Weekend Recap

I know it’s Tuesday and a little late. But I still wanted to get up a weekend recap blog post for you guys. Seeing how I had a little more fun than usual this weekend.

Only shopping can get me out of bed at 6:30am on the weekends. That was my plan on Saturday. Dressed for the occasion. I love it when the weather cooperates and you can choose between pants or shorts and be comfortable either way. That’s my favorite kind of weather.

ootd-satOutfit deets: Smart Set cardigan, Dynamite tank, Cassis belt, Joe Fresh capris, Ardene sunnies, Zara handbag.

I got on the Greyhound bus and once getting to Toronto I did some damage at Holt Renfrew, Anthropologie, Sephora and Forever 21 (their $3.80 camisoles are now on for $1.80). All of my favorite stores. I filmed a YouTube video but when I replayed it back, my bra was showing the entire time. Awkward. I may still upload it. No shame here.

I was inside the Anthropologie store for a good hour and forty five minutes. At one point I had 18 items in the change room with me. If I had a gazillion dollars to spend, I would’ve bought this dress for $198. It was pretty on, but not worth it for that prize. I also had on a size zero which was kind of nuts seeing as I’m usually a 4. Have to admit, I loved seeing that tiny number on the dress and having it fit well. Paleo probably had something to do with it.dress at anthro

I bought two tops (first one in blue / can’t find the second)and this soap dish which I plan on using on my desk once I get it properly organized.

At Sephora the Philosophy crew were launching a new product. 5 weeks before any other Sephora, so I sat down and had a chat with the Philosophy rep’s that were there, explaining my favorite products by them all while learning about some new one’s too. I picked up a new eye cream. I was told the Miracle line is the next one to go to after Hope. I don’t want to discontinue my usage of Hope In a Jar, so I didn’t bother getting the face cream. Instead, I opted for the Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinoid Eye Repair. Mouthful. I also picked up the Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation that I’ve been dying to buy since I heard so many rave reviews on it in the last few months. I had a sample of it during my last visit to Toronto and really enjoyed the unusual texture. So I bought it.Giorgio-Armani

Funny little story. When I was at the cash register, the sales rep dropped the bottle of foundation on the floor and it smashed. Luckily it didn’t fly onto my white pants. But I thought I had picked up the last bottle in that particular shade (4.5), and I was getting a little worried. Thankfully another Sephora rep went out back and got me another new one. Whewf. Crisis averted. First world problems. Sephora-haul

Finally Philosophy is starting to do a gift-with-purchase, like all other brands (Clinique, and Lancome for instance). If I bought any Philosophy product that day, I got a pink satin bag full of Philosophy travel sized items. This made me a very happy shopper.Philosophy-gift

I went into Holt Renfrew shortly after that. I dread going in there because the sales associates work on commission and I always seem to get the same little lady. Always. Never fails. Out of the 5x I’ve been in there to buy this Bobbi Brown eye cream, I’ve had her 3x.Bobbi-Brown-Extra-Eye-Repai

I know her routine now. She compliments you, which lures you in — makes you in a better mood and perhaps opens your eyes to more purchases. I know so. Happens every darn time. Anyway, she wanted me to spend $35 on a bunch of high end samples. Like a gift with purchase. Except its a purchase with purchase. No thanks. Got my $$$ eye cream, and that’s enough. I must have a complex with eyes. I don’t know how I got into eye creams, nor why I bought two on that very day. But hey, I’m good for about 14 months now seeing how each bottle of this Bobbi Brown lasts a good 6-7mths. Only need a dab.  Bobbi-Brown-eye-cream

Afterwards I was due to meet some friends for lunch at Hot House Cafe down on Church Street. I already scoped out the menu before hand so I knew I was going to order the Warm Chicken Salad without onions. salad hot house cafe

It was as good as it looks. I’m pretty sure it was 100% paleo too. Success. This was grabbed from their online menu: Warm Chicken Chicken breast, orange wheel, cucumber, cherry tomato, pickled red onion, onion sprouts, mixed greens and a pear and guava dressing.

We had a great time catching up over the last three years, and I’ve never met Amy before, so that was fun! Amy, Noreen, Kaylee and myself freaking out. The usual.nancy freaks

Wait. Here’s a better picture. ;) We all met up again because Kaylee is from New Brunswick and flew up here with Scott and their two adorable and hilarious girls. Noreen is the first person to ever show me how to work the Toronto subway system when I first moved to Ontario. I met her back in 2006 when I was heading in for an interview in Toronto and we got lost together in the city, ha!blurry girls

I spent a good 12 hours in the city and by the time I was on the Greyhound back home I was definitely pooped out. My legs and feet were tired from walking the streets of Toronto all day long. But I had such a fun time! Let’s do it again next weekend, ha ha!

Chloé My Little

Chloé has launched a collection named My Little Chloé this February, which includes their popular fragrances in little falcons of 20 ml. I’ve already spotted them at Sephora! They come in these elegant miniature bottles. They’re limited edition so if you want to snatch up this trio available in 20ml falcons, head on over to your mall. They come in three completely different scents to suit a variety of people.Chloe-My-Little

Chloe-My-Little-TrioI’ve been wearing the Love Chloé eau de parfum and since it’s a stronger version of the eau de toilette, it lasts throughout my entire work day, like a champ. Love is not an overpowering scent, and quite comfortable to wear. It’s not what I typically reach for when picking out scents to myself as I usually grab one’s with citrus. But this works for winter, it’s a musky, yet not too deep and ‘manly’. A very feminine yet sophisticated scent, if you will. It’s one of those perfumes that most certainly will not give you a headache.

leau-de-chloe L’eau de Chloé? Well, let’s just say it isn’t my cup of tea. In fact, I wore it to work last week and my co-workers complained that someone in the office smelled like a little old lady. It was me! I was the one who smelled like an old woman! I had sprayed L’eau de Chloé on me earlier and my co-workers made me vow to never wear it to work again. Needless to say, it does not exuberate youth that’s for sure. It has a powdery scent with a light touch of floral. It’s very delicate and feminine, however it does smell older. My initial thoughts were that it was pretty good smelling. Perhaps I have an older nose?

Notes: Grapefruit, Cedrat, Peach, Violet, Rose Petals, Natural Water of Rose, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Amber.
Style: Free. Spontaneous. Feminine.

Chloe-my-little-miniChloé along with Love, Chloé both have this inviting champagne warm color about them that I just want to scoop up. I ended up giving my boss the Chloé perfume shown above and it definitely suits her. You know how you can get a whiff of something and it reminds you of that person? Chloé was most definitely suited for my boss. I think this one was also my favorite out of the trio I received. Since this is an eau de parfum rather than a eau de toilette, it lasts a relatively long time, without needing to be refreshed on the skin.

Notes: Pink Peony, Freesia, Lychee, Magnolia Flower, Lilly of the Valley, Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, Honey.
Style: Chic. Comfortable. Addictive.

Finally Love, Chloé is the prettiest bottle of them all with the gold cap attached by a chain. When you first spray it, it has this charming feminine yet clean and fresh scent. It has powdery notes with floral as well, but they are not overpowering in any sort of way. It balances out beautifully.

Notes: Orange Blossom, Pink Pepper, Iris, Lilac, Hyacinth, Wisteria Blossom, Powdery Musks, Talc, Rice Powder.
Style: Light. Sensual. Iridescent.

Besides the 20ml falcons being adorable to look at, they are the perfect size to carry away with you on a weekend getaway or to tote around in your purse. I wish all perfumes were sold in miniatures, as I often don’t like to buy large bottles since I rarely go through them.

Would you buy these charming My Little Chloés’?

How often do you wear perfume?

I want you to want me, I need you to need me. Sing it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills has come out with a shimmering new holiday collection that are now available in stores.

Want a peek at what’s inside? These holiday pieces are a must have on anyone’s list. A great hit of neutrals in both eye shadow and lip gloss form.

Both the Want You to Want Me kit and Kisses on My List (Volume 2) lip gloss set are the new items for 2012 and are like tinsel for your eyes and lips! The “album” was the press kit! It opened up like an old school record album. It completely brought me back to my childhood (hey I’m not that old) playing music on my parents old school record player. They even had a paper cut out of the record. See the bottom right hand photo, in the pic above?

The Want You to Want Me is a kit within a velvet like clutch.  This set includes a 9 eye shadow palette which you can use to create a ton of 70’s inspired looks. I love the rose gold hardware on the opening. Inside the “clutch” is the compact palette which has the shadows, liquid eye liner, clear brow gel and even a mini brush to apply your makeup.

The Want You to Want Me makeup kit retails for $34 ($90 value) and is available at Sephora and Anastasia.net.

Up close photos of the eye shadows. Here are some of the new Face Charts for the Want You To Want Me palette that the Anastasia team just sent over. Some great themes (Cherry Bomb, Heart of Glass) which you can mimic from the diagrams below. Feel free to download them, they’re pretty huge!I created this look. Using any colors that I thought were appealing, which was most of them, ha ha!

The colors I used:

  1. All over the lid, up to the brow bone and in my inner corner as a highlight
  2. Over the majority of the lid to add a bit of shimmer
  3. I put this color in the crease
  4. I darkened up my crease with this color, focused mainly on the outer edge

I added this after the fact, on top of where #2 was, just to add some more color.…And here’s the outcome!

I ended up using the tiny brush which was supplied. The eye shadow end (not the pointy end) wasn’t the best, but the pointy end I used with the 3rd and 4th color. It’s pretty accurate getting it into the crease.

It’s SO easy to use a liquid eye liner! This was my first go at it, and the only reason I haven’t used much eye liner in the past is because it’s so difficult to get a nice accurate line. Ignore the fact that the eye liner on my right eye is a little screwy. Can’t always win ’em ;)

They also sent me a set of lip glossed called Kisses on My List gloss set.I put “Moi” on while testing out the shadows above.

The Kisses on My List gloss set retails for $30 ($108 value) and is available at Sephora and Anastasia.net.

Oh these glosses. They’re such a trickster. Look at the lightest pink color on the very bottom of my swatches. Looks innocent right? Here I am applying the thing, right before work. Thinking it was a nice baby pink with a touch of color.

BOOM. Far right hand pic? Bright fuchsia. HAHAHAHAHA. How did that happen? Just minutes later after applying it, I had a stained hot pink lip. Thankfully I didn’t mind it, but I really wasn’t expecting it to change color on my lips like that. So many people ended up giving me compliments on it while I was at work on Friday. Unbelievable. Some people didn’t even believe me when I showed them the gloss color and how it changed on me. Nuts.

8:30am and 3:00pm. It lasted until after I ate lunch. Plus, I’m a lip nibbler (lol that sounds weird) but I’m always either licking my lips or have my teeth sunk into them somehow. It’s a pretty powerful, long lasting lip color — that’s for sure and takes a lot of wear and tear.

It features six high-shine glosses in matte and shimmer shades that certainly wear all-day, I can attest to that.  There’s 3 that have a nice soft sheer, and three new Hypercolor Glosses that actually stain your lips. Each gloss is named after famous 70’s muses: Lola, Maggie May, Sharona, Roxanne, Jolene, and Moi. (Moi is the name, it’s not me from the 70s.. just so ya know. I was born in the 80’s thank you very much.)The fun part? Some rare footage of the behind the seasons at the “Want you to want me” set, where you can see everything live in action!

Who else now has the song “Want you to ant me” song stuck in their head?
