Sneak Peak into the bedroom

I’ve gotten a few requests in the past to do an apartment tour, or even bedroom tour. While I’m not comfortable showing everything, I thought I’d just show some snippits of the place, so you all can get an idea of how we like to decorate our place. So, to start things off — here’s a sneak peak into our bedroom!

Duvet cover: IKEA
Grey sheets: Home Outfitters
Yellow pillow: From a home boutique in St. John’s, Newfoundland which closed down. Fun fact: The store was owned by Chris’ ( from the show Steven & Chris) Mother!
Large grey “velvet” pillows: IKEA

Bed photos recycled from this blog post.

I’ve replaced the paper lamp shown above (from IKEA) with this silly priced lamp, also from IKEA. I love my Urban Barn fake orchid that looks real! lol

My Fossil watch collection. Minus the cheap rose gold one I bought on eBay for fifteen bucks ha! Yes, there’s an orange haired troll doll in with my watches, along with a pink haired one, hidden in there somewhere. I had a collection of trolls as a kid, and only kept two.

Here are all of my tops. Winter, and summer. I think it’s time to purge some of this. Left-Right: Sweaters, Tanks, Plain tees, Blouses.

My makeup case. You can buy one here.

Oh yeah you guys. A purse piggy bank. I totally have money in it too. My Mom gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago.

Most of my shoes, excluding winter boots, and a few flats. I don’t like this setup since it looks messy. But it does the trick, for now.

Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown Foundation, and Bobbi Brown eye cream in an Anthropologie bowl.

Loving my fake (designer?) rose gold buckle bracelet from eBay. I put all of my bracelets that I wear on a regular basis in this pineapple shaped tea light candle holder from Bath & Body Works.

A painting I did ten (!!!) years ago. My favorite one I’ve ever done. I blacked out my last name, for obvious reasons.

Well that’s it you guys. Hope you enjoyed a small portion of the bedroom!

Spa day: at home!

We’re getting into the drier months now, and it’s time to focus on your skin not sucking into itself and shriveling up. Er, I mean.. it’s time to moisturize the heck out of your skin to keep having that summer glow! Right?

I’m one of the lucky ones who’ve never had major issues with their skin. I do find that my skin is a little sensitive (and reacts to certain eye creams: Warning, the following post shows a photo of me with an allergic reaction/puffy eyes) and it gets a little red, sometimes tight when I wash it with certain face washes.

I’ve been sticking to my skin care regime pretty faithfully. But for my facial wash, I now use Philosophy’s Purity cleanser, it’s gentle and I’ve never had any issues with it in the past 6 months of using it twice a day.

On a not so regular basis, I like to pamper my skin and do mud-masks and have a spa day in the comfort of my own home. I think that exfoliating your skin on a regular basis (at least once a week) is a pretty important step in anyone’s skin care routine. I’ve had this Philosophy’s micro exfoliating treatment laying around my apartment for a good 6+ months before I got the courage to use it. I won a huge beauty basket on Twitter, and this was inside. It looked intimating.

Reading the instructions scared me a little. The first step was applying the yellow jello-like goo. It was like a scrub, and I applied it all over my face (as you can see below). Then it was time for the second step – the activator. It caused a noticeable warming effect onto my skin. I was a little worried to be honest, but it didn’t burn. Just felt really warm. I left it on for the amount of time I was supposed to and washed it off with water and a wash cloth.

I can’t say I noticed a difference in my skins appearance, texture or smoothness. Perhaps one jar’s worth of this product isn’t enough to make an educated answer on how well it works for the skin. Perhaps it’s something one needs to use regularly to notice a difference.

Will I ever purchase this item myself? Probably not. It was neat while I tried it, but it didn’t wow me with results.

I am not affiliated with Philosophy, as I said I won this gift set at a Twitter party.

Summer carb addiction

I wish I had taken a photo of my supper tonight. I had another set of chicken wraps made with the always juicy Maple Leaf Prime chicken breasts.

I will never get sick of making these, or eating chicken altogether.

For the past few months all we’ve been eating is chicken or pork. That’s it. Sometimes fish. I should start diversifying our meals and get back onto doing my weekly menu’s. It definitely saves a lot of time, especially when you don’t have that much of it.

I know this isn’t a valid excuse, in fact it’s a great one because I’m keeping my health my #1 priority right now. My schedule is just honestly jam-packed in the evenings. I’m trying out new work out’s with my co-worker L. Yoga, TRX, Running, Climbing and of course keeping CrossFit going as well. I love keeping my workouts different from each other. That way I can never get bored.

I was like a starved gull there tonight and really didn’t feel like making anything gourmet-like. So it’s either been chicken wraps or chicken sandwiches on these new ACE chewy ciabatta buns found at Zehrs and Sobeys. They’re amazing!!

Okay so it looks like I’ve lied and I only eat those ciabatta buns. I do make those wraps at least once a week for either lunch or supper. I guess I’m too hungry to take a photo of them before I eat.

I even order them when I’m out at restaurants! You may remember this photo that I posted a few weeks ago, when I was up in Ottawa visiting my bestie.

I usually keep the recipe fairly the same with a few different variations to it:

  1. Fresh mushrooms
  2. Bell peppers
  3. Tomatoes
  4. Spring mix lettuce
  5. Boneless skinless maple leaf prime chicken breasts
  6. Ranch dressing

OR

  1. Grated cheese
  2. Red bell pepper
  3. Boneless skinless maple leaf prime chicken breasts
  4. Lettuce
  5. Roasted red pepper aoili

The last one listed is my go-to sandwich or wrap, it’s soo crunchy and fresh. Especially good served with a side of in season veggies.

I’ve scoped out the Maple Leaf Prime website for some new wrap ideas.

Like the Chicken Artichoke wrap (minus the olives) and…

I’m sure my Boyfriend would love the Buffalo Chicken wrap much more.

What is your favorite way to prepare chicken?

What meal to you make for you/your family when you don’t have much time?

You can find more information about Maple Leaf Prime on their Facebook page, Twitter, and even Pinterest!
