A gift set, from me to you!

If I really enjoy something, I rave about it. So much so that I influence other people to buy their products.

For instance, it’s no secret that I enjoy Fossil leathers & watches, Make Up For Ever mascaras and even the philosophy skin care line. My co-worker showed me her new purse and iPad cover that she bought from Fossil yesterday. YESTERDAY. I took photos of it, so it’ll be up on my site soon. When I went out to dinner with my blog/twitter girls, one of them mentioned she bought a Fossil watch due to the fact that I raved about them so much.

Well, I’m sure you already know that I have been loving the Philosophy Purity product —it’s the only facial cleanser that I will allow on my face. I bought a 700ml bottle of it and I just used up the last drop of it last weekend. Thankfully, I have backups in sample forms and I am currently using that.

travel-makeup-bagSilly me – I don’t know why it’s not even in my make up bag. It shoud’ve been in this photo.

Plus? Philosophy will be at BlissDom Canada this year and I get to say hi to the folks I’ve been talking with via e-mail for the past… oh, forever. They get to meet the Philosophy addict (ahem, me) right in the flesh. Lucky them!

Enough talk about how much I love them. Hopefully you will start to enjoy them as much as I do because they have a great deal going on right now at Hudson’s Bay.

Top face cream winner

Philosophy has been my favorite skin care line for the past two years. Ever since I went down to California and tried it at BlogHer’11, I’ve been hooked. You guys already know how much I rave about their purity cleanser (here and here). Well. I’ve got another favorite, product. Dear I say holy grail? Is that over used too much? Apologies if you’re sick of hearing that term phrase. But it’s my new favorite product.

Philosophy-Hope-In-a-JarI did not know that they made more than one hope in a jar formulation, however. That part was a bit disappointing since I bought the dry skin formula thinking it would be exactly the same as the normal skin type cream. I was wrong.

You can tell from the photo below that the creams are two very different in consistency. Also, on your face.

Hope-In-a-Jar-openThe one on the left is the dry skin, the one on the right is the one I’d like to rave about.

It’s a lightweight whipped consistency that is a dream to apply. You only need a smidge of it and your makeup just glides on top.

I’m not the biggest fan of the dry skin forumula, because it’s too hydrating for my skin. My makeup slips off and it’s just a mess. I cannot return it to Sephora since it came in a trio set. Thankfully it’s only the smaller jar and I’ve revoked its duties for my day time skin, and now I ocassionaly use it on my skin before bed.

Back to my fav product – Hope In a Jar for normal skin.

PROS:

  •  Soo hydrating on winter skin
  • Does not leave oily residue ontop of skin, sinks in beautifully
  • A little dab’l do ya
  • Smells nice

CONS:

  • Read the label before you buy it! (lol) – Make sure you’re getting normal forumla, not dry skin.
  • It’s pricy

I’m not sure how this moisturizer will be on my skin during the summer time. Since it’s a light weight formulation, I’m excited to try it in hopes that it won’t be too heavy. So, we’ll see! I’ll report back :)

OVERALL:
This is my favorite facial moisturizer for winter. It keeps my skin hydrated and plump. My makeup as I said above, just glides on like a dream. Using this in conjunction with my Clarisonic Mia2, I don’t have any dry patchy skin. Then again, winter is pretty much over. So maybe it’s the weather, ha ha.

Try a sample out next time you pop into Sephora, and let me know what you guys think of it!

Simplified beauty routine for Winter

simplified-beauty-routine
I’ve simplified my beauty routine in the mornings this winter. Only because I don’t want to have dry patches on my already dry skin! So this is what I do for my dry skin in winter, as I’m feeling more parched than usual.

What I’m using:

  • Philosophy Hope In A Jar — This is a great whipped moisturizer that I received a generous sample of to try out, and blog about. I fell in love with it and bought a full sized version at Sephora last week.
  • Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Foundation — This foundation gives a light to medium coverage, which is buildable. I’m not sure if my skin is acting up or if I’m not exfoliating and moisturizing enough, but this has been wearing off my skin before the days end. It didn’t used to.
  • Sonia Kashuk concealer — My holy grail concealer and I cannot wait until Target Canada opens up so I can finally get another quad. I’ve used up the entire dark concealer and the light one I’m scraping the edges of. It’s great, since it does not crease under your eyes. It’s the only place I apply this concealer (or any other, for that matter)
  • Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash — Great mascara, I will always have an emergency back up of this and will never be without it! It’s a drier consistency which I like and it adds incredible volume and length that people think I’m wearing false eyelashes. Look!
  • Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream — A definite indulgence for an eye cream. But that small jar shown in the photo below will last me 7 months. I’ve blogged about it before, and I’m blogging about how great it is again. It’s the first thing I put on my face (er, eyes) in the morning after washing it. Concealer blends so effortlessly on top of it. It’s such a rich, hydrating cream that I somehow cannot go without. Doesn’t burn the eyes, either.
  • Philosophy Purity Cleanser — I purchased the biggest bottle I could, last winter and I’m about half way through. It’s a gentle cleanser that removes waterproof mascara yet it never leaves my skin feeling tight or dry. I hear this is great to use on a clarisonic if you own one.
