year 1, week 24, day one

I went to Yoga again, but this time I went solo. I don’t remember much of the class, but I do remember not liking the instructor as much as another woman who does the class later on in the week. It’s funny how it works out that way…

year 1, week 24, day two

4.25km run by my self — I had planned on going for 6km but I ended up turning around early. I thought I had only ran 3k, but when I mapped it out it was 4.25k! The sweat was pourin’ off me, it was super hot that weekend.

Sorry. That photo is probably nasty. Either way, I wanted to break up the texty blog post with some photos of my SWEAT. lol

year 1, week 24, day three

Get out of town.

6:30pm CrossFit class followed by an 8:00pm 6km run with my co-worker. Moses. I was feeling it on the run, that’s for sure. I even let out huge sighs and “are we there yet?”‘s hahaha!

EMOM 15
1 Snatch

EMOM 5
1 Snatch Press
1 Overhead Squat

That was the prescribed workout above , a 20 minute time limit. You do 1, every minute on the minute. Instead I did 20 snatch press to overhead squats, and I did 60lbs for the full duration!

Yoga!!!

I think this is the one where I mentioned that I nearly got kicked out of yoga (for laughing). Not to worry, a blog post will be coming up soon about that.

I found this particular class very useless. I felt like I didn’t workout, just got a few minor stretches in. lol Again, total blog post all about this class coming up.

Okay this doesn’t really count as working out but I wanted to include it in my roundup.

Steph and I went to the local climbing gym because I knew there was going to be a bouldering competition happening that evening. “Summer Sweat Fest” sponsored by MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-Op). It was so great seeing my “old buddies” again. I haven’t really climbed hard since February, and then just going in there for an evening and watching everyone work the boulder problems, definitely made me want to get back into it again!

Popcorn < Movies

Anyone who knows me, knows that I will never say no to going to a movie. I don’t care what type of movie I see in the theaters, all I need is a bag of popcorn and I’m content.

Sometimes, when Scott’s away at work – I don’t even make myself dinner. I actually have popcorn. That’s terrible to admit, but I really really enjoy it. A lot. Clearly.

In the span of 5 days on the airplane and while I was back home, I watched three movies. On the airplanes I watched: The Vow (nearly cried), The Help (also nearly cried) and I went to the theaters with my best friend from back home, Trevor. We saw The Avenger’s.

I’m not sure that I’ve spoken of Trevor much on my website. I don’t think I talked about him here much mainly because I thought he didn’t read my blog! Well folks. Here is me and my best bud.

This photo is a few years old, but still a goodie. We’re at the local climbing gym back home.

Same night, both of us dancing. We had a “private party” at the climbing gym one year for his birthday and another guys university graduation. :)

Back to my post about movies though.

Apparently it did really well in the theaters, and everyone on twitter had been raving about it. So of course, I didn’t mind going. However it wasn’t what I expected it to be at all. I was excited that Ironman was in it, he’s a funny character. I don’t want to go into much detail about the movie, since my boyf Scott had no idea what the movie entailed and I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone.

I do want to let you know that you should probably watch the previous movies before hand like: Ironman, Ironman 2 (there’s a two, right?), Thor, Captain America annnnd…. what other one was there, if any?

I was semi-lost, thanks to Trev for talking to me throughout the movie explaining things for me, ha!

Have you guys seen this movie yet? If not, will you?

It’s time to climb!

Last week Stephanie, and I met up at the local climbing gym to have a fun night out!

Stephanie is always so fun to be around and constantly cracks me up. She’s so easy to talk to, too, and I learn so much when I’m around her. Mainly because I eat candy and she eats Gluten Free. But whatever it is we talk about, I’m always eager to listen and learn from her. I can’t wait til we hang out again buddy! :)

We got some random guy take our photo right before we did our first climb together. Lovely stylish harnesses on.

I’ve been climbing since the local gym back home in Newfoundland opened its doors back in 1994. I think it’s time I invest in my third harness though. But I really dislike the automatic double backing of the new harnesses. I’m old school. Or old.I’m also ready to fight anyone who comes across my path. Or route. Don’t be takin my route! Kidding. I was stretching. Or something.

By the time we were both warmed up, I decided to put my trust in Stephanie who has only belayed twice ever. She did a wonderful job and I felt totally confident in her belaying abilities! That’s saying a lot. I’m hard to trust people with my LIFE.

Stephanie also did a great job climbing some routes. She didn’t rent any climbing shoes and sported her Toms up the walls.

I don’t have many photos of her going up the routes. Stephanie provided me with all these photos that were taken with her iPhone.

Go Steph! Superstar!

Debating whether or not I actually wanted to attempt the 5.10. DON’T MAKE ME STEPHANIE!

Ok fine.Omg I’m on a sloper you guys. Unheard of.

Highstepping up to some crimpers. My fav.

Resting my forearms by hanging with my elbows straight out and switching my feet below. If you keep your body into the wall you’ll waste energy. Thus… the straight arms shown here. I’m not hang-dogging! lol

I chalk up a lot. Sweaty finger tips.

Here’s the rest of the sequence of me climbing to the top. That last move in the far right photo, my forearms were so pumped I just gave up. Burnt right out.

The routes at the local gym are kinda wonky. I feel like they’re graded easier. Either that or the gym I’m used to back home grades really hard. I haven’t climbed in 3 months and I can pop on and get 3/4 the way up a 5.10. When I was climbing regularly back in the Fall I was practically on sighting (I know, sorry that’s climber’s talk) 5.11’s sometimes! That’s not possible after taking a 6 year break from climbing you guys. Whatever. I kinda like it.

I had the best time climbing with you Steph! Let’s go again soon :)

My Birthday giveaway ends in 2 days!
