Economic downturn

Here are the three cars that I’ve been looking at. They’re little, they’re good on gas and they’re reliable says the Consumer’s Report magazine. I haven’t fully looked into the actual specs of these three cars yet. I’ve only driven one of them (the mazda 3 on a manual transmition).

Gas prices went down from $1.19 a litre a few months ago, to $0.72 that I saw a few days ago. It’s absolutely unbelievable! I said I’d start saving for a five grand down payment starting January 2009 for a second hand car that I’d have July first, but seeing the prices going down … I may have to start looking now. I mean, I’ll be budgeting $400 biweekly for a car, and spending $58/mth on a bus pass. I guess the frugal mind of mine thought it might be neat to have a lump sum of money to hand over to one of the car dealerships, so I wouldn’t need to take a larger loan out, at work. Thankfully I work in the Financial Industry and one of the Head ‘Loan Officers’ will come with me to scope out these three vehicles… or any other car I may have my eye on in the next few months.

I don’t know how people do it. I don’t know how people can live without a car. It makes me so angry trotting around in the frigid cold during the miserable winters. I’ve turned into a little old lady — scared of walking down hill because I may fall (and the hills aren’t even that big!). I’ve been shuffling along in my big winter boots that have traction, yet I seem to always slip on a daily basis. I should pick up a pair of those things that go over your boots that pick into the ice when you’re walking. I’m sure that will help me catch the bus flying by me, while I’m running for it in the A.M. I’ve only gone since 2006 without a car, and my boyfriend used to take the bus to high school and university. I guess I’m spoiled, and used to borrowing my parents car. It’s been about a year since I last drove a vehicle. I can’t wait to go home for Christmas and use my parents car again. Independence!

Now if I was getting 20g’s more a year, I’d think about getting the Acura TSX, leather interior, heated seats, sun roof. I’d go allllll out. Now all I’ll have to do is keep my eye out for some cheap auto insurance. Shouldn’t be too much of a big deal. I’ve been driving ten years now and no reported accidents. Just sometimes flyin’ into a ditch :(

I think boyfriend is feeling the need to buy a new car as well. He mentioned to me the other day that he was looking at BMW 1 series, and Lexus’. C’MON! Don’t tell me that. I’m here looking at low–end cars. I wanna fancy one toooooo….

To do

I’ve been making all kinds of lists lately. I used to print out all kinds of recipes to fancy up our suppers. Every single one I made last week was enough to make one sick. Except for one. But the time I put into making it, isn’t something I’d put on one of my weekly menus.

Anyway. I like making to–do lists. So this is what I’ve got planned for this week:

Today: Annual General Meeting after work OMG OMG OMG… (226 people coming! yikes!)
Wednesday: 1) 8:15AM Chiro. 2) Go to drop in clinic to get a shot after work. (lol) 3) Pick up my new $90 indoor soccer shoes. So expensive :(
Thursday: Go to storage unit to get my Christmas party dress out, and my shoooooes. (I’ll need to post a picture and ask you guys for some help. It’s a black dress, but I don’t want my legs to be cold and I don’t know what color leggings/tights I should wear. I’ll post my shoes too.)
Friday: Head over to Linens ‘n Things and scope out some going out of business sales.
Saturday: Hop on the Greyound to Toronto, return something and buy a few last Christmas presents (mainly for BF. But I want to pick up these towels too).

and OMG just 28 more days until boyfriend and I go home for Christmas. EEEHEHE!

Some kinda mistake?

I’m pretty sure Abercrombie made a mistake on their website last week. I was looking on the clearance section, and I saw that this sweater was marked down to $15.00 from $108.00! Ow ow! Usually these type of sweater’s don’t get marked down further than forty bucks, especially not this time of year when they just came out. I mean, even tank tops aren’t usually fifteen for heaven sake. It just didn’t seem right at all, so I added two to my cart and checked out immediately. I told a few girls about it, and they too ordered a few for Christmas presents / themselves. Sure enough, the sweater was snagged off the website the next morning. It should be arriving in my arms before December 1. Oh yes. Bargains are wonderful. I wonder if anyone got fired because of that?

Too bad the Canadian dollar is so low in comparison to the American dollar. I always browse online for different looking shoes, or weird looking purses. I’m not the average black purse kinda gal. I only own two purses, one is salmon pink, and my daily one is a Nine West yellow one. Both from winners. Great purchases. I found a nice little American boutique online that sells some wonderful classy looking ladies footwear. I’m eying these blue heels (Uh, hello? Made in Italy!), but I can’t justify spending $89 American (which is equivalent to $110 Canadian). I don’t have that much disposable income people! Plus, the shipping would cost quite a bit to get here as well, don’t you think? But they’re on sallleeeeuhh… the evil impulse shopper in me wants to purchase them in my size before they sell out!

I think I’m all shopped out. I should really close off that window. Bleh!

I pulled my groin muscle at soccer a while ago, and each morning I wake up and I forget about it until I’m at the bus terminal and I need to step off the bus. Why is it that every morning, I step off on my left side — the one that hurts! I don’t understand it. I really should tape it up somehow lol. We’re totally unstoppable though, we haven’t lost a game yet in the two leagues that our team is playing on. Deadly beezzzzz.
