My CrossFit Journal Year 2 Week 22

I went to CrossFit four times last week. That’s a lot for someone who hasn’t attended regularly since May. I definitely felt it. Friday’s workout was probably the most hard on me due to it being more strength than endurance. I looked at the back of my hands at one point and the sweat was just pooling up on them. The middle of my back I felt drips of sweat sliding down wanting to inch down into my butt crack. It was uncomfortable as you can only imagine.

Oh! How did I almost forget to mention. I hit a PR this week on front squats! Finally broke 100lbs!!

GWOD:
10 minutes of kipping pull up practice

WOD:
1km run
Then 5 rounds of:
7 wide grip strict pull ups
7 chest to bar
14kb pistols (I didn’t use a weight)
21 hollow rocks

I completed the 1km run slower than last week (5:15) and came in at 5:23.  For the WOD I completed 3 rounds and 9 pistols.

year 2, week 22, day 3

3 Rounds:
21 Overhead medball situps
200m run
15 thrusters
200m run
9 over bar burpees
* Rest 3 minutes after each round

One of the coaches said everyone finished this WOD. So I thought I’d finish it too. But I’m pretty sure everyone didn’t wait the 3 minute rest-time more like had a 2 min rest. Whatevs. So. I didn’t finish lol. I was on my last 200m run and had to do 9 more over bar burpees.

year 2, week 22, day 4

crossfit wod 4th day

This workout posted above was the mental one I was talking about. I don’t know if I’m just really weak with front squats but I had to bump down to 55lbs after the first few rounds because holy crapballs I was finding it impossible to get out 10 in a row. More like 3 and slam the weight down lol….That or the fact I had a tough workout week. Let’s say that ;)

Ways to stay fit when traveling

Ways to stay fit when traveling …or just lazy and don’t want to go to the gym.

Seriously folks. I am completely blown away at technology these days. I probably sound like a granny talking about when I was a child… but seriously. The things that companies come up with are just genius.

I noticed that Chatelaine has fitness app (for free!) that only takes 10 minutes. Everyone has time for 10 minutes. Don’t tell me you don’t because you’re just making excuses now.

Traveling? Bring your ipad. Set up the fitness app. Get goin’. You’re walked through a video of a woman explaining on how to do all the movements and takes you from basic, to advanced abilities.allstar-moves

Here I’m learning about the squat. Which I’m no stranger to thanks to CrossFit.Chatelaine-10-min-fitness-a

Then it gives you 2 minutes to do each workout you select. You got it!2mins

You won’t go to CrossFit and not do a squat. I feel like such a pro at them now, ha ha.squats
Perhaps you’re not traveling but just a little lazy and don’t want to go to the gym. Set it up in your living room and work out in your underwear if you have to. Or in my case, out on the balcony on a rainy summer’s evening!
sit-ups
It was just launched in May and it’s already been downloaded 100,000 times.

HOLY. That’s a lot of people working up a sweat.standing-in-workout-gear

Basically it’s like having your own personal trainer on speed dial. On the days that I don’t want to go to CrossFit (because I seriously cannot handle 7 straight workouts in 7 days of it — c’mon… it’s kinda nuts) I do the Chatelaine 10 minute fitness app.

Following the videos!lunges

Here’s how it works…

The Chatelaine 10-Minute Fitness App includes:

  •     More than 100 expert-approved exercises

Chatelaine 10-Minute Fitness app is now available in the iTunes store. Get it at itunes.apple.com/us/app/chatelaine-10-minute-fitness. But hey, it’s cheaper than a gym membership if you don’t own one, right?

*This is not a paid or sponsored post. Just sharing the love of the Chatelaine app!

My new tattoo

It’s time to do some laundry tonight. Sometimes I let it pile up and take up all of the washers available in our apartment complex.

It’s funny, because we usually only have athletic wear and towels to wash mostly. I know when I run out of my favorite workout tops from Under Armour, MPG Sport, and Lululemon, it’s time to do laundry. I need my favorite items to work out in!

workout-clothesHey. Gotta have some visual interest in a blog post, right? :)

The boyf is training very hard for his upcoming Ironman in Mont Tremblant in August, so he’s going through laundry like it’s a hot potato. Sorry, couldn’t think of a better description than that. It’s incredible the work outs he puts in. For instance on Saturday & Sunday he ran 20km, Monday he biked 210km, Tuesday he ran 32 at a “slow” pace of what my fast pace is: 5:15min/km’s. Ya. His slow runs are my going full-tilt so that’s why we don’t train together ;) I don’t want to feel like I’m slowing him down even though he’s always up for going out on a run with me regardless of the speed.

CrossFit WodsI’m taking the night off CrossFit. I’ll be going 4x this week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) and tonight I’m going to do a little work out at home from my iPad.

chatelaine all star movesI downloaded the Chatelaine 10-minute fitness app. I’ve been using it for a few days but tomorrow I’ll let you know how it all works.

I’ve been going to my pedicure lady for the past few years and last weekend she had a going away party since her family is moving to Cambodia, where I got this new tattoo of mine. Don’t freak out Mom and Dad – it’s fake. Who would’ve guessed? It’s a stencil which she painted body glue on, then brushed glitter of my choice. It won’t budge. It’s been on since the weekend.

fish tattooI thought it was “just a fish” until I was told it was finding nemo. Oops. I’ve never seen the movie, can you believe it?

I sure will miss that sweet Sophie. I get regular pedicures in the summer because even though I rarely I don’t wear opened toed shoes often because I’m cold pretty much constantly. I do like to have my feet pretty. Especially now that I have had a black toe nail RIGHT before summer started, and this happened last year as well. What luck, huh? Especially it being on my big honkin’ toe, too. TMI for you all? Sorry!

I’m out! Have a good night all.
