What did I do wrong?

I was in the mood to cook a feast last night and I ended up making chicken pot pie (recipe grabbed from a Campbells cook book that I’ll actually post up soon) and apple crisp for dessert.

I have no idea what I did wrong when I was following Kristin’s recipe. Her’s looks so … crispy.

Where as mine ended up being very wet. I’m not giving up just yet as it’s one of the better apple crisps I have tasted in ages. I just wish it would’ve been crispier. I thought it was because we have an older style oven in the apartment, so I cooked it 10 minutes longer than the recipe called for. It still looked wet — I ended up cooking the darn thing twice as long (a whole hour). Which resulted in soggy apples. But whatever, it’s good in my mouth.

Notice the nice burn crusty marks and soggy oats.

Anyone know why it wasn’t as crispy though? Help appreciated!

Alfie’s first birthday

Regardless of the rainy Saturday, it was Alfie’s first birthday and we were taking him on a walk.

I bundled him up with his little rain coat and hood which he absolutely despised but left it on after we distracted him with treats. Doesn’t he look like a cute fox with his manly blue rain coat? Little guy.

He was excited to get over to the grassy area and was pulling on the leash. What did 10 months and 4 levels of dog training do to him? Heal Alfie, no pulling!

Too bad I had the ISO set to 1600. The photos are overly grainy. You try capturing a photo of the 6 pounder sprinting past you.

I definitely captured him mid-wink. He’s loving his walk ;)

Swan + Dog = Mistake. The swan hissed at him and of course since Alfie was so close to the water on the warf he was extermly curious. Needless to say we got out of there fairly quickly. I didn’t want the angry Swan to take a peck out of Alfie’s little schnoz.

Can you believe he actually launched over this? The boyf and I were playing with him and hiding on him. He spotted the Boyf and bolted over this concrete thing!

Then it was my time to hide and crouch down, wait for him and take an action shot.

BOOM.  Mister Power House himself, found me. Whatta guy.

He loves you all. Smiles and kisses!

Happy 365 days of being around Mister Schnogg.

He was so filthy at the end of the walk. Then it was time for a bath. Pitiful :)

So-long all!

My item from CSN stores

I had another chance to review an item from CSN stores. As I have mentioned many times before, it takes me weeks to pick an item out. Even though there are 200 CSN stores available online — I kind of want them to branch out into a Women’s clothing line. More specifically: activewear. I have been looking for an inexpensive half or full zip running jacket for the chillier months running outdoors.

I had a voucher for CSN stores and I still had a hard time picking something out, as I want to get the best bang for my buck so to speak. With the exception of me paying International Fees — which varies for whatever you purchase. For example, I always admire the Dwell Studio line.

I was even lusting after this bed set. Except the full/double size bed we have — I’d have to tack on an additional $29 for the $99 asking price. No thanks.  Know what I mean when I say it takes me ages to pick something out?

Well it took me weeks but I did it.

What’d I get?

Alfie sure likes it!

I ended up picking out this chair October 12, which was available on the website and it still says 30+ available, but it must have been back ordered somewhere in between and it only shipped on October 18. It wasn’t a huge deal to me at all seeing as I already have had an old ratty computer chair. It shipped from the United States on the Monday the 18th and ended up getting to me at work on Friday the 22nd!

The boyfriend helped me assemble it on Friday night.

It was packaged pretty well with cloth wrapping around the arm rests. However when I opened it up I noticed a pink stain on it. Not a huge biggie, but still thought I’d mention it.

Here’s the side view of the “chrome” looking finish.

Love how fast the shipping was, seeing as the expected delivery dated was NOVEMBER.  It’s luxurious and soft, and oh so comfortable on my toosh.  It has great arm rests too, my other chair didn’t have those.

This chair was definitely worth it, even if I had to pay $30 worth of International Fees. Not a bad price for a leather computer chair. What do you think of it? Would you pick out a light chair like this? There’s definitely a huge variety of chairs available on the site ranging from neutrals to blacks and dark browns.

I kind of want someone to push me down the apartment hallway on this chair. :)
