EOS — Evolution Of Smooth

What the heck am I holding in my hands?

It’s an EOS (Evolution Of Smooth) lip balm! Crazy right?EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet

Regardless of how awesome the product may be inside, I think the best part about EOS products has definitely got to be the eye catching packaging they’ve come up with. Everything is egg shaped, and so cute.

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben free. It’s also enriched with Shea butter and Vitamin E.

If I didn’t know the scent of the Strawberry Sorbet, I would’ve said it smelled a little like play-dough. But now that I got the scent figured out I now realize that it is in fact Strawberry. It’s really pleasant, despite the first initial sniff of the product, unknowingly what scent it was. Oopsie.

The packaging of the EOS lip balms either comes in a cardboard package like this, or wrapped up in plastic wrap like mine did. The one shown above is a HoneySuckle scent. Also amazing.

As a Graphic Designer, I’m always on my computer at work. Meaning I’m constantly touching my keyboard and mouse. My hands get so unbelievably dry all year round I even have been nick-named Lizard Hands by some people in the past. So I have a constant stock pile of lotions at my desk just so I don’t have that scaly look to my hands all day long. Not attractive.

Another great eye catching design by EOS.

EOS Everyday Hand lotion in a light fruity scent. It’s 97% natural and comes in a few different scents. It smells so clean, like you just washed your hands kind of scent. It is at my desk at work, and it’s important for me to use a hand lotion that doesn’t’ leave a film once rubbed in. You know that feeling, right? I don’t want greasy palm prints on my mouse, nor residue left on my keyboard. This EOS hand lotion is so convertible that you can easily slip it into your pocket or purse and it won’t leak, or take up much room.

You may notice that the EOS hand lotion may look really small but due to the unique, sleek packaging it looks like you are getting less. Remember to look at the millilitres or ounces that you’re getting. I compared my drugstore hand cream to the EOS Hand Lotion and EOS had 4ml less. Not bad, especially since EOS retails for $3.99 CDN and my hand cream was $6.00.

The EOS Hand Lotions aren’t yet available to us Canadians. But they’ll be launching in May/June. But you can pick up EOS products at major retailers such as Chapters/Indigo, RW&Co, and Walmart.

Have you tried out any EOS products before? When EOS first came out with their Smooth Sphere Lip Balm’s I picked up two at RW&Co in the Fresh Mint scent. One to give to my bestie in Ottawa for Christmas and one for myself to keep. Such great products!

April GlossyBox

So is GlossyBox’s new motto: Good things come to those who wait?

Everyone has been itching, and sitting impatiently, waiting for their April GlossyBox to come in the mail. It finally arrived on the very last day of the month.

One thing that bothers me about beauty subscription boxes, is that there never is a set date as to when they get mailed out. If you ask them on their Facebook fan page, or on twitter, the companies come back with a vague answer. In this case, GlossyBox said their boxes will be mailed out during the month of April. Well, jeeze I sure hope so. Since it is a monthly box. Sure enough, it arrived.

Let’s take a peak inside shall we?

April GlossyBox

I knew this box was heavy when I recieved it in the mail! Look at all that stuff.

Can you spot the three full sized products? Boom. Nice job GlossyBox.

A closer look at April’s GlossyBox. Remember, GlossyBox costs $15/month + free shipping, and look at all the goodies we have, add up those prices for yourself. The box more than pays for itself with this:

Skin Care Shower Gel by Elizabeth Grant (Full size! Retails for $20.00)
Aveeno Positively Radient Daily Moisturizer (Full size! Retails for $22.99)
Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara (Full size! Retails for $12.50)
Wella Brilliance Conditioner (Sample size)
Wella Brilliance Treatment (Sample size)

Don’t forget our black little envelope. Inside?

Another sample!

This is Marcelle’s BB Cream. Check out my review on Marcelle BB cream, I own and still use this product.

Value wise, this is the best bang for my buck for being my third GlossyBox that I’ve ever received. Third time’s a charm, right? Either that, or three strikes and you’re out. But no, I will continue to subscribe to GlossyBox as I am pleased with what I have received this month.

I purchased this box myself with my GlossyDot points!

Parissa mini wax strips

It’s been quite a number of years since I tried waxing strips. I’m not sure why I stopped because I remember them working quite well.

In this case, I tried out Parissa’s mini wax strips which you can find literally anywhere. I’ve spotted them at Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, and even the grocery store. This particular box of brow shaper wax strips retails anywhere from $7-$9 Canadian.

Parissa Brow Shaper mini wax strips, straight out of the box.

I had to remember how to use these strips of wax, so the first strip was immediately garbage. It barely took off any hair. I simply pressed it onto my lower eyebrow and ripped it off too soon. Danget!

They come in perfect sizes for brows, and I even chopped mine into half again once I opened one strip to fit under certain parts of my brows. Four times the use in one of these little dudes!

There’s plenty to go around too. Don’t you love apartment living with retro counter tops? Lovely isn’t it.

On the instructions (which are so cute by the way) it says to never put the wax strip onto a freshly waxed area. I don’t know why, but I never listen to instructions (and lord knows I’ve learned my lesson — read instructions! Hey, I’m a taurus, we’re known to be stubborn). Plus my first sheet didn’t work out and obviously missed a lot of hair on my brows.

I got the hang of things on my second strip. Note to all users! Place the wax strip where needed, and press on the strip with your warm fingers which then heats the wax up. Leave your finger on there for 20 seconds or so, and then rip the bugger off as quickly as you can.

Be careful not to go too wax-happy otherwise you’re left with a thin penciled in look and that’s not pretty. Big eyebrows are in! Plus, eyebrow hairs take forever to grow back. Trust me on this one, I ended up taking the whole “tail end” of my brow when I first got into plucking them. No photos will be posted  on this blog, I don’t need anyone to blackmail me ;)

Obviously these wax strips aren’t going to be as accurate as hot wax on your brows. But it’s definitely a cheaper alternative, and who cares if you have to go in with your tweezers to get those stubborn hairs after wards? It’s more money in your pocket, or… less time spent in front of the mirror if you plucked them before.

I love the smoothness of freshly waxed skin. The blue azulene oil removed any excess wax that was left over on my skin.

Have you ever tried out at home wax kits? Whether it be mini wax strips like these Parissa ones, or hair removal cream (Omg remember my nair disaster?? SO painful!).
