What I Ate Wednesday #7

Thank you so much for your awesome comments on yesterdays Beauty Talk Tuesday post. The photos took a long time to take (making sure they were all in focus because: tripod), edit and put together in photoshop. Since many of you had commented saying you enjoyed the layout of the post, I will continue to style the photos that way when talking beauty related products, so thanks again!

Today we’re jumping back into another What I Ate Wednesday. Mmm, food. My favourite.

What I Ate Wednesday
google-tea-egg-bagel8:50a //Pretty proud of my $7 Google purchase. A black and white mug perfect sized for my cuppa tea in the a.m. Along side, toasted everything bagel with bell pepper, mushrooms, cheese and tomatoes. Spread was mayo + chipotle mayo. All the fat. All the tasties.

lunch-snack-plate12:40p // Because when you want a lot of things but are too lazy to cook all the things, you make a delicious snack plate for lunch. Here we have a honey crisp apple, grapes, raspberries, strawberries (that were gross and crunchy so I decided to freeze them for smoothies), homemade cheese crackers, plantains, coconut flakes, pea things, homemade raw trail mix, hummus and crackers.

3pm-snack4:05p // Coffee date with my Canadian friend!

salmon-supper8:25p // I overcooked the salmon. Still good though. Seasoned with Mrs. Dash original, and a sliver of lemon. On the side, a baked russet potato (smothered with butter and garlic), carrots, cauliflower and a silly little spinach salad. So healthy.

Matcha Green Tea Powder: Review

Matcha Green Tea PowderBack in May, Kiss Me Organics contacted me asking if I’d like to test out their matcha green tea. I’m a big orange pekoe tea drinker, and have been known to consume more than 1 cup a day. However, I’m not into the green tea as much. But their PR contact informed me that there’s much more things to do than just drink it. There’s a ton of baking, cooking and drinking recipes floating around where you can use powdered green tea — including MEAT. I know.

I rarely bake, and if I do it’s blueberry muffins. I stuck to a more simple task, putting it into our morning smoothies.

I sorta made the Berry Good Morning Smoothie from the Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder’s PDF recipe book (page 19). But I implemented my own berries and fruit. Inside this bad boy for two:

matcha smoothie1 banana /// 6 strawberries  /// 1 peach  /// 2 heaping tablespoons of nonfat plain greek yogurt
1 tsp matcha with 2 tsp of warm water (to mix the matcha)  /// ice cubes /// skim milk

When I’m not using any powders in our drinks, I usually opt for putting in a few dashes of cinnamon, a squirt of agave sweetener, a dash of vanilla extract and a tiny bit of unsweetened cocoa powder.

A lot of these products I’m reviewing are impractical for me to keep purchasing and using each day. It’s not something I’m willing to spend my money on at the moment. The matcha green tea retails for $30, and the skoop I reviewed the other week, was twice that amount. I’m not sure I’d be noticing a significant amount of change in energy, or feeling overall wellness. I think we’d skip out on this if we were to purchase it ourselves. But luckily, I’m here to try a few things out on my blog, and give my full honest review. I know tons of people who LOVE this stuff, and I’ve already gave my 2nd package of the Matcha Green Tea Powder I received, to my climbing buddy, Ellen.

I haven’t tried making green tea with it yet, because I can’t simply say no to a cuppa orange pekoe over the green tea (yet). But apparently Matcha Green Tea contains more than 137 times the antioxidants found in a cup of brewed tea. Huh!

I have a bag of Matcha Green Tea Powder to share with one of you guys. Enter using the Rafflecopter form below, telling me how you’d mix yours.

Giveaway is open to residents of USA + Canada.

What I Ate Wednesday #3

What I Ate Wednesday
The third instalment of “WIAW’s”! I enjoy doing these, since I love lurking into what everyone else seems to eat in the run of a day. So I’ll keep this going, as long as it entertains me :)

I definitely didn’t try to make most of my photos pretty today, like that yucky looking pizza shot. It was delicious and I was too excited to eat it to visually style it blogger-style.

morning smoothie9:25am — I made a berry smoothie with Skoop once again. This is a recycled photo from the weekend. But it kinda counts, as it’s the same ingredients.

morning snack10:45am — I made a snack plate before heading to the gym. Good thing I did because I spent 75 minutes at yoga, and 90 minutes bouldering.

Trader Joes sample3:30pm — Swung by Trader Joe’s to pick up a few groceries, always have to stop at their sample bar area. This one was a mango sorbet with a nice little cracker.

Trader Joes Pineapple Juice3:45pm — So thirsty. Bought this little can of pure pineapple juice (no sugar added!) for $0.75 at Trader Joes. Cracked into’er immediately. Refreshing.

wiaw pizza lunch4:30pm — Ate my two slices of home-made pizza lunch and threw away half the mango. It was gross, probably not ripe enough.

wiaw good supper10:30pm — I’m surprised I even took a photo of my supper, as I was starving at this point. The Guy ended up getting home way later than anticipated. So, I waited. My supper was devoured within about 92 seconds. Everything you see from supper is from Trader Joe’s, basically.
