Golden Globes nails

I’m a little late on the Golden Globes blog post, but that’s because I don’t have cable TV and I missed out on it. That didn’t stop me from tuning in. Social media works its wonders and by the end of the night I knew who was stylish, who was wearing rugs, and who looked orange. The next morning I woke up and knew exactly who to google-image.

What isn’t really documented much, is the painted nails that are styled with the dresses and expensive accessories that the actresses wear. I don’t doubt that a lot of the stylists use expensive products but what kind of nail polish are they wearing? Who knows, right? Unless people like Jessica Alba were instagramming while they were getting ready, we’d never know!

JessicaAlbaInstagramBy the way, Jessica Alba did instagram that photo.

As for the Golden Globes, manicurists turned to Sally Hansen to create some of the nail looks for the red carpet for Adele and Jennifer Lawerence!

AdeleAdele’s nail look was created using both Sally Hansen colors in ‘So Much Fawn’, with two ‘Copper Penny’ layered on top.  The top coat was finished off with an exclusive just for the Golden Globes. It had gold in it to help enhance the color in Copper Penny. Crazy hey? Wonder if that last coat is available in stores.

Jennifer LawrenceJennifer Lawrence, wore Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Sheer Ecstasy. Lawrence’s nails were shaped “sqound” giving both a square and round look. Betcha never heard that term before! Knew to me, too. Sqound…I like that.

This color reminds me a lot of my favorite nail polish of all time; Pink Slip by Sally Hansen.

Sally-Hansen-Pink-SlipI picked up a bottle of it in Target when I went to California two summer’s ago. It’s still my favorite polish color. I found out about it at the hair salon I used to go to. I asked the receptionist if her nails were acrylics or shellac but it wasn’t. It was good ol’ Sally.

What is your favorite nail polish color?
For my fingernails, I’ve already answered but for my toes I love China Glaze’s Flip Flop Fantasy for summer, and OPI An Affair In Red Square for Christmas.

Rexall Bioderma deal

Pop into your local Rexall and save money on the travel sized version of Bioderma! I rarely step inside a Rexall since there isn’t really one near me, unless I go out of my way and drive a different route home from work. I usually like what they have for sale at that store, so occasionally I pop in.

I’m not sure if this is regular price, or sale. Either way. I stocked up. This isn’t even my regular cleanser anymore. It’s more of a “I can’t use this often since it’s so dang pricy, so I’ll use my Philosophy one for now“.  bioderma-trial-sized

250ml bottle — $22.00
100ml bottle — $6.95 each (cost of $17 if it were 250ml!)

Unfortunately I lost one of these already. Don’t even ask me how. I just got home, too. I had one in my purse and the rest in a reusable baggu bag. bioderma-trial-sized2

I plan on sending one of these down to my sister in law for her birthday next month. It’s the most gentle cleanser, and gets off water proof eye make up like nobodies business. It literally feels like water on your eyes. No irritation whatsoever. Then again the Purity by Philosophy is like that too, just creamier.

Mickey Mouse is hiding

Last weekend I was browsing through the Restoration Hardware catalogue that comes to our apartment every few months. I remember hearing about that store from my interior decorator neighbour back home in Newfoundland, literally ten or more years ago. That store was something I had always admired, and always aspired my house to look like “when I grew up”. I finally had the chance to step inside a Restoration Hardware store when I went to San Diego California two summers ago with a few girls. I bought two very large bath sheets.

Years later, I still get the catalogue and continue to flick through them to this day. Their stuff is crazy expensive, but it doesn’t stop me from admiring from afar.

One thing that caught my eye was their advertised Christmas stocking made with faux fur. Can you believe that the Boyfriend and I don’t have our own stockings for one another? I think that ought to change this year.

I have these one’s picked out from the store. If only we had a fireplace that Santa could get down in…

Anyhoodle. Stockings are my most favorite part of opening Christmas presents. Here are a few of my favorite items that I would normally find in mine:

  • Terry’s Chocolate Orange
  • Toothbrush
  • EOS lip balm
  • A nice juicy ripe apple
  • Socks ‘n underwear
  • Deodorant
  • Small games/gadgets
  • Candy

To save you the trouble of going out and buying all your stocking stuffers this year —I’ll help you with one of the items listed. This is EOS’ first ever branded collaboration.

It’s a limited edition EOS lip balm inspired by Disney’s Alice in Wonderland!

You’ll notice that the design has a “Hidden” Mickey Mouse head imprint on the Smooth Spheres. Its packaging is  sophisticated, yet whimsical and playful.

EOS is one of my top favorite lip balms to use. I currently have a lighter pink one (strawberry shortcake I think) sitting at my desk as we speak.

Fun fact: Did you know Mickey Mouse just had his birthday this month? I asked the talented Barb, if I could use her fun illustration on my website to showcase his birthday and thankfully she agreed. Follow her on Twitter or Instagram (dearbarbz) for more amazing drawings. She is so talented.  It’s unreal. I actually save a few of her drawings for inspiration, since I’m a Graphic Designer. Love her stuff.

Five people will be winning a set of the two eos smooth sphere’s shown above. Just enter your information in the rafflecopter below.

Contest is open only to Canadians.
