Du it up

Today marked the official start of race season! That’s my boy in transition (wearing the orange Timex hat that I caught in the bleacher stands at Ironman Canada last year).

This morning we woke up early and headed to the Duathlon race site which conveniently was in our city. Cameras were prepped, soccer gear was packed, and we had a new companion with us this year — our pup Alfie!

Alfie was going wild today, so much so that I had to keep the head halter (it’s like a muzzle but not) on him the whole day. I took it off once, so he could take a break from it. But when I tried to put it back on he went wild and vicious and took a chunk of skin off my knuckle. Little kids all wanted to pet him, and I’m all “Uh nooo…. he’s not really friendly” which is unfortunate, because I’d like him to be friendly. I suppose taking him out to a busy spot like the Du today was good for him because by the end of it he was calm, and only barking occasionally at anyone who spooked him from behind. Either that or he got sun stroke. I KID I KID!

It was pretty scorching out there today. I think it ended up being 29º. I drank two of these bottles, which I shared with Alfie too. He was panting the whole day – even while we were in the shade. Poor dog is so fluffy and furry, he isn’t used to the heat.

I thought I would be fine with this light cardigan, but I ended up taking it off and just wearing the tank top and shorts the whole day. Too hot with even a light sweater. I wore a nude colored bra so you can’t really tell that it’s see through. Right? That’s what I’ll keep telling myself anyway.

First wave start. It was extremely difficult to take photos at the beginning because as I mentioned, Alfie was a huge handful and was being insane.

There goes Scott running by (orange hat far left corner lol).

Done the first 4k run and off he goes into transition with his coner (aero lol) helmet on. Hardcore.

Running out of transition! GO SCOTT!

Bike on!

Wow that was quick huh? Back from his 30k ride in no tiiiiiime.

Rather than waiting for him in transition again, I decided to set up shop and sit down and wait for him to come to me, so I could get a decent shot of him on the run. I think this one is just “ok”. It’s hard to get a good action shot!

There he goes! Okay, you can’t really see him – my camera is pretty slow to take swift pictures.

By this time, Alfie was getting calm yet overheated. We stayed in the shade as much as we could. But towards the end I waited in the sun for him to come around the corner to finish his last 4k run!

Annnnnnd there he goes! Strong til the finish!

Break time :)

Once Boyfriend’s race was over, we immediately headed to my soccer game which was at 2:00 not too far away from the Duathlon, conveniently. I ended up changing before the game but we wanted to wait for the awards ceremony because my Boyfriend placed in his age group. Way to go!

I ended up not making the first half of our game. We did end up winning from my assist though! I crossed it over beautifully (if I do say so myself) and another forward plopped ‘er right into the net. Score ended up being 2-1!!

They must have ran out of men’s medium shirts for the boyfriend, so I ended up getting a great free technical tee (perfect for running) for myself! I didn’t end up taking a picture of it because it’s in the other room and I’m exhausted now. Being out in the heat, running around was enough to knock us both out cold. Add to the fact that I pulled my groin muscle at soccer this afternoon, I think it’s safe to say we’re going to have a relaxing evening.

Great gifts

I’m always trying to find a unique gift for my Irish nephews (who are moving to Canada!!!!!!!!). There’s four of them ranging from 18, 11, 3, and 2. The three year old will have his fourth birthday in July and I’ve only met him once.

That doesn’t’ stop me from being a super cool aunt and getting him gifts. I already have the two little one’s birthday and Christmas ideas picked out. They both come from the same Etsy seller too! Maybe I can get myself a deal :)

Want to see what I’ve been eying? Of course you do…

Super hero cape. All little boys love these. I’m sure my nephews will get a kick out of these. Especially with the eye masks.

Monster bathrobes! This will be their Christmas gift I think…one blue, one purple. It even comes in a frog, duck and monkey pattern!

Want to know the Etsy seller? Leave a message in the comments and I’ll get back to you! :)

Etsy is a perfect place to buy things securely online due to their fancy POS systems by paying via paypal, OR credit card. Very safe! I think Etsy is the place I’ve shopped online the most for any gift.

Buyers remorse

I NEED HELP! Tell me which items you love/hate! Be honest! I love honest opinions.

So I decided to go ahead and post some outfits that I bought yesterday and today.

First up is a peacock printed dress that was pretty inexpensive for a dress, but expensive in H&M’s store. It was $39.95. I’m not sure that I want to keep it. When I first tried it on, I loved it. But I have a few issues with it. It’s too revealing and incredibly low cut (the first picture, the dress is ‘hiked up’ so it actually does go lower than this, and you can see my bra. Classy.) So I bought a camisole to go underneath, and now the straps seem a bit too large and kind of fall off my shoulders. I hate that I had to buy a cami to go under it. They didn’t have any more smaller sizes in this dress and I had to get a bigger one. I’m iffy on this. The only thing that made me want to buy it for sure was the pattern, and fabric. It’s gorg. Opinions?

Second outfit in the running is mainly from Old Navy! This cardigan was pretty stupidly expensive from Old Navy, but it’s nice and I wanted a bold color instead of wearing my basic boring colored cardigans in the colors black, white, oatmeal, and a green. The long shorts are also from Old Navy. Those are a keeper. Tank underneath is a really nice one, but now that I see up close, it may be sort of see through? Ew… but I love it. It was $18 at Jacob. Thoughts on this outfit? I may wear this one to work on Tuesday!

I also purchased 3 v neck tops from Old Navy. If you bought two or more they were cheaper… or something. I think they ended up being $8 each? I love them. Perfect for layering, which you’ll see below.

I don’t normally wear skirts, but I definitely ended up trying on more last night than I did in my entire lifetime I think. This one I’m not sure is “me“, it’s super businessey looking and actually very flattering on in person. It’s just – when the heck am I going to wear this? At least I had a $10 birthday coupon for it. It came from Ricki’s. Ehhhh…..

Then I went to Jacob and picked out some nice pieces. I think the pink tank will go back though. I also bought a white one (which you can see in the photos above – with the bright blue cardy)

Excuse the sweats… had to re-take photos of this pink/salmon colored tank.

The cardigan was something I was itching to buy. I tried on the brown/white stripe too, in XS but they didn’t have an XS in the grey. I loved the grey more, and hopefully it’ll shrink in the wash. It wasn’t much of a size difference, but more so in the arms. I don’t think it looks too sloppy does it? I’ll be pairing this with a white belt I think, across the ribs. I’ve never worn one of those “new style” (lol) belts before, and the sales associate at Jacob had me try on like 6. I loved one, but one of the buttons were broke, so I may go back and get it this week when they get more stock in my size.I layered it both with the grey tee from Old Navy, and then with the coral colored tank which … looks good. Should I return that coral one? Halp!

UGH. I LOVE long cardigans.

I bought this baby at Banana Republic last weekend. As soon as I bought it, they gave me abunch of 40% off coupons for certain dates. I think I’m going to go back to the mall and get the exact same one, and return this one (which still has the tags!). It’s so pretty. I can’t wait to see if I can get it for cheaper, hahaha!

See it up close and personal? So comfy, and so soft. Recommended purchase for sure. A bit of a splurge though.

Yes. I went wild at the mall. It’s okay though. I didn’t spend as much as you think I did. Or did I? :/

Now, please leave feedback. All of you! :)

I think I’m going to return the skirt (even though it’s perfect for business attire, and/or an interview – I just don’t feel liek I’d wear it enough), and maybe the H&M dress, and the coral top… Hmm. Decisions.
