MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge

Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge is a waterproof liquid lip color that comes in a variety of different fun shades. These aren’t super new to Make Up For Ever but the color I received is a new one of five new colors for Summer 2013. In fact, Make Up For Ever first launched the Aqua Rouge liquid lip color last year (when I went to the launch of the event where I also met Madonna’s make up artist) in the flattering-on-every-skin-tone red.mufe-aqua-rouge-baby-pink

There’s nothing I find more high maintenance in my mind, than carrying around a ton of beauty products with you to touch up throughout the day. Clearly I’m the type of person who puts on their makeup in the morning and leaves it at that. Which is probably the only reason why I don’t fuss with lip products all that often. I just don’t like to reapply.

These liquid lip colors by Make Up For Ever claims to be long lasting with an intense color payoff that lasts as long as a lip stain. While lip stains are a little more drying, Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Rouge isn’t.

It has a velvety finish and the color payoff is so opaque. It doesn’t feeling drying on your lips so it’s just beautiful to wear, especially when I have my self tanner on. I did have to apply the baby pink color in layers, and wait for it to dry. I don’t like a matte lip so I wanted to apply the clear gloss over top.

mufe aqua rougeI first applied the product at 9:30am, and it lasted until about 1:00pm since I had an oily lunch (I topped my spinach salad with balsamic vinaigrette and coconut oil). Oil breaks down waterproof makeup. Plus, I’m a lick-lipper and products don’t last on me.

Watch Judy’s 5 minute video of the Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge. She gives great first impressions of beauty related products.

This summer they’ve launched a few new colors and now Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge liquid lip color is available in 17 different shades at Sephora. It retails for $27 CAD (or $24 USD). make-up-for-ever-aqua-rouge

It’s basically a watery lipstick consistency and it’s so opaque. I absolutely love the  love doe-foot applicators. Shown below is the color #20, Baby Pink.baby-pink-Aqua-Rouge-MUFE

What has been keeping my skin sane

Full disclosure: I’ve gone through bottles of Eucerin that I’ve bought for myself. However the products shown below were sent to me for free.

I’ve been on a moisturizing kick ever since this past winter. Your skin seriously feels touch-ably smooth when you apply moisturizer every time you step out of the shower. It literally takes 3 minutes to slather up your body and keep the moisture in for a full 24 hours. If you’re not so new to reading my blog. You might already know how much of a fan I am of Eucerin calming cream to treat my (winter) eczema at home.

Even though I don’t have eczema year round, I still like to keep my body moisturized and especially summer ready now that it’s getting warm here in Ontario.

Eucerin-calming-cream

This totally sounds like an infomercial. But hear me out. Luckily I knew Eucerin would do the trick in keeping me scale-free, moisturized and crack-free.

I thought I was going to get away with not dealing with eczema this past winter, because it came on so late. But luck isn’t on my side when it comes to dry itchy skin during the later parts of winter. My eczema flare ups aren’t as bad as some people’s. But it does annoy the crap out of me and I usually try to treat it at home with drugstore products that don’t have harmful chemicals in it (like steroids).

It ain’t Elle Magazine approved for nothin’! This stuff is so thick, and doesn’t leave a scent or a greasy film to the body. Eucerin Calming Creme

Eucerin is no stranger to my skin. If it’s a good product I’m going to rebuy it, and talk about it constantly on my blog. I think I talked about it so much I grabbed the PR companies attention. They sent me an abundance of Eucerin products to try out, especially the Eucerin Calming Crème and Eucerin Aquaphor Protectant Ointment.

I know. That’s a lot of products to take in. I admit, I haven’t had the chance to try everything out since holy generous amount of products. eucerin-products

Shown:

  • Calming Creme x2
  • Aquaphor Protectant Ointment x2
  • New DermatoClean Mild Cleansing Lotion
  • New DermatoClean Clarifying Toner
  • Hyal-Urea Anti-wrinkle Day Cream
  • Hyal-Urea Anti-wrinkle Night Cream
  • Smoothing Foot Cream with 10% Urea
  • Sample sized: Calming Itch Relief Lotion
  • Sample sized: Calming Creme
  • Sample sized: Calming Foaming Shower Gel

Fun fact. I went into Target and found that the Eucerin Calming Cream was a few bucks cheaper than anywhere else I’ve seen. It was around $10.99 give or take a few cents at Target. So if you want to try it out, definitely buy it from there. Everywhere else was $13.00+.

TweezermanPumiceStone

I’m in the stages where I’m now exfoliating on a semi-daily basis due to the fact that I like to self-tan in these warmer months. I scrub my heels daily with the tweezerman pumice stone I purchased at Sephora a few years ago (that stone lasts forever. It’s just as ‘sharp’ as it was when I bought it). So my elbows, heels and everywhere else aren’t chapped, chafed or cracked. So I can’t really review the product until any of those painful skin irritations come along again in the winter.

I did use the Eucerin Aquaphor Protectant Ointment (retails: $10 CAD) for the first time on my heels to try it out. Can’t believe I’m showing my feet online. But it’s just a section of it, lol. So there ya go. Nicely moisturized heels and perfect for summer sandals.

Do you know what this product reminds me of? The Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream that I also blog about quite frequently.aquaphor

You can see the consistency of the ointment on my finger, in the photo above. Very thick. Easier to rub in than the Neutrogena â€” and again, doesn’t leave a greasy film on the skin. You can use your keyboard/computer mouse and it doesn’t leave a moisturized stain. Hate it when products do that.

This isn’t just a review to rave about these (awesome) Eucerin products. You guys get to try it out too.eucerin-prize

  • Calming Cream

Teaching your dog how to swim

Some dogs are very eager to jump into a lake and swim for hours on end, and others? They just aren’t water dogs. But it’s important to teach them the basics of swimming.

We don’t own a pool, or know anyone who owns a pool. But I wanted to take this water adventure course with my co-worker (the CEO of our company) and her two boxer dogs out in Brantford, Ontario so Alfie would eventually know how to swim if the opportunity ever occurs.  Or, just chill out on a surf board with five other dogs.how many dogs fiton a surfboard

I didn’t bring my camera because I was almost waist-deep in the water with Alfie the entire time. So the photos are from the other dog owners.

Did you know that there’s an improper way for dogs to swim? And guess what? The doggy paddle is the incorrect way. Huh. I never knew that either.

Alfie most definitely put the brakes on when I was dragging him into the water to get his belly wet. He was so very hesitant and cried quietly at me the entire afternoon that we were there. He probably hated me for it. But I know it was good for him to learn the proper technique in swimming. No one wants our poor lil’ puppa’s to drown!alfie and white dogs

I had to take him into the water and let him chill out. It took a good few minutes (which seemed like hours) to get him to calm down and stop pulling on the leash towards shore. But soon enough he was standing still with the leash loose, not panicking. 6 dogs on a surf board

How did I teach Alfie how to swim properly? I had his leash in one hand and I had my hand under his belly with the other hand.

Some dogs do not know how to swim. They forget to use their back legs and the swim upright, hence the doggy paddle. They use their front legs to propel them, when that uses way too much energy. Holding their underbelly teaches them the use of their back legs and keeps them flat on the water, and not upright.

There was use of a canoe that we borrowed from the trainers to get the dogs comfortable being on something wobbly on the water (like the surf boards weren’t enough). But Alfie seemed to really enjoy the canoe. He jumped in, and sat down immediately waiting for commands from me. It was pretty funny. alfie surfing

The first (and last) time I was in a canoe was in 1996 on a wilderness canoe trip I did as a teenager. There was a small currant in the lake we were in over the weekend, and I said I’d be fine but clearly I forgot how to paddle. Slowly but surly I was drifting towards the other side of the pond with just Alfie and myself in the canoe. Thankfully there was a long ass rope attached to the canoe and I got pulled back by the other attendees.alfie and the two dogs

Any guesses as to what Alfie’s nick name was when he was soaking wet? Chewbacca.
