Popcorn for supper!

Popcorn for supper!

Those that know me, understand the meaning behind when I announce that I’m having popcorn for supper.  It means the boyfriend is out of town, and I don’t have to cook. So I don’t. Instead, I have popcorn for supper.

Since I’m usually home alone and bored when he’s gone. I also like to organize things. This can be either a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at the situation. It looks good, yea — but I have no idea where I put anything. Oops?

My target shopping trips have been steady and on a rigerous routine since it opened. Each Sunday (with skipping a few because hello weekly is a little overboard) I head over to Target to spot some goodies.

I bought 2 pairs of PJ bottoms, 5 new pairs of Gillian & O’Malley thongs (the best) and scoped out some organizing tips from this fancy aisle.Target aisles

When the boyf was away last weekend I took it upon myself to finally organize the bedroom step-by-step. I got out the handy dandy measuring tape and got to work. Once I had all my measurements down pat I knew that before I went to Ikea to get the supplies I wanted to check Target’s prices, and to scope out the price of the rubbermaid closet organizer I was given to review on my blog. heh. It was $49.99. Target Closet Helper

I’ve been wanting a new desk out in the living room for my computer for the longest time, and I also wanted to have a book shelf in the bedroom for shoes and makeup storage. I don’t want to reveal everything fun and organizey in one post, so that will have to wait another time.

Thank goodness I had a ton of patience this day because I had to read the instructions on how to put it together, and sort through years of the boyf’s clothes that he doesn’t like to purge even though he hasn’t worn them in the 8 years I’ve known him.

The closet is all of the boyf’s stuff. I hang up my blazers and dresses but my tops and pants are elsewhere in the bedroom. Brace yourselves. Just looking at this makes me short of breath ;) This is how the bedroom closet looked like before:Closet-before

We tried organizing the closet in the past with these hanging cubes. It worked for a little while. But as you can see it ended up not working to our advantage.

The Rubbermaid Closet Helper was fool-proof. If I get impatient reading instructions yet can still put this together, that’s tellin’ ya something. No tools required either. Meaning no structural damage done because we still live in an apartment building. Closet-Before-and-After

First I gutted the closet and laid out all the clothes on the bed. Holy moses it was a high pile. I was starting to get overwhelmed. Alfie is holding down the fort, making sure I’m doing everything rightfully so. gutted

Sometimes I just walk away, do something else and come back to the task at hand. Anyone else like this? I swear this took 5 hours longer than it should’ve. Just because i decided to do laundry, eat lunch and shower in between putting this closet together. Success:Closet-Helper-built

Now to put all the clothing back. Will it all fit? I had no idea. I hoped it would…I started color co-ordinating his shirts by color. One side is all short sleeved shirts, the other side had long sleeved.  Hot dang, it all freaking fits! Halleluiah. This is when I started getting excited, bbming the pics to the boyf, and instagramming them.  rubbermaid-closet

It feels so refreshing to finally be able to look at the closet and not want to cringe at the sight. In fact, I got rid of 15 or go hangers. Everything fit in the closet again! Mostly because the second rod was added on the bottom, which is where my blazers are stored along with the Boyf’s ties and a pair of his dress pants.

What has been keeping my skin sane

Full disclosure: I’ve gone through bottles of Eucerin that I’ve bought for myself. However the products shown below were sent to me for free.

I’ve been on a moisturizing kick ever since this past winter. Your skin seriously feels touch-ably smooth when you apply moisturizer every time you step out of the shower. It literally takes 3 minutes to slather up your body and keep the moisture in for a full 24 hours. If you’re not so new to reading my blog. You might already know how much of a fan I am of Eucerin calming cream to treat my (winter) eczema at home.

Even though I don’t have eczema year round, I still like to keep my body moisturized and especially summer ready now that it’s getting warm here in Ontario.

Eucerin-calming-cream

This totally sounds like an infomercial. But hear me out. Luckily I knew Eucerin would do the trick in keeping me scale-free, moisturized and crack-free.

I thought I was going to get away with not dealing with eczema this past winter, because it came on so late. But luck isn’t on my side when it comes to dry itchy skin during the later parts of winter. My eczema flare ups aren’t as bad as some people’s. But it does annoy the crap out of me and I usually try to treat it at home with drugstore products that don’t have harmful chemicals in it (like steroids).

It ain’t Elle Magazine approved for nothin’! This stuff is so thick, and doesn’t leave a scent or a greasy film to the body. Eucerin Calming Creme

Eucerin is no stranger to my skin. If it’s a good product I’m going to rebuy it, and talk about it constantly on my blog. I think I talked about it so much I grabbed the PR companies attention. They sent me an abundance of Eucerin products to try out, especially the Eucerin Calming Crème and Eucerin Aquaphor Protectant Ointment.

I know. That’s a lot of products to take in. I admit, I haven’t had the chance to try everything out since holy generous amount of products. eucerin-products

Shown:

  • Calming Creme x2
  • Aquaphor Protectant Ointment x2
  • New DermatoClean Mild Cleansing Lotion
  • New DermatoClean Clarifying Toner
  • Hyal-Urea Anti-wrinkle Day Cream
  • Hyal-Urea Anti-wrinkle Night Cream
  • Smoothing Foot Cream with 10% Urea
  • Sample sized: Calming Itch Relief Lotion
  • Sample sized: Calming Creme
  • Sample sized: Calming Foaming Shower Gel

Fun fact. I went into Target and found that the Eucerin Calming Cream was a few bucks cheaper than anywhere else I’ve seen. It was around $10.99 give or take a few cents at Target. So if you want to try it out, definitely buy it from there. Everywhere else was $13.00+.

TweezermanPumiceStone

I’m in the stages where I’m now exfoliating on a semi-daily basis due to the fact that I like to self-tan in these warmer months. I scrub my heels daily with the tweezerman pumice stone I purchased at Sephora a few years ago (that stone lasts forever. It’s just as ‘sharp’ as it was when I bought it). So my elbows, heels and everywhere else aren’t chapped, chafed or cracked. So I can’t really review the product until any of those painful skin irritations come along again in the winter.

I did use the Eucerin Aquaphor Protectant Ointment (retails: $10 CAD) for the first time on my heels to try it out. Can’t believe I’m showing my feet online. But it’s just a section of it, lol. So there ya go. Nicely moisturized heels and perfect for summer sandals.

Aquaphor-Skin-protect-ointm

Do you know what this product reminds me of? The Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream that I also blog about quite frequently.aquaphor

You can see the consistency of the ointment on my finger, in the photo above. Very thick. Easier to rub in than the Neutrogena â€” and again, doesn’t leave a greasy film on the skin. You can use your keyboard/computer mouse and it doesn’t leave a moisturized stain. Hate it when products do that.

This isn’t just a review to rave about these (awesome) Eucerin products. You guys get to try it out too.eucerin-prize

  • Calming Cream
  • Aquaphor Protectant Ointment
  • Hyal-Urea Anti-wrinkle Day Cream

Father’s Day Presents

Full Disclosure: I received the Parker Urban pen to review on my blog, and to give one away to my Canadian readers. I was not compensated for this post. Read away!

Let’s hear it for the Dad’s out there!

What are some of your favorite memories of your Father? I have many that come to mind:

  • I remember him teaching me how to ride my bicycle in our previous house. I was peddling so fast I remember looking over my shoulder to see if he was still there. There he was, running full tilt trying to keep me safe with his hand on the back of my seat so I wouldn’t fall.
  • Doing countless under-ducks on the swing set in the backyard that my parents built for us.
  • I remember even though he was faint at the sight of blood, he still helped clean up my scraped knee wounds… all while making a “schhhhh” noise in between his teeth to let me know that it was painful looking and he was glad it wasn’t his knees ;)
  • I helped him go out to different building sites when he was an Architect, and my job was to “slap” the chalk line on the wall. lol… hey I loved it.
  • He makes really amazing bacon. I can’t even make it that good, and I make it weekly now.
  • He shares his candy with me. It’s a pretty big deal, especially since he hides it in all sorts of places all over the house.

So cheers to all the Daddio’s out there who are just starting out as first-time-Dad’s, changing diapers without being asked, fathers who push you on swings and make you frozen pizza or kraft dinner, every day for lunch. Thanks to all of you. You’ve given your children a priceless gift, by being there for us.

Father’s Day is coming up next Sunday and I’d like help you guys out with another special giveaway that may seem small in the grand scheme of things, but something none-the-less. I did the same type of giveaway for Mother’s Day last month.

So in lieu of Father’s Day and 2013 being the 125th Anniversary of Parker Pens, I’m hosting a giveaway!Parker-Pen

My Dad is a huge pen fanatic, just like myself (that’s where I get it from, I think). So I’ll be bringing this pen down to Newfoundland with me at the end of the month to give it to him. He’ll definitely appreciate it.Parker-IM-pen-in-hand

Parker Urban in a black finish. Total retail value of the Parker Urban pen exceeds $50.

Parker-IM-PenSide note: I’m so not left-handed (wish I was). I just can’t take pictures with my left hand lol.

The PARKER Urban is a cool, new generation pen that redefines modern writing and reinvents the rules. It combines
ergonomics with art to give an unconventional bullet shape with perfect weight and balance.

One pen will be given away to a lucky Canadian reader. Contest only open to Canadian residents. I will draw the name within 24 hours and if the winner does not respond within 48 hours, I will re-draw.
