OOTWW & Triple F Friday #16

I’ve decided to do a little something new with my outfits of the work week. Let me know if you like this style better, or if you prefer that I go back to the other way. I think you can see more detail in my outfit from Wednesday-Friday.

ootwwI’m still working on trying to figure out the new camera that I got for Christmas from the Boyf. I had to photoshop every image this morning, to brighten it up. Especially the bathroom photos. It’s a lot of work! I don’t know if I should go back to my old camera for my OOTD posts or not…

Before I get into Triple F Friday I want to tell you about Vine app (more info) that I now use on my iPad. It’s the coolest thing ever and right now I can only find it in the apps under iPhone. So download it if you have it, and add me under spiffykerms! It’s a six second movie you can film, pause and it pastes it all together to make . For instance, I had no idea you weren’t supposed to stir Chobani greek yogurt. Just fold it over. Huh! I only have one video up right now since it’s difficult to film on the iPad as it is much more chunkier. Ah, just go download it :)

farapartfxCara shows us all how to get perfectly groomed eyebrows, no matter how messed up they may be! I need this. I keep taking chunks off the top of my eyebrows when I wax them at home. Oops.

megsphotoMeg did Thankful Thursday on her blog yesterday. Meg, oh boy — I am also thankful that this week we could get rid of our winter jackets for a day or two. It was soo nice!

panko chickenAly from The Newlywed Life cooks up a delicious supper the other night. Doesn’t this sound amazing? “Panko crusted, ricotta and spinach stuffed chicken” She also had mashed cauliflower with it. I’ve yet to try that – in fact I may end up mashing some of my cauliflower into the potatoes I plan on mashing up this weekend. Girl has also got some style too. Love her blog, give her a follow or comment!

A late weekend recap

I rarely post about my daily activities. I had planned on posting this earlier in the week since I had a pretty eventful weekend last weekend and decided to document it, and of course share a little more of my life with you guys.

Boston-Pizza-lunch-dateFriday during lunch Julie and I had a co-worker date lunch at Boston Pizza. Haven’t been there in a whole year, since the last time we went together (link to Boston Pizza last year).

comfy-clothes-for-JuliesThat night I headed over to her place in my comfy clothes and we hung out and watched This Is 40.

Girls-Night-InWe didn’t like the movie, but had fun chatting and warming our toes with her fire place blaring and eating oreos.

Thrive-Juice-Bar-Waterloo

Saturday I met up with Stephanie to grab some groceries at the market, and then headed for an early lunch at Thrive to catch up. If you ever go to Thrive, get the chocolate avocado smoothie with cacao bites. It tastes like it’s bad for you. Steph ended up buying me this fancy black tea (peach flavored). I’ve yet to try it since I’m kind of scared as I’m used to Orange Pekoe and I also don’t have one of those fancy siv things. Oh Stephanie is soo much fun. There was so much laughter and chit-chatter going on, since we haven’t seen each other since she left for Zimbabwe in September. (She’s back now, in case you couldn’t tell…).

Saturday afternoon I drove to Guelph and shopped a bit at the mall. I picked up a dress (who me!?) and two belts at this one store that kind of reminded me of the stores I shop at online (cough… eBay). I dropped by my relatives place to spend some time with them all and also to give my (pregnant!!) cousin Vanessa her EOS lip balms that she won off my website before Christmas.

Roasted-Veg-Supper

Oooh that night, I made a pretty colorful supper with roasted carrots, purple potatoes (they were purple inside too!)

8k-race-in-BurlingtonSunday the Boyf and I drove to Burlington for his 8km road race where he ran it in 29 minutes. Fast bugger, I tell ya. I couldn’t see him come in through the finishing chute as my eyes were watering for an entire HOUR. I got ready in a hurry that morning since we slept in a little bit, and I slapped on my face moisturizer, and rubbed it all over my face including my eyelids. Didn’t know you were supposed to avoid eye contact with it. I read that later. The tears were just flowing down my face for the entire time. I should have covered it up with sunglasses but they were left in the car.

We ended up going to Ikea to grab some straws (hey they’re cheap there) and light bulbs and grab a delicious frozen yogurt cone from the cafeteria. Very tasty. Then we popped into the mall so I could buy some $3.80 vneck cami’s from Forever21, but they were out of stock. Unfortch.

Homemade-PizzaI used to make the fluffiest (okay that’s a poor choice of words) pizza crusts in the oven (on a baking sheet) and ever since I purchased a pizza stone I have a nice thin crust that doesn’t flop when you handle it. However, the crust is a little too thin and it’s so difficult to manoeuvre on the hot stone so I’m just stuck there. Do I need to double up my pizza crust recipe? Anyone know how to fix that “issue”?

Berry-FondueFor dessert the Boyf had the brilliant idea of making chocolate fondue and using up our berries for dipping! It was a great decision on his part.

BUSY weekend wha? This weekend I’m going to get organized. I need to keep up with my meal plans, and mark out an event calendar for February. I didn’t do one for January so I completely forgot what the Boyf was up to in the evenings, which is inconvenient as sometimes I take my sweet time coming back home from CrossFit and he leaves for swimming almost immediately after. Therefor we need to eat in-between those two ‘events’. So if I know what he’s up to, I’ll have supper prepped and ready for him when I come home and before he goes exercising.

What are your weekend plans?

The challenges I’m hitting lately…

I can’t believe it’s Thursday. I thought it was Wednesday and the week is just flying by. I’m feeling stronger than ever at CrossFit and I’m not being a wussy when it comes to the WODs. I’m givn’er and lifting heavier! Guess that month off was successful for my muscle building and now I’m just getting better.

50daypushI’m going to end up starting the push up challenge again shortly. I don’t know what’s stopping me from even starting but I’m planning on it in the foreseeable future. Ha! How’s that for a vague answer. I ended up doing the 50 day push up challenge on my knees last time, and next I want to start doing them off my toes. Elbows in. The “tough” way! I saw a vast improvement on my performance at CrossFit when I did them, so I want to keep that level up.

Lately I’ve been like a starving horse. Feeling very hungry at work, and I figure that I really need to start bringing much more snacks in with me, to work so I’m not going to a vending machine or eating my emergency candy. Yes, I have a secret stash at work. Shh. The Boyf doesn’t know, but I’m sure it doesn’t surprise him. It’s dwindling. The candy stash, not our relationship lol….uh.

boyf and iHere’s a random photo of us in the elevator.  Just because this post is lacking some visuals ;) Totally broke that BlackBerry case awhile ago. On case # 3 now. Oops. Hey, at least I’m not on BlackBerry #3 right?

Think that’s going to be the way retailers shop, in the future? Pretty wild right?  In fact, if you’re in the Toronto area, this store is actually opened as of last week and it’s located at 2529 Younge Street. I google mapped the location and it’s 7km north of the Eaton Centre to put it in perspective. Hop on a subway and you’re there in minutes.

Neat features of the Retail Lab:

  • Tile, Tablet, Touch and NFC Screens:  With 140 digital screens installed throughout the store, it features Samsung displays with ultra-thin borders, touch technology and near-field-communication (NFC) capabilities allowing for personalized content and greater customer interaction with merchandise.
  • Shoe Wall Innovation: adidas has installed its first permanent digital shoe wall in Canada; Nike has installed its first Nike Shoe VJ Experience in the world; and Reebok has installed a customized, ‘build your own Reebook’ kiosk.
  • Medical Motion Dynamic Gait Analysis: Customers walk or run on a gait analysis treadmill, while being monitored by trained Sport Chek associates who can then recommend the perfect shoe.

What has everyone been doing to strive for YOUR better? What challenges are you hitting? Tell me in the comments. I’m sure it’s difficult getting into a routine again after the nice Christmas holiday break. Sure was for me – you guys know I took a month off for no real reason. I just did. I suppose my body secretly needed it, and I listened to it. Now I’m feeling a ton better, especially now that I’m taking vitamins and exercising more.

Oh oh! Don’t forget to submit your Triple F Friday posts to me by tonight’s end! Just shoot me an e-mail to spiffykerms@gmail.com. Just include any of the following:
