my hair in this video!

Super easy right? You can buy the Cortex 4 in One Curling Iron here.

Thanks to Flat Iron Experts for sending this product over to me, to review.
