Bring back that sammich!

I am really thinking of contacting Quizno’s head office, to bring back one of our (boyfriend and I’s) favorite sandwich. We used to go there quite frequently because the BREAD was so much better than Subway’s. The ingredients were better quality. Plus, they had some pretty sweet deals when they had coupons out. I once forgot the name of my favorite sandwich as I was ordering. I looked up on the menu and was like “Whoa. Where did it go?”  Thankfully, I used to go to the one down the street and the same girl served me. Even though it wasn’t on the menu, she still made it for us because the ingredients were still in store: Chicken, ceasar dressing. But I mean, sometimes you need a break from your favorite fast food joint. I haven’t been in about a year, and now I feel weird if I went in there and there was some new kid serving me and I’d be like “Yeah, I’d like to make my own sandwich please. Ingredients areeee…”

Why oh why, Quiznos, did you stop making Peppercorn Ceasar Chicken sandwiches?! You lost two customers! This was the best tasting sub on the menu! Now everything is either filled with roast beef, or chicken AND bacon together. I do not like mixing my meats!

Bah. If I could only muster up the engery to write a nice message to Quizno’s saying how I miss that Peppercorn Ceasar chicken.

I shouldn’t even posted this. My belly wants it. (Wow. I post about food a lot, don’t I?)

My weekly dinner menu

To save money on groceries. I do out a weekly list of what I already have in the fridge to try and use up all the produce and frozen meats so they won’t sit in the fridge/freezer too long, and have me forget about it. I’ve been slacking for the last few months on writing down weekly menu’s. But then I jump back on the wagon, and for the past 3 weeks I’ve been writing down on the frige what we’re going to eat for the week. That way boyfriend can’t ask me at 3 o’clock while his cravings kick in at work for food: “What’s for supper?”. Ahhh!

So here’s my list for the next little while—all cooked at home! We rarely eat out and it’ll usually be on a weekend out to McDonalds which is a cheap meal in itself. YUM! (I sometimes do a lot more than a week’s worth, since I get on a roll with all kinds of recipes dancing in my head) lol:

DECEMBER 1–6
Monday: Angus beef burgers (blue menu!) & shoe string fries
Tuesday: Salmon with basmati rice and a ceasar salad
Wednesday: Chicken teryaki stir fry with basmati rice
Thursday: Chicken wraps (I put low fat shredded cheese, chopped tomatoes, red/green peppers in strips, taco seasoning on the chicken, shredded lettuce and a tablespoon of low fat ranch dressing. All wrapped up. Yum!)
Friday: Pork chops, steamed asparagus, baked potatoes, and boiled carrots
Saturday: Asparagus wrapped in chicken served with rice (This recipe is the best. My Mom did some experimenting and it’s now on my weekly menu. Flatten out the chicken breasts, sprinkle some cheese and add 3 stalks of asparagus. Top with salsa and chopped tomatoes!)
____________________________________________________________________________________________
DECEMBER 7–13
Sunday: Parmesan garlic potatoes with pork chops and carrots|
Monday: Gemeli (Basically gemeli noodles, with a bunch of shredded cheese and tomato sauce)
Tuesday: Rotini with vodka sauce and chicken
Wednesday: Honey mustard chicken with basmati rice and steamed broccoli
Thursday: Chicken quesadillas (My own, are my favorite. I should post this recipe!)
Friday: Cressendo chicken pizza—bought for $3.99!
Saturday: Staff Christmas Party
____________________________________________________________________________________________
DECEMBER 14–16
Sunday: Chicken pad thai with red peppers and tomatoes
Monday: Pork tenderloin served with roasted potatoes and cooked carrots
Tuesday: Supper over in the next city, with my Mom’s cousin(I think!)

Wow. So that’s our meal plan until December 16th. I never usually stray off that either. Because sometimes I feel ambitious and chop up my veggies a night in advance so I don’t slack off. Notice we don’t have many left overs? Literally once a month I’ll make enough left overs (usually it’s with Chicken Pad thai, as per request from the boyfriend) that I save some for lunch for the next day. (That, or home made macaroni and cheese).

My mouth is watering. I have a stupid frozen dinner for lunch today.

Indesign > Quark

CS4 users. HELP!

I’ve been working with the page layout program, Quark Xpress (version 7.0 right now) for about 4 years. I’ve always had InDesign installed on my laptop, but since I was taught the little tips and tricks in school using everyone’s hated program Quark, I stuck with it, since I used it at work too.

At work we’ve upgraded to Adobe Creative Suite 4—Design Premium, it comes with the luxurious InDesign CS4. Now, converting all of my files shouldn’t be a problem. Yay so simple! (Or so I thought.) Except for the fact that CS4 will not open any Quark files over version 4. I’ve called Adobe’s 1800 number, I’ve been scouring the interweb’s for about an hour and a half trying to come up with conversions, and everything I come across says “Does not work with CS4” lol.

Luckily, my Mom is a Graphic Designer as well. However she has Quark 6.0 (and even though she can save to version 5, I still need it saved to version 4 or 3! Who still uses that old stuff!?) and is looking into answers for me as well.

I’m getting frustrated. I tried using the trial software of Q2ID (Quark 2 InDesign), which would be wonderful if I was only using CS3 or CS2. But I doubt it’s going to work since in big bold red letters it’s telling me it’s not compatable with CS4 yet.

Agh! But wait! My Mom had a brilliant idea of saving the Quark page as an EPS file. But no, it cannot work because all computers hate me and want me to suffer. This is the error message that pops up regardless of if I bring in a regular quark file, or even an EPS file. YES my Quark program was closed when I tried opening it with InDesign.

* Five hours later, a brand new InDesign document has been created and somewhat replicated of the Quark document. I’d rather not do this again…
