My watch collection

my-watch-collectionI admit, I do have a bit of a problem when it comes to buying watches. It’s all justified though, especially since I wear the heck out of all of them in just the run of a week. I like to call it more of a collection than a  problem though.

I’ve been trying to come up with ways to store my watches other than on my dresser all sprawled out. Recently, I have been browsing eBay for watch holders like the one below.

watch-holders

I’ve been debating buying one on the left. But they’re made of velvety material and I feel like having them on display not only takes up a ton of space on top of the dresser but being that it’s velvet, it’s a huge dust collector.

However after searching more into it you can also buy acrylic holders. I don’t love the look of them, which is why I haven’t purchased it yet. What do you guys think? I also hope that one would be enough due to the large amount of watches I have.

My grand collection of Women’s watches I’ve accumulated throughout the years.  my-watchesTop row: Skagen Ceramic Watch which was kindly sent to me for review from The Watch Co., and the gold clunker is my Michael Kors look-a-like that I bought on eBay last summer.
Bottom row: All of my favorite Fossil Stella watches! The brown stainless steel one was sent to me last summer. The other two are made of resin material and I bought those in 2009.

You’ll notice one of my watches are missing. It’s the Fossil Heather watch I received from my friends at Fossil late summer. I ended up giving that one to my Mom when I flew home over Thanksgiving. She loves it and it totally suits her!

I have three other watches I wear too. Talk about a collection hey?

my-older-watchesL-R: Timex sports watch, Nixon leather strap watch, and a coconut watch I got for Christmas this year.

I only wear the timex one if I’m heading out for a run. My Nixon watch brings back so many memories. It’s the first watch I remember purchasing, I got it at a skate shop in 2003 back home in Newfoundland and I wore the heck out of it. The leather strap is almost worn away on the backside.

I plan on doing a full review on the Skagen watch that I received, as well as another blog post on how to style watches. Because certain watches definitely won’t work with certain outfits.

Do you collect anything?

Do you wear a watch on a regular basis?

MAKE UP FOR EVER launches the Technicolor Palette

Spring is usually known for pastel shades, and not the most daring of shades. However Make Up For Ever likes to change the game and come out with some playful bold colors for the upcoming warm weather.

MAKE UP FOR EVER introduces the exclusive limited edition Technicolor Palette. It has a combination of some pretty wild, yet wearable colors, and has a few neturals for work appropriate looks. That doesn’t mean you can’t apply Spring’s “it” color, yellow all over the eyelids if you’re daring, unlike me.

Seeing how I’m a natural makeup wearer, I like seeing this sort of style on eyes: Just a splash of color on the lower eyelash line, and the rest of the eye stays pretty neutral. Like what this eyeball lady did below:

This person did the “color splash” well, mind you they’re not make up for ever specific colors.

You can have so much fun with this Technicolor Palette. I really like the vibrancy of the lilac and teal shades for some added fun for Spring 2013. And since it’s a fairly small palette at about 5″ wide, you can bring it along with you while you travel and it doesn’t really get in the way or take up too much space.

I can only imagine the eye catching looks that you can possibly create with these great colors. Apple green would look great on brown eyes

When you think of it, there’s only really 3 daring colors in the palette (yellow, green and teal), so while at first glance it may look intimidating, remember that there’s 5 great neutrals for every day wear.

Fun fact: Dany Sanz, Creator & Artistic Director of MAKE UP FOR EVER, has long been interested in saturated color and creating high pigmentation on images. Sanz created Technicolor using the same technique employed by filmmakers, over-saturating her shadow colors to make them appear more alive.

The Technicolor Palette has hit Sephora stores and Make Up For Ever boutiques across Canada in February. It retails for $50. The palette compact has a mirror and also features two round brushes.

OOTWW & Triple F Friday #16

I’ve decided to do a little something new with my outfits of the work week. Let me know if you like this style better, or if you prefer that I go back to the other way. I think you can see more detail in my outfit from Wednesday-Friday.

ootwwI’m still working on trying to figure out the new camera that I got for Christmas from the Boyf. I had to photoshop every image this morning, to brighten it up. Especially the bathroom photos. It’s a lot of work! I don’t know if I should go back to my old camera for my OOTD posts or not…

Before I get into Triple F Friday I want to tell you about Vine app (more info) that I now use on my iPad. It’s the coolest thing ever and right now I can only find it in the apps under iPhone. So download it if you have it, and add me under spiffykerms! It’s a six second movie you can film, pause and it pastes it all together to make . For instance, I had no idea you weren’t supposed to stir Chobani greek yogurt. Just fold it over. Huh! I only have one video up right now since it’s difficult to film on the iPad as it is much more chunkier. Ah, just go download it :)

farapartfxCara shows us all how to get perfectly groomed eyebrows, no matter how messed up they may be! I need this. I keep taking chunks off the top of my eyebrows when I wax them at home. Oops.

megsphotoMeg did Thankful Thursday on her blog yesterday. Meg, oh boy — I am also thankful that this week we could get rid of our winter jackets for a day or two. It was soo nice!

panko chickenAly from The Newlywed Life cooks up a delicious supper the other night. Doesn’t this sound amazing? “Panko crusted, ricotta and spinach stuffed chicken” She also had mashed cauliflower with it. I’ve yet to try that – in fact I may end up mashing some of my cauliflower into the potatoes I plan on mashing up this weekend. Girl has also got some style too. Love her blog, give her a follow or comment!
