My new tattoo

It’s time to do some laundry tonight. Sometimes I let it pile up and take up all of the washers available in our apartment complex.

It’s funny, because we usually only have athletic wear and towels to wash mostly. I know when I run out of my favorite workout tops from Under Armour, MPG Sport, and Lululemon, it’s time to do laundry. I need my favorite items to work out in!

workout-clothesHey. Gotta have some visual interest in a blog post, right? :)

The boyf is training very hard for his upcoming Ironman in Mont Tremblant in August, so he’s going through laundry like it’s a hot potato. Sorry, couldn’t think of a better description than that. It’s incredible the work outs he puts in. For instance on Saturday & Sunday he ran 20km, Monday he biked 210km, Tuesday he ran 32 at a “slow” pace of what my fast pace is: 5:15min/km’s. Ya. His slow runs are my going full-tilt so that’s why we don’t train together ;) I don’t want to feel like I’m slowing him down even though he’s always up for going out on a run with me regardless of the speed.

CrossFit WodsI’m taking the night off CrossFit. I’ll be going 4x this week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) and tonight I’m going to do a little work out at home from my iPad.

chatelaine all star movesI downloaded the Chatelaine 10-minute fitness app. I’ve been using it for a few days but tomorrow I’ll let you know how it all works.

I’ve been going to my pedicure lady for the past few years and last weekend she had a going away party since her family is moving to Cambodia, where I got this new tattoo of mine. Don’t freak out Mom and Dad – it’s fake. Who would’ve guessed? It’s a stencil which she painted body glue on, then brushed glitter of my choice. It won’t budge. It’s been on since the weekend.

fish tattooI thought it was “just a fish” until I was told it was finding nemo. Oops. I’ve never seen the movie, can you believe it?

I sure will miss that sweet Sophie. I get regular pedicures in the summer because even though I rarely I don’t wear opened toed shoes often because I’m cold pretty much constantly. I do like to have my feet pretty. Especially now that I have had a black toe nail RIGHT before summer started, and this happened last year as well. What luck, huh? Especially it being on my big honkin’ toe, too. TMI for you all? Sorry!

I’m out! Have a good night all.

Where is Summer?

Who knew that here in Ontario I’d be wearing full fledged warm up jackets for working out well into June? Where is the scorching weather, Mother Nature? I moved from Newfoundland to Ontario to get away from the damp cold springs.

Well guess the weather waited a bit while I got to wear my new jacket for a few weeks at least. It’s the perfect time to add in that I’ve been wearing this sweet Under Armour jacket from Sport Chek.

Outfit deets: black Under Armour Studio Lux Jacket, GAP leggings and Reebok Nano sneakers. Now before inquiring minds ask, I received the Under Armour jacket from my Sport Chek friends, as I’m still part of the My Better Campaign. Under-Armour-jacket

I’m probably the only person who is this excited about thumb loops.  Genuine smiles right there folks. thumb-loops

The quality of the jacket is so luxe. It’s thicker than my all-time favorite warmup jacket by bright pink MPG, and thicker than the zip up jacket from Costco. I suppose it’s thicker and higher quality than the latter because it retails for $99 Canadian. under-armour-warmupjacket

I’ve recently purged my entire wardrobe and have kept a lot of stuff, sure — hey I’m female. But definitely kept in mind what makes me feel good and what I enjoy wearing. This being one of the few warm up jackets I bring with me to CrossFit.The jacket can be worn as a workout top or on a casual day with jeans. Here I am zipping it up. Careful not to expose myself to you.  zip-up-under-armour

I should start adding in my (many) blooper pictures. I think that adds a little interest to the blog posts. Keeps it true. blooper-pic It washes up well too. I’ve had the jacket since mid-May and had to wash it more than once due to the fact that I sweated in it many times. I don’t put anything in the dyer besides underwear and socks, so I have no idea if it shrinks. But I’d advise you not to put it in the dryer if you were worried. And so far? No pilling up — I hate it when clothing does that.

30 day Paleo Challenge winners

Earlier Saturday afternoon I headed in to finally find out the 30 day Paleo Challenge that I completed at my local CrossFit box. There were over 30 people who took the challenge this year and our coach told us that it was a tight race for winning spots this year.

Seven paleo ‘competitors’ (4 women, and 3 men) made it to the announcing of the winners on Saturday. The coach took the first half hour and explained how he measured everyone’s successes and that he was impressed by everyone who took it upon themselves to do this 30 day challenge.

There were all sorts of prizes on the table for the winners and some door prizes to be drawn randomly.

I was starting to get a stomach ache and be a ball of nerves as he was stretching out the time, and not telling us who had placed yet. JEEZE.

Finally he started announcing the females placing starting with third and announced the inches she had lost, and the body fat percentage. It wasn’t me. I high fived her for getting third. Then, coach named off second place with her numbers – again, it wasn’t me. First place rolls around. He said my name. Then the inches I had lost, the pounds I had lost, and my body fat percentage change. I grinned but inside I was jumping up and down.

I GOT FIRST PLACE! It was a great feeling to put my mind to the Paleo challenge and come out with some great numbers along with some great prizes.

The numbers speak for themselves:

That above is how I did compared to the other women and men in the challenge. Their before numbers (like weight, for instance) was not included for privacy reasons, since I grabbed this off our very own CrossFit website. I don’t think many people would like their numbers published.

First place folks ended up getting some crazy prizes. I ended up with:  paleo-first-prize

  • Junk headband (popular amongst CrossFitters and they were at the Regionals last weekend)
  • $100 RMT massage with a girl who I’ve known at CrossFit for a few years
  • a CrossFit tee
  • $100 gift card to the local mall

Awesome hey? A few people at my CrossFit gym were asking how I did so well considering I’m already “so small”. I wasn’t kidding around when I told people my belly was the same size as my boob size from the start, that and the fact my diet consisted of a lot of candy, McDonalds and soda.

Everyone had to keep track of their food log which also had my sleep schedule, workouts for the 30 days, goals we wanted to achieve, the water intake at each meal, and the exact time I ate.paleo-book

It was pretty precise and I was so meticulous about carrying it around everywhere I went. Every. Where. I swear if I worked at toyotaparts.com toyota parts they’d love me for making such a detailed book of my entire month. It was nice seeing Coach C write a little bit on the back page for me:paleo-coach

Hard work pays off.
