My CrossFit footwear

I’ve been wearing my pink and grey Nike Free Run 5.0’s to CrossFit since I bought them on eBay for my birthday in May 2011. Look how bright they were!

They are my favorite type of shoe to wear at CrossFit and to do short runs (5-10km) I’m not a huge runner and when I do run, it’s not for long distances, so I can get away with a bare minimum running shoe. They offer me support, they’re light weight and it doesn’t hurt that they come in super fun colors.

I could wear them to CrossFit, to go running in, and believe it or not – climbing. I do have my own climbing shoes (that look like ballet slippers, they’re very tight and conformed to your foot) but if I’m bringing someone new to the climbing gym who has never attended before. I tell them to wear a shoe where you can tie the laces tight and not have your foot feel like it’s moving around too much. Having too much of a sole on the bottom of your shoe, you won’t be able to feel the holds on the wall causing you to not have good footwork on the route.

Another shoe I’ve always had my eye on the Zoot’s. That’s what my Boyfriend runs in, when he races in Triathlons. They’re again, a nice flat minimal shoe which would be perfect for CrossFit and short running distances. Sport Chek fulfilled my request and sent me a pair. Unfortunately my usual size was too small, but I had no problem exchanging them for the larger size while I was in Toronto one time. I’ve been wearing these to CrossFit in conjunction with the pink Nike’s.

Have you ever tried CrossFit?
I can’t believe I’m coming up on year TWO in February!

What type of shoes do you wear to workout in?
Nike’s are my first choice and then it’s the Zoots.

Now I have to jet and research some wide selection of inuit pos system… I’ll explain why, later.

Philosophy Eyes Wide Open

Disclosure: I was sent this product for free. Opinions are my own.

0.5 oz retails for $30 USD or $39 CDN.

I’ve read a few reviews on this before sitting down and writing mine. This particular Philosophy product doesn’t seem to be a huge winner for many people. Fortunately for me I have minimal puffiness and I can see it working on its own. But if you have puffy eyes in the morning when you wake up, I would pair this product with an eye cream.

The consistency of the light weight eye gel is quite watery and easy to squeeze out but didn’t have trouble squeezing too much out. I did like that it spread very easily onto the under eye area so there was no tugging, or massaging into my skin. It just glided on. I also have a very sensitive eye area and it didn’t disturb that area all. I could use this twice a day without any stinging or burning around the eye.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:

– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Synthetic Fragrances
– Synthetic Dyes
– Petrochemicals
– Phthalates
– GMOs
– Triclosan

Suggested Usage:
-Ideal for morning use to help refresh tired, puffy eyes.
-You may also pair it with another eye cream in the evening to help eyes look refreshed when you wake up.

Precautions:
-For external use only.
-Use only as directed.
-Keep away from eyes and mucosa. If contact occurs, rinse well with water.
-If irritation, redness or itching occurs reduce frequency of application. If symptoms persist, discontinue use and consult physician.

Do you use an eye cream?
I use the Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair cream daily, and try to use it twice a day (morning/night) it’s so thick and luxurious and keeps my under eye area soo hydrated!

Are you all ready for Christmas?
I sure am! I’m so excited to see everyone’s faces when I give them their presents. I can’t say who for sure I’m excited the MOST about since I don’t want to give ANYTHING away, but I’ll definitely be blogging about it. I also want to pick up a really nice table cloth or table skirt for the kitchen, to festive it up a bit.

Modernizing one piece at a time

I made two of these modern, clean looking pen holders for my office at work. Total cost? Four bucks.

You can change this up and have it in your bathroom to hold your toothbrushes (not so sanitary), or makeup brushes.

It’s very minimalistic and neat, my co-worker said, something like you’d see in print catalogs. Ooh la la.

Oooh. You can even bring this into the kitchen and store your wooden spoons or utensils. Right? How fantastic would that look on a bigger scale?

I got this idea from Sephora, except they use clear flower-bead filler to display all of their loot. I didn’t like the look of that. I’ve seen a lot of YouTube videos where the people have copied and it just looks too ordinary for me right now.

Then, I thought of the bamboo shoots I had displayed in my bathroom at my parents house YEARS ago. It was a small rectangle glass, with black rocks you’d put at the bottom of a fish tank. I had 3 bamboo shoots lined up and loved the look of it. But I decided I didn’t want black again this time. So I went to the dollar store and picked up two small circular vases and bought some white pea beans at the grocery store near by.  This is what I came up with, for my office.

Pinterest worthy, no? :)
