Preparing for the first race of the season

I totally just realized I’m eating a lot of carbs. Naturally, this would be totally fine for my boyfriend who is a triathlete, but not so much for me. Last night I had to cook a carb filed meal since it was the first race of the season the next day (being today). Plus, I felt the urge to cook something different each night. I failed to realize there was carbs in everything that I made this weekend. My belly feels full just looking at it all (even though I had an iddy bitty portion). To top it off, we went to McDonalds tonight, after my soccer game and his duathlon.

In case you haven’t checked my recipe section in a few, I updated one of the recipes I made (last night) with a photo. It was ooey gooey with cheese, and oh lord was it ever good — in moderation. Meaning once every 4 months, haha. This will be a good meal pre–Ironman race in August, don’tcha say!?

0We woke up earlier than usual this morning because boyfriend had his first race of the season (the only duathlon he’s doing this season, the rest are tri’s). Of course, everyone gets excited over the first race of the season so everyone comes out from the woodwork and race their little tight butts off. I even saw a license plate from NY today. Dedication people!21

I was playing with the settings on my camera (exact color too!) today  and 5got some good results that I was quite pleased with.  (There he is on the right with the blue jersey on)  That guy would  move out of the way, he wasn’t even in that wave group! Having the flash on in daylight/outdoors is total key. The only fail of the day was spending it all outdoors without any sunscreen on. Slap my wrist now guys :( My honker is bright red. Not cool.

There he is! Going out for the 30k bike. I wish this was a bit more clear, even though boyfriend is in focus … sorta? I don’t know. Whatevs right? I got lots of photos of him he was like “Enoughhhh already” (in the photo where he’s carrying the bike. Hee hee.

feetSoccer was brutal tonight. Again, first game of the season, with a few new girls on the field. I ended up getting knocked down when I was trying to score and landed on my left shoulder AND HEAD! My temple is bruised a bit, and I have a dirty ol’ mud stain on my shoulder. How the eff is that going to come out in the wash? Tips anyone? The stupid woman didn’t even apologize, and the ref wouldn’t let me race off the field. I was like COME ONNN people. Not my day for a good game. No photos of that unforunately, only the one I took of my shoes while waiting for boyfriend to pick me up. Oh, we tied 3-3 and can you believe it Legs (me lol) didn’t get a goal. Jeesh!

Alright, this is getting to be a novel here. I’m going to take a nap (at 9:30 at night!)

Ritual

I believe that we have a Saturday ritual when it comes to me and my boyfriends weekend activities. I pack up my weekender tote and walk the short 300 meter commute to boyfriends apartment complex after work on Fridays.

From there, we prepare supper and talk about what we should do  the next day. Though, we both subliminally know that it’s going to be the exact same dealings we did, the week before, and the week before that.

On Saturday, we sleep in and then I wake up and treat him to a nice big breakfast consisting off scrambled eggs, hash browns, and sausages. Sometimes a drop of orange juice too, if there is any in the house. As for me? I can’t eat much in the mornings or I feel ill, so I eat a granola bar or an apple. Of course one would shower, freshen up and put on clothes for the day…

We head out to the Mennonite market and pick up some fresh produce for the week. BF’s swim coach works inside one of the buildings, in the Fish section. We score enough to feed both of us, for two weeks—for much under selling price (love networks). Continue our shopping in the market, and drive home so the fish/produce doesn’t spoil in the heat of the trunk, in the car.

bimmerAfter we drop off the food we head straight out to a car dealership. I bet you’re not surprised. This time, we went to BMW. As I recall I wrote about BF wanting the 135i, pictured to the left.

Well.

This time, we took it for a test drive.

The salesman who we dealt with the first time BF staked out the Bimmer, took us and drove first. He casually informed us that he would be driving it a bit more aggressively than one normally would drive. BF and I just looked at once another trying to hold out on grinning to big.

The salesman was demonstrating emergency breaking from 100km/hr (very impressive, BMW lol) driving and exhelarating with two wheels on the dirt road and two wheels on pavement, with no wobbleing in the steering at all. He then told me to hold onto my purse, as I was in the back seat. :)

Squealing with joy and laughter, as he demonstrated how well the vehicle handled on the road. It was glued so tightly to that pavement, no matter how sharp he took those S turns, and no matter how fast he went. My adrenaline was pumping and the BF couldn’t wipe the ear to ear grin off his face while in the front seat, during the test drive. :) After the salesman was done, he parked it and told us “Canada’s Wonderland is now over, for the day.”

Then, it was his time to test drive. Ultimately he was nervous, as he’s only been a passenger in a bimmer before. He started driving and seeing how it worked for him. I gotta say folks, I think I’ve we both fell in love with that machine of a car. BF and I couldn’t stop talking about it for the whole weekend. It was awesome.

Alright enough about that. It’ll probably never be “my” car, and I’d never be allowed to drive it, if he purchased it — haha!

In other car news I also test drove a car on the weekend. The 2010 Corolla S with leather interior and a “moon roof” (why don’t they call them sunroofs anymore? I’m not liking it as much as the Mazda 3. I think it’s the fact that I can’t get over that I feel like a little old lady inside the Corolla. It’s a bit boring compared to the Mazda 3 which is a bit more modern looking inside and out. The Hatchback is the one I’m leaning on at the moment. I can’t get over how much I think about cars in the run of a day. I’m like an male adolescent seeing a nudey magazine for the first time. Thinking about it constantly. Eat, drink, work, sleep cars. lol Ahhhhhh!

Weekend menu’s

It’s been a while since I last posted a weekly menu. Since I rarely cook anything interesting for myself during the week nights — I have decided to post weekend only menu’s, as I spend weekends at boyfriends place. Also, this is just so I don’t do duplicate meals every single week. It may seem a bit anal planning this far ahead, but it gives me a bit of inspiration to look for new recipes, and if they’re tasty enough I just very well may post them in my recipe section!

APRIL 3–5
Friday: Home made tacos, with lean ground turkey meat (because I don’t like beef all that much), topped with chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce and low fat shredded cheese.
Saturday: Chicken wraps or chicken quesadillas (recipe)
Sunday:
Pork chops with roasted potatoes and veggies
____________________________________________________________________________________________
APRIL 10–12
Friday: Chicken Pad Thai with Bell Peppers (recipe)
Saturday: Asparagus wrapped in Chicken, served with mashed potatoes and veggies
Sunday: Thai chicken with bell peppers and cashews (recipe)
____________________________________________________________________________________________
APRIL 17–19
Friday: Parmesan garlic potatoes with pork chops and carrots
Saturday: Salmon with basmati rice and greens
Sunday: Macaroni and Cheese

Mmm can’t wait for supper tonight! Can you believe that my boyfriend has never had taco’s before I made them for us a few weekends ago? He obviously found them quite delicious as he request that I make it for us tonight. What’re you guys having?
