Work wear + a bit of shopping

Last night, let me tell you guys — I totally passed out at 7pm and didn’t wake up until 7:30am the next morning. Now tell me that isn’t a long slumber? I don’t even have a sleep number bed to blame it all on. I guess I was seriously somewhat exhausted? From what? I have no idea! I ended up doing a bit of shopping for my Mom’s birthday right after work. But I won’t be posting any photos of what I bought her because she occasionally reads this blog. Hi Momma!! But what I will show you are some crazy deals I got at Aeropostale. I rarely head into that store because I feel super old when I’m there, with all the 10 year old girls trying on stuff. But I secretly love the clothes there! So, I started browsing and found $5.99 flip flops. They were orignially $29.99. I picked up two pairs, aren’t they adorbs? Tell me they’re adorable!! I can’t wait for the weekend to wear them. Or maybe I can wear them to work? Hmm…I think I’m definitely going to go to this store more often because their sales prices are just insanely good.

ootdWork Attire post #2 … coming right up! (#1 can be viewed here, or just view all upcoming outfit posts under the Fashion category.)

I had to crop my face out in this one — I was making a sour face for no reason. Maybe the concentration of holding the blackberry steady so it wouldn’t blur my snapshot. You get the jist anyway. This was taken in the back room at work. Hee hee, sneaky. I have a white cardigan that goes over the top too, especially in an office environment when the A/C is cranked. Don’t forget to enlarge the image if you want to see a bigger photo.

Top: Purchased years ago (2006 for my “going away party” & moving from Newfoundland to Ontario) at Dynamite clothing store. It was probably $25 knowing that store.
Capris: these are from Jacob (price unknown/forgotten), and I bought them when I got hired at the Financial Institution in spring/summer 2007.
Shoes: Bought at Reitman’s in April/May–ish and are totally falling apart (mainly because I wore them out in the rain a few times. Oops). They were on clearance for $24.
White Cardigan [not pictured]: Purchased from Zara (in Toronto) last summer. $12!!!

Well isn’t that a sight? I had no idea my torso looked so short and stumpy in this top.  Perhaps these black capri’s aren’t the best match for this top.  ALSO…My chiropractor’s receptionist (who happens to be from Newfoundland too) really hates my shoes that I’m wearing in this photo. She says they’re too wide for my feet. I don’t care though, they’re pretty comfy, and cheap — of course, they’re falling apart now since I sit in my chair with my shoes on facing the floor. So my right ‘toe’ on every shoe is basically worn out. Wow I really need to purchase some new things. I hadn’t realized my clothes seemed so … old. I promise, I do shop! :)

I have a serious back log of “work attire” outfits that I have yet to post! How exciting. Stay tuned for the next couple of days!

[This ‘outfit of the day’ was worn on July 14, 2009.]

Where I blog

k

First of all I want to wish my cute little nephew a Happy Third Birthday. Unfortch for me he’s in Ireland and he’ll just be getting a phone call from auntie nancy tonight. :) My brother is on his way back to Ireland as I write this. He flies to Newfoundland every three weeks to work out on the oil rigs, and then flies back to Ireland when his 3 week shift finishes. I keep telling him I don’t want to hear any more birth announcements and finding out I have MORE little nephews (I have 4 lol).

Ok. Back on topic. Where I blog.

I’m not sure if this has been done before, or not. But I’d like to know where people update their websites from! I actually updated this site, and my other one from three different places! First I will show you where I am on a computer for 8 hours a day— my work ! (Remember that the images are clickable if you want to enlarge them.)

desk

This is my desk at work — photos do no justice. It’s actually pretty big so I guess I suck at taking good perspective photos. The office that you see above, used to be my bosses corner office which she gladly traded an open room to give me her office. I was always chilly in the open area and she was always over heated in the office. Since we’re both opposites she snuck around one day and totally reversed our spaces! I have the best boss, ever. Even after two years of working here, it’s so great! I have an office DOOR, two windows and *ahem* it’s the second biggest office in the building and of course the CEO has the largest one. Doesn’t that make me feel awesome? I think so!

boyfs

Secondly, I usually read blogs on my boyfriend’s leather couch when I’m at his place and he’s either at the gym (while I sit on my butt!) or on the bike trainer in the other room. I like to relax after a long day of being on the computer, by unwinding on a computer. Now tell me that isn’t nerdy! It really does relax me. Either that or I’ll turn on the TV for an hour to relax while I’m prepping supper.

bedroom

Lastly, this is my desk in the house that I rent with another girl (we have another room mate who moved in, in April but we’ve seen her maybe three times?) K and I are moving out at the end of August, and the 3rd room mate who we don’t see have already signed a lease for the house with her friends. So maybe she’s waiting on that? I don’t really know. Anyway that was a bit off topic, but this is where I rarely blog from. I’m not really at the house very often and when I am, I’m rarely on the computer. I’d rather socialize with my room mate, and her cats or play the Wii!

So that pretty much sums up my nerd area. Though I’d like to know where do you all blog from too! Post your photos and let me know, I’d like to see! :)

I eats the food

I did so much healthy eating this weekend it’s ridiculous — in a good way of course. I was tempted by Susan’s food posts to make a pita sandwich for myself, so while I was at the grocery store I picked up some pitas that were on sale and jam–packed it with my chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and green pepper. I gotta say, my bread purchasing skills were at an all time low as my pita just completely fell apart like wet paper towels would and it was so incredibly messy to eat. That was unfortunate.

What are your recommendations for ‘sturdy’ pita bread?

On Saturday, boyfriend and I ended up going to the Mennonite market and I picked up 6 stalks of corn (the sweetest, juiciest corn I’ve ever tasted in my entire life) and also a huge hunk of free salmon. Don’t need to repeat that one twice! I actually ended up cooking all of the corn on Saturday night as I thought we were going to end up eating it on the beach on Sunday. A few people ended up bailing so I did too since I didn’t want to wake up at 7:30AM to go. Boyfriend decided to go regardless and while he was gone I devoured a few corn on the cob. Tee hee.

Last night we ended up eating the salmon, corn on the cob and some potatoes that I had left over in the fridge. It was fantastic, especially since we haven’t had a bit of salmon in weeks. My boyfriend isn’t a fan of corn on the cob (omg??? I know!), so since Saturday I polished off four of the six corn on the cob. Oink oink~ I don’t think I’ll be purchasing that many again in the future. Maybe one or two … stocks? Is that what they’re called?

Hmm.

I just hit a writers block, and don’t really know what else to tell you guys today… so I’m gonna head off!
