Forget about sweater weather. It’s almost sock weather!

I disappeared for a week there, didn’t I?

I needed a break so I took it. Doesn’t mean I didn’t stop posting on social media, cause ya know you can’t tear me away completely b’ys.

What have I been up to last week? To be honest it wasn’t all that exciting, in fact it was the opposite — annoying if you must know.

I went to my first allergy appointment last week, because I could no longer handle the 6 weeks of hives. Taking a couple of over the counter allergy medication was driving me nuts, considering I rarely take ibuprofen during that time of the month. Taking pills all day long is totally not my jam.

Booked the appointment, did a bunch of breathing tests (tests show I now have asthma?!), 8 vials of blood was taken from me, and I was pricked in the back with 110 allergens. Allergic to nothing, blood test reports will be back soon. Then I booked another appointment with my family doctor for another issue. I stumped my doc but turns out I’m fine. Not only that, I brought up the concern I gained TEN pounds since the hive outbreak. Apparently it’s a side effect of the steroids I was on earlier.

Sooo. There’s that. I feel refreshed from taking a break off blogging for a week. Although my hives are still peeking through regardless of all the medication I’m on. But regardless, I’m going to start piddling through my fun makeup and skincare items I received this summer, because HELLO I can’t wait to try them out for myself and give you guys my honest opinion. And you know I’m going to be honest about that.

Ain’t no holding back. C’mon Beauty Talk Tuesday! Not-so-sneak-preview: I went to a Makeup Show Pop Up in San Francisco the other weekend. Had a blast but left early because: bloodshot eyes + hives made me really embarrassed. Recap soon! Of the event. Not the hives. Duh.

Madewell leather pouch beltDoesn’t this remind you of Girl Guides back in the 90’s?! I wonder if I still have my leather pouch back home in Newfoundland, haha can’t believe it’s making a come-back and from the coolest store (Madewell) at that.

Fun socks on a fun rugAnd I’m some bloomin’ excited the fall weather is coming back. That means sweater weather! I love wearing my hoodies and jeans…and socks without my feet roastin’ right off! I got some cute socks you guys. They’re right up there with my favourite things like stationary. Anyone else?

P.s: Tunes on Songza have been keeping me sane when I didn’t want to leave the house due to my appearance (ugly hives). :)

P.ps: Come back every day this week for a blog post — I’m on a roll!

Have you heard of Antipodes?

Antipodes-Connect-W-NatureAntipodes is a brand I reached out to, because I was genuinely interested in trying out. They are a New Zealand based natural, certified organic skincare + makeup brand that definitely knows their stuff. As I get older, the more I want to simplify my makeup routine, and focus more on protecting the ageing of my skin (preferably slowing it down as much as possible), and keeping it plump, hydrated and as healthy as it can be. Although, it all comes down to the fact of what you put in your body, not just topically with lotions and potions. But I won’t ramble on about how one needs to maintain a healthy diet/workout regime.

It’s going to take me a while to try out these products one by one, and genuinely give my honest feedback, if you’ve been following me on twitter or instagram you know I’ve been having a daily hive breakout for over a month. I have a high standard when it comes to reviewing products, either I reach out to the brands I’d like to work with, or I say yes to the brands I already know and trust. Then again there’s the odd time where I try something new, because that’s always fun.

First up, the easiest product to talk about, a hand and body cream:

Antipodes-JubilationGood golly, I will probably be out of this cream in no time. It’s the Jubilation hand and body cream suited to most skin conditions, especially dry. Not to mention, hoooooboy their packaging — they got it all down pat, let me tell you that much. Kinda ritzy looking, right? I feel fancy yet a bit like a guinea pig trying all these goodies out, mainly due to the fact that I sometimes go ahead and apply products to one side of my face, or one leg and not the other, and so on. It’s what I did the first time using the Jubilation cream. It sunk into my skin quickly and I didn’t apply it to the other leg at all — checking the status of the moisturization, and it felt smooth the entire day. I swear it lasted 10+ hours, I was definitely feelin’ up the right leg of mine quite a bit.

The scent is something I have never smelled before in my entire life. It’s a combo of pure plant fragrance of fig, feijoa and wild blackcurrant. So smoosh that together in your brain and imagine the scent. Can ya do it? You guys might already know that I don’t like anything vanilla/too sweet, and more of a natural, fresh, or spa like scent to it. I feel like this hand and body cream is unisex as it has a bit of a musky undertone to it.

Here’s the kicker: it’s $45 USD. Ouch. However, a nice splurge for yourself once in a while, right? To be honest, I don’t know if I love the product to drop that much money on it, but it certainly is a nice treat. And that cream spillage in the picture? It was totally used up on my hands after I was done photographing it.

Not to worry about shipping from Antipodes New Zealand, because they have an online store for the USA shoppers.

More product reviews from Antipodes coming soon! Promise! Just give me a few weeks to try out the products in order to give you my best opinion on them all.

You know what I missed? Outfits of the week!

It has been ages since I have done an outfits of the work week post, and since I am not working or dressing somewhat professionally on the regular, I let it slide.

Now that I have relocated to California with my husband and our pup, my style has become more laid back, with wearing jeans and tee-shirts type of deal on the regular; and I’m quite okay with that. I totally would’ve worn some of these outfits to work, if were acceptable. Maybe not the ripped jeans or the leggings though ;)

So I think I’m going to bring the outfits of the week back. Maybe not on a weekly basis like I used to do and post every Friday, but either bi-weekly or monthly. I think my style is pretty boring lately but who knows, maybe now that I’m publishing it on my blog I’ll get more motivation to style my outfits even if I’m not heading out anywhere. A lot of people expressed their interest, and said they have missed my OOTD posts — I’m happily surprised! But I too have missed doing them. Oh, also I won’t be linking where everything is from, since everything I own is quite old, or basics from your generic stores (forever 21 for instance, I don’t care if I’m too old to shop there, they have some amazing tee’s sometimes! Ain’t nobody got $50 to spend on a tee. That’s ridic., especially on my budget hahahaha)

Okay okay, here we go, and yes I’m wearing extensions in the last picture! (Click to enlarge the image if you want)ootw

P.S. Grey tee + white jeans is basically my summer uniform. I would wear that outfit every day if I could. Such a classic look in my opinion.

P.P.S What are your favourite outfits from this week?
