Thinking Out Loud Thursday #9

Similar to yesterday’s post because I find these are the easiest to write out (a whole lotta mumbo jumbo in my head that needs to be written out), before I get into all the things I need to write about, update you on, and so on.

Thinking Out Loud Thursdays are one of my favourite types of posts to do. I really need to do them much more often, because they’re not all that frequent around these parts, are they.

Does anyone hold onto gift cards as long as I do to make sure they make the best purchase they can with the card? For me, I have about 3 gift cards waiting to be used in my wallet right now. I could be silly and splurge on the things I’ve been eyeing, but when it comes to the gift cards I feel like I should get smarter pieces. For instance, I have a Crate & Barrel gift card that I’ve had since December. So much on my want-list, but I should really but what’s on my need-list, ya know? Oh practicality.

Ghirardelli Sq icecreamNot excited at all for my Ghirardelli Square ice cream.

My computer is too slow for my clickin’ and movin’ the mouse around. My husband and I bought parts for it not too long ago and built it from scratch. But the darn thing is some friggen slow. I don’t even want to tell you how long it takes me to write / edit pictures for a blog post these days. It’s painfully slow, so much so I leave the computer for hours and do the rest of my daily routine. Technically my computer is fast, but I’m not sure what the heck I do to it to make it slow down so much. Oh I want to swear on it.

Sephora Santana RowSephora is opening up at Santana Row! I’m excited. Though I’m not sure why it’s opening there since the mall across the street but I’m not complaining. I go to Santana Row way more often than I step into the maze of a mall.

Green shoesShould’a bought these shoes at the outlets. Regretting that decision.

Today I’m going to head out around the town and collect all of my birthday goodies that I didn’t get a chance to do a few weeks ago. Anyone else do that? You know, the Sephora yearly birthday gift, Ulta gave me a coupon for something too, and I want to head to World Market and use up my free $10 coupon on a really nice candle.

Speaking of birthday gifts. Starbucks didn’t send out a free drink coupon to me this year, or last. Yet I received my gold starbucks card in the mail here in california so I definitely have my address up to date on their files. Sigh. First world problems, am I right? It’s okay, McDonald’s iced coffees are way better. But man I wanted a super huge gigantor smoothie drink from them this year.

What’s App voice messages are my favourite way to communicate with my buddy Megan now that she moved all the way back to Toronto. 5 minute voice recordings? Typical. :)

That’s all I have today. What are some random things going through your mind today?!

Dior Addict It-Lash Review

Dior-It-Lash-collectionI am a blogger cliché, photographing beauty products on a fur rug. Hand me some peonies, and macaroons and we’ll be set for a typical filtered instagram shot. I still think it’s beautiful, even if it’s on my $9.99 faux fur rug from Ikea.

Dior has launched the Dior Addict It-Lash collection that plays up the magic in your eyes with some bold bright colours that can easily be tamed down for an every day look. Dior-It-Line-PurpleCheck it out, I’m wearing the Dior It-Line in purple to show you how it’s done. Subtle but POW-POW it’s there. Am I right?

Pink too! Dior-It-Line-Pink

Dior-It-LineWhen I opened the packaging, I could definitely see myself stepping out of my comfort zone in playing with these fun colours. I wanted to make them work.

The It-Liners are a gel formula, which means that the colours are daring, bright, and as bold as you’d expect them to be, when swiped onto the skin. I swatched them on my hands before going for a sweaty 5km run on the treadmill, and they stayed put — of course, until after I smooshed them with my hand to see if they’d budge. Ha.

Dior-ItLash-ItLineDior Addict It-Lash has been marketed as Dior’s “do-it-all” mascara. But I have to disagree on their part. It supposedly gives both volume and length. I never seem to have a problem with mascaras since I’ve told you many times I am blessed with naturally long lashes. And, while I agree it gives a tremendous amount of length, it only gave a hint of volume. The formulation of the mascara was a little too liquidy for my liking, and is most likely prone to spider-lashes (clumping) if you’re not careful with the application. I much prefer Dior’s DiorShow mascara which has a big fat wand.

I have heard on other reviews that the It-Lash is comparable to the Benefit They’re Real mascara, as they have similar wands. I wouldn’t be able to compare those two for you, since I haven’t used the Benefit mascara.

I received the blue, pink, and black It-Lash mascara. Here’s a super close up of the blue mascara applied just at the tips of my lashes. The rest of my lashes was using one coat of Dior It-Lash in black.Dior-It-Lash-Blue-mascara

I also received some pretty fantastic monoshadows from Dior. Look at those colours. As a conservative make-up wearer, I’d either apply this with a small eye liner brush just above the lashes as a powder eye liner, or a smidge of colour in the crease to give a bit of a wow-effect. The Dior Addict It-Line ($32CDN / $31USD) and Dior Addict It-Lash mascara ($32CDN / $26USD) are all available in four colours: black, blue, purple, and pink. Then the Dior Mono eyeshadow ($32CDN / $29USD), is available in yellow, pink, purple and khol (black). This collection is now available at Dior counters nationwide and thebay.com

Dior-It-Lash-collectionDoes anything pique your interest? Thinking of picking up any of the items I showed today?

Disclaimer: The Dior Addict line was sent to me by the PR team. I never do paid posts/ads in exchange for product review. That is not honest. Opinions are my own, I’d like to keep it that way, since I like tellin’ ya how it is. I know not everyone can afford luxury beauty products, such as Dior. Perhaps you can splurge on one or two products from their collection if you enjoy the photos and swatches of what I have to say. I am lucky enough to work with Dior’s PR. As you know, I only work with companies who I 100% believe in. My opinion is never biased towards a brand, and always my own.

Thoughts we’ve all had while browsing through Sephora

This site cracked me up, 100 thoughts we’ve all had while shopping at Sephora.  I found it on BuzzFeed last night and thought most of it was pretty true.

68 thoughts we’ve all hand when applying make up is also pretty funny but similar.

Can anyone else attest to that? So funny!

Not so ironically, I was at Sephora today. If I don’t hurry in and hurry out with my intention to only buy the things I had on my list, I definitely get sucked into the Sephora vortex. So many fun things, I find it dangerous to just browse. But they were having the VIB 15% off everything today! I needed go to in, to get the free make up bag with purchase, no? Anyone go in just for free shi- too? I really didn’t even need anything to be honest. But whoaaaa if you’re having a rare sale, I’m in.

Sephora VIB April 2014So I bought this. So I could have the limited edition make up bag. (Bobbi Brown hand cream was purchased at Macy’s and not Sephora though.)
