Just in time for our visitors!

Chex-headerI was invited to a Holiday Entertaining Event with Chexâ„¢ Party Mix and DIY Expert, Brit Morin. It was yesterday morning and I received the utmost royal treatment as they arranged for a limo to pick me up, and drive me both ways to MakeShop which is located in ‘The City‘ as Californian’s like to call San Francisco.

Make-Shop-San-FranciscoMakeShop is a fun little spot owned by Brit + Co., where you can make things, and buy things. There are laser printers, 3D printers, and supplies to make jewellery and other fun creative things. It’s a great spot!

First I’m going to talk about the sweet ride, then jump into the blogger event.

CadillacI have never felt so fancy.

Palm-trees-and-CadillacsI documented it all.

Selfie-in-limoMy driver told me it was a fully loaded 2015 (3 weeks old) Cadillac SUV. Sure felt fully-loaded with all the gadgets I had to play with, while getting chauffeured.

selfie-rainbowIt’s been pouring this entire week, which is what California desperately needs. So the drive up was a little foggy and wet, but I spotted a rainbow! A rare treat, in California.

As a creative individual (I’m a Graphic Designer and I love to paint!) I had a blast hanging out with all the bloggers, making Chex Mix. Which I mean, hello — just in time for our visitors! My parents-in-law will be arriving later this afternoon, my sister-in-law the day tomorrow, and this is only the beginning of our December visitors. I’m super excited to entertain!

Decorating-tinsWe learned how to prepare easy-to-make delicious Chex™ Party Mix recipes. I know Muddy Buddies are popular, but my favourite type of mix we made was the peppermint. SO GOOD. We also decorated tins to put the Chex Mix in.

I-heart-ChexI’m not entirely sure Chex is available in Canada, so this was all new to me. Well, I love you now Chex.

Brit-and-Co-Chex-PartyIt’s starting to look a lot like Christmas!

Matcha Green Tea Powder: Review

Matcha Green Tea PowderBack in May, Kiss Me Organics contacted me asking if I’d like to test out their matcha green tea. I’m a big orange pekoe tea drinker, and have been known to consume more than 1 cup a day. However, I’m not into the green tea as much. But their PR contact informed me that there’s much more things to do than just drink it. There’s a ton of baking, cooking and drinking recipes floating around where you can use powdered green tea — including MEAT. I know.

I rarely bake, and if I do it’s blueberry muffins. I stuck to a more simple task, putting it into our morning smoothies.

I sorta made the Berry Good Morning Smoothie from the Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder’s PDF recipe book (page 19). But I implemented my own berries and fruit. Inside this bad boy for two:

matcha smoothie1 banana /// 6 strawberries  /// 1 peach  /// 2 heaping tablespoons of nonfat plain greek yogurt
1 tsp matcha with 2 tsp of warm water (to mix the matcha)  /// ice cubes /// skim milk

When I’m not using any powders in our drinks, I usually opt for putting in a few dashes of cinnamon, a squirt of agave sweetener, a dash of vanilla extract and a tiny bit of unsweetened cocoa powder.

A lot of these products I’m reviewing are impractical for me to keep purchasing and using each day. It’s not something I’m willing to spend my money on at the moment. The matcha green tea retails for $30, and the skoop I reviewed the other week, was twice that amount. I’m not sure I’d be noticing a significant amount of change in energy, or feeling overall wellness. I think we’d skip out on this if we were to purchase it ourselves. But luckily, I’m here to try a few things out on my blog, and give my full honest review. I know tons of people who LOVE this stuff, and I’ve already gave my 2nd package of the Matcha Green Tea Powder I received, to my climbing buddy, Ellen.

I haven’t tried making green tea with it yet, because I can’t simply say no to a cuppa orange pekoe over the green tea (yet). But apparently Matcha Green Tea contains more than 137 times the antioxidants found in a cup of brewed tea. Huh!

I have a bag of Matcha Green Tea Powder to share with one of you guys. Enter using the Rafflecopter form below, telling me how you’d mix yours.

Giveaway is open to residents of USA + Canada.

What I Ate Wednesday: #2

What I Ate Wednesday
Is this even interesting to you? What I ate yesterday, put into a post for today? If you’d like me to continue (or stop for that matter) just let me know. I’m trying to switch things up a bit on my blog. Have a variety of fitness, beauty and food related posts. I am TRYING to eat healthy every day with little to no sugary processed foods. Frickin hard man. I love me some candy and pepsi.

Either way I had a pretty fantastic (re: athletic) day yesterday and felt on top of the world. I’ll get more into that on my weekly fitness recap next Tuesday.

8:45am — A berry smoothie. I had plans on making a purely chocolate, banana + peppermint extract. Except when I made it, and taste-tested it, I nearly vom’ed. It was disgusting. I put 1 tablespoon of extract in, and probably should have stuck to 1-2 drops. A lesson learned. Thus the second smoothie of the morning was made after I poured the other one down the sink. This was made with zero ice, so I ended up throwing in frozen blueberries, handful of strawberries and raspberries, filled it with some greek yogurt and milk and that’s that. WIAW Bfast

10:45am — Had a snack before I went to yoga and bouldering. WIAW preworkout snack

2:50pm — Came home from 75 minutes of yoga, and 1 hour bouldering and filled my belly with this delicious lunch. I didn’t want my sandwich to end. I’m definitely picking up more of these. They’re from Whole Foods and simply turkey and cheese on a baguette, but good lord that bread was the perfect amount of crunch to chewiness. Craving it already.WIAW lunch

6:25pm — Feelin’ a bit hungry but not fully ready for supper to be cooked. So I made myself a cup of tea (Tetley! The only way to go) and 2 pieces of Whole Foods biscotti. Hit the spot.WIAW 6pm snack

7:45pm — Hungry for supper. Made a huge chicken salad with feta, mushrooms, green pepper, tomatoes, dried cranberries, and carrots. No dressing, I prefer it that way.WIAW salad supper

10:25pm — The Guy and I went to the movies and saw X-Men. I never not buy popcorn and a drink to share. We had the entire theatre to ourselves!WIAW popcorn

What snacks do you buy when you go to the movies?

What are you making for supper?

Today is National Running Day, thanks to Sheena for letting me in on the know-how. So I’m thinking of going to Yoga first (we’ll see) then doing the longest run of my entire life. Take a while guess at what I’m going to do. Hahahaha. Guess.
