ncLA Sweet Revenge Summer Collection 2013

sweet-revengeNCLA has introduced their new summer line of nail polishes, Sweet Revenge which is available online at Nail Polish Canada.

ncla-polishes-summer-2013Last summer I found really neat NCLA nail stickers on a blog, and I ordered them. I still haven’t used them because they’re too pretty. I hope they haven’t dried out.

The NCLA Summer Collection shades include:

  • Mostly Sunny With A Chance Of Sprinkles: Sunny skies with one ominous cloud, this light blue lacquer has a dark side: navy glitter.
  • Not So Sweet: Feeling not so sweet? Fool your frenemies when you wear this cotton candy pink shade.
  • Sugar Fix: Coming down from a sugar high never felt better! This light grey lacquer with fuchsia and electric blue glitter is sweet to the max.

ncla-blue
Mostly Sunny With A Chance Of Sprinkles is this creamy robin’s egg blue color which is completely opaque with one coat. Impressive.
ncLA-mostly-sunnyI applied two because there was a few small streaks. The small navy glitter gives it a fun little touch to the polish.

ncLA-not-so-sweet
Not So Sweet is a sweet shade of light pink that can be described as cotton candy. It’s hard for me to find a nice opaque pink that I will wear over and over. You can tell by the photo how smooth it looks on the nails.
ncla-pinkIt’s truly a perfect baby pink for my complexion.

This was my first experience with NCLA polishes, and I have to say it’s a nice polish, but I don’t know how often I’d go out and spend $16 on a bottle of nail polish. It’s a bit too rich for my blood, but I did like playing with the colors and will keep these in my collection as I hand picked them to review on my blog.

Last minute Mother’s Day Gifts

Sally-Hansen-and-Philosophy

If you’re anything like me this year and feeling a little ill prepared for Mother’s Day gifts and the guilt has finally caught up with you, fret not! I have two very simple, very easy solutions for you. Even though I should’ve been prepared since I did a Mother’s Day Gift Guide a while back.

Part one. Have a local Sephora around you? The mall is still open. Drive there right now and pick up a Philosophy gift set.Philosophy-living-grace

It’s one of my “go-to” gifts for every one of my friends/family members. Philosophy can do no wrong in my books. Personally I like all of the scents that either have to do with regular perfume scents (like the Living Grace). Or, one of my favorites is the Margarita scented item. I’m not fond of any scents that remind me of food, but they sure do a good job at making it look cute, regardless if I dislike it or not.grace-set

Philosophy’s Living Grace set is a Mother’s Day limited edition “try me” set that you can pick up for $45 (I do realize it says $35 on the box).  Philosophy-Grace

This set contains:
– 4 oz Shampoo, Bath & Shower Gel
– 4 oz Firming Body Emulsion
– 0.5 oz Eau de Toilette

It’s quite a clean scent, and perfectly me. Which I’m going to keep since it’s a little too late to give away to my Momma ;) The notes in the fragrances are fresh neroli, lily of the valley, and warm musk. I swear you can’t smell anything musky.

To go along with that maybe you can treat her to a mani/pedi session at your local salon or at home? I will not touch anyone elses feet. Just a thing I have. I won’t do it. So for me, I’d treat my Mom to a pedicure and supply her with these three gorgeous shades of summery pastel colors from Sally Hansen.Sally-Hansen-PolishesNail polishes shown: Barracuda, Arm Candy, Pink a Card.

My Mom doesn’t wear much mascara but perhaps yours does. This new mascara by Rimmel London Scandaleyes Show Off is something I’ve never used before. I’ve been taking a break from my holy grail mascara (Make Up For Ever Smokey Lash) and I’ve been using L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes which I’ve been enjoying. I decided to test the Rimmel one out this week. rimmel-scandaleyes-show-off

You can see that there’s a little ball at the end of the plastic mascara wand to get every tiny lash you have. The only issue I have with the mascara is that when taking the wand out of the capsule, there’s still mascara at the end, so you’ll have to clean it up. So far, I haven’t had any issues with clumping or not going on too sparse. rimmel-scandaleyes-showoff

Or perhaps you live nowhere near your Mother? I’m a three hour plane ride away. I do get to see her at the end of June, but Mother’s Day doesn’t get postponed by the weather. It happens. The second Sunday of May, always. How do I know that off hand? It’s because I know for a fact I never had to share my Birthday with Mother’s Day since my birthday is the 7th of May. Just a random tidbit there for you all. I don’t send my Mom flowers all that often, so I thought it would be the perfect time to surprise her with a nice floral bouquet from a flower studio back home who luckily had a site where I could order online.

The online version.

What she received.flower1

They were delivered to my parents house this morning bright and early, and yes she was surprised. Score.

What have you planned for your mom this Mother’s Day? Or perhaps this is your very first Mother’s Day as a mom yourself? What do you want? :)

Doowop cafe, and a Target haul

Sally NailsLike my nails and nail sticker? The nails are my favorite color everrrr (Sally Hansen Pink Slip, and Essie nail sticker).

nail polishLooks like I’m a big fan of neutral nail polishes ;)

Totally random picture before I jump jive and wail into this post…

I haven’t used iTunes in about 5 years. Not for any particular reason, I just have been relying on the boyf’s music for the past few years and never really had the urge to buy/download music, as I was pretty pleased with my play lists. Last year I sent my iPod back to Apple to get a brand new one for free (something was wrong with all of the original iPod nano’s and we got new square one’s for free). Since then I’ve been missing some of my music that I downloaded from the past.

On Sunday, I decided it was time to break out the old school tunes. I was always told I was raised in the wrong decade due to my taste in music. I absolutely love Fats Domino, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and even a bit of Otis Williams. So rather than hunt down new songs to buy and make me broke, I decided to google “internet radio from the 50’s” and came across this Tune In Radio. Gotta say, as soon as “Gumdrop – Otis Williams” came on I couldn’t control my dancing feet and I’m pretty sure the boyf had a ball just laughing at me and … even joining me in a dance or two, whether he likes to admit or not! The music station isn’t the best of quality but I don’t really care that much. I just love that type of music, and it makes me want to dance.

I wasn’t planning on talking about my Target purchases since I didn’t think it was very blog-worthy but a few people commented and e-mailed me, asking me to chat about it a little bit.Target Loves Canada

I went to two of the new Target Canada locations (Cambridge, and Guelph) and was not disappointed. Probably because I had my expectations set low due to the people reporting back saying it was not the best since a few things were out of stock. Well, duh – that’s because it’s only a soft launch and the grand opening hasn’t happened yet. So I was prepped to not find my Sonia Kashuk hidden concealer palette.

target-flats

I picked up these lovely copper toed flats (as my co-workers said). Heck man, they’re rose gold baby! $19.99 at that.

I also spotted some inexpensive watches ($24.99 for the rose gold one shown below!). Mind you, it was cheap, but didn’t really look like it! Looks like the Fossil one’s. Target Watch

Speaking of Fossil. The wallets at Target looked like a total knock off, of the wallets I spotted in Fossil recently. They looked the same, but they certainly didn’t feel as soft and wonderful as Fossil wallets. Wallets

Have you been to any of the new Target Canada stores yet? I bought a few other things at the Guelph location when I was there 2 weekend’s ago (striped pillow cases, cute jewlery and some nice looking placemats!).
