Five Things Friday . 003

01. BAY AREA BLOGGERS|
I thought I’d start out this five-things-friday by sharing five local bay area bloggers/instagrammers I enjoy! Perhaps some of them are new-to-you, and you can check them out too!

Alyson from The Beauty Vanity · a friend of mine with a beautiful beauty site, and an even prettier instagram feed.
Grace from My Style and Grace · I met Grace at a blogger brunch a few months ago, she’s sweet is so stylish. Check out her outfits on instagram.
Joanne from GoFitJo · a fitness inspiration and a kind soul. Her instagram feed is pure goals.
Melissa from Savvy in San Francisco · she’s a darling, and always on top of the latest beauty launches. Her instagram beauty flatlays are magazine worthy.
Ariana Lauren from Fashion Born · From her interior style right down tot he clothes she wears, I love it all! I found her on instagram.

02. OCTOLY|
Octoly.com is a site where you can receive free beauty products in exchange for a post on Instagram or a YouTube video. Obviously there’s a catch and it’s only open to USA (sorry Canadian pals), and you have to have 5K on YT, and 10K followers on IG. But it’s SO awesome because my parcel that came yesterday, was a few Dior items! Sign up if you can.

03. EBATES|
Ebates is old news to many, but I recently signed up in April, and I’ve already made $9.00 in savings from shopping online and using the discount. You don’t even have to think about it because when you visit a website (and you have the ebates in your web-browser-bar thing) it automatically pops up like an ad (lol… great) and you can “activate your %% back now” and most times it’s between 1-4% but if it’s your birthday week, you get a whoppin’ 15% back on your purchases on a lot of stores! You can use my referral link to sign up if you wish. Not sure what I get out of it to be honest though…

04. TARGET TEES|
Weird angle/photo of me. Ignore the face, look at the tee. lol. Blush pink is a fantastic colour and I’ve been on the hunt for so many tops in that perfect-shade since I realized how …. flattering it looked on me. Target has a 3/4 length top that kind of resembles a baseball tee (sleeves are reversed in stripes). I picked it up yesterday for $12, buy it here. Sweet.

05. BIRTHDAY CONVERTIBLE|
My birthday was last Sunday, and all I wanted to do was just go for a simple adventure in the car I labeled as the “birthday convertible” aka, convertible life, the Mazda MX5 we had for the week. My husband and I drove down the PCH (pacific coast highway) and hung out at coffee shops, browsed a store in Santa Cruz, and literally spent the day crusin’ along. It was so fun and relaxing and honestly one of the best birthdays I’ve had. By the way, spot my phone case? I ended up switching over to an otterbox because I dropped my phone on the ground (with the google-pixel case on it!) and it still chipped on the two bottom corners. Ticked off I was. Anyway, this slim otterbox case is definitely bulkier than most, but if it keeps this Pixel safe’n sound and free of any more chips I’m a happy phone-owner lol.

Upgrade your stationery supplies

I’m old school. I have never taken advantage of the ‘notes’ section on my cell phone. I prefer the instant gratification of crossing something out on my to-do list with a fine, crisp ink. And on Monday’s I get my notebook of choice out (used to be MUJI til I got majorly upgrade thanks to Cloth & Paper), and get down to business writing down my to-do’s for the day. I do this every morning!

But Monday’s especially is a huge productivity day at home. From laundry to cleaning and vacuuming. In the afternoons I get to work and organize blog work. I also tend to go to my fave coffee shop to give me that jump start to the week. Anyone else old school like me and don’t use their phone for tasks?

If there’s anything I hoard in life, it’s most definitely stationery goodies. I have piles of unused notebooks, and tons of pens – mainly in super fine point. I’m talkin’ 0.25 or 0.38mm thickness, ah the scratchier the better! My husband hates my pens, so we have a stash of thick gel-like pens above the fridge that are for his use only. I’ve been known to make plenty of pen purchases from JetPen’s online store. They have fantastic choices, and I often spend hours browsing for my next best stationery purchase. Ha!

But the star of the show today is Cloth & Paper. I gotta tell you, everything is perfectly monochrome with that minimal style everyone is grasping at these days. And I don’t mind one bit, it’s gorgeous. Basically I’m telling you, you need to upgrade your stationery supplies with goodies from Cloth & Paper. Omg ♥

[items shown: Gold foiled black dividers (girl gang set), folded planner insert cards, grey marble sticky notes]

I’ve been eyeing up Cloth & Paper’s Instagram feed for months on end (I’m featured on their page, too btw!!!). Their online store is soo aesthetically pleasing and their flatlay game is strong. I reached out to them in hopes of a collaboration, and they happily sent me their January Stationery Box, where they teamed up with Office Depot. Plus…. 15% off for you guys, too. Um wicked. Use code SPIFFY15 upon checkout. Code cannot be used with their subscription boxes.

Black leather notebook goals. The funky pencils were purchased by me (from that jetpens site I love). For the January Stationery Box, all the papers I received have been punched to fit the Tul System for the Office Depot collaboration.

Thanks for Cloth & Paper for the January Stationery (subscription) box!

Life Lately: October

birthday-giftsMy husbands birthday was this month and although I didn’t talk about it too much because I don’t want to blog about every single detail of my life, it was still a fun memorable birthday for him, I think :)

bike-birthdaySpecialized sent over a new Men’s Airnet helmet for him in a slick black shade. My husband cycles to work 99% of the time and his old commuting helmet was starting to get old. Don’t forget to replace those helmets, friends! Also, accessorize with lights — they absolutely no doubt help with vehicles seeing you on the road. Especially now that the sun is setting much earlier.

His birthday was entirely bike related (along with some relaxation). The helmet was one of the main gifts, then I popped in a cycling pizza cutter (how cute is that?!) and some bike book-ends for our shelves. Another huge surprise to him was that Burke Williams Ayurvedic Treatment we both went to.  Ugh, swoon worthy! Why don’t we go to spas more often?

dairy-queenAND! You can’t have a birthday, without a delicious DQ icecream cake, am I right? I had the dude write on Scott’s name…. this is how it turned out. It’s like a child wrote it, it’s so funny!

White Sierra 1979So many coffee dates with blog friends happened this month! Elisabeth and I met up and took tons of OOTD pictures together. It was my first time hanging out with her one-on-one besides the regular bay area bloggers meet up’s we sometimes have. So it was fun getting to know her a little better. I can’t wait to hang again! She took the picture of me shown above :) By the way if you want a discount from White Sierra (the jacket I’m wearing is from White Sierra) you can use the discount code: SPIFFY33 for 33% off your purchase now through the end of January 2017. That’s pretty nice of them, hey?

Jeremys-visitJeremy, a pal of me and my husbands, flew down from Newfoundland to California for work for a few days. Since he was staying in San Francisco for the most part, we went up one weekend and had a grand ol’ time literally doing nothing… with no plans. It was the best, and I love those sort of days. All we did was walk around, went to a coffee shop, popped by Baker Beach to see the Golden Gate Bridge, and then went for burgers. Fun fact: Jeremy introduced me to my husband back in 2005. So I knew Jeremy before I knew my husband. Fun hey?

Jodi-NancySpeaking of Canadian pals. Jodi, Canadian Beauty Blogger flew down to California from Canada for work and I decided to drive up to San Francisco to meet her for a few hours. It’s fun meeting blog-friends, especially blog friend you’d never think you’d meet! She was fun to hang with and I showed her all of my favourite places along with the typical touristy spots.

Google PixelAlthough I post on there frequently, YouTube tends to be on the back-burner to my blog and Instagram. That, and I don’t usually post anything other than makeup tutorials and the occasional vlog up there. But when I received my new Google Pixel phone, I decided to do an unboxing video. It went viral. The first Google Pixel unboxing video of it in the world and even made news in Australia. I didn’t appreciate the vicious comments that came along with it, but  I ‘spose you could say I was smart and didn’t respond to any of the comments. I then followed up with a Google Pixel review/demo of it a few days later that was much tamer. (It was #MadeByGoogle and a #GiftFromGoogle!) Read more about the Google Pixel here (it’s not an affiliate link, just a tracking one).

This post is all over the place. But I’ve seen now on Instagram that bullet-journaling is now a thing. I’ve started it subconsciously I guess, when I realized regular agendas don’t work out for me all that well since some days I want to be totally messy with my daily agenda and not keep it super pretty. That’s why I haven’t really ventured out and tried to purchase one of those Erin Condron planners. Too much upkeep and decorating for me. I’ve been using a plain blank-sheet Muji notebook since August, and it’s been working out well! I must write down a daily to-do list otherwise my entire day is shot if I have no idea what to do. Does that mean I’m getting old and forgetful? What odds. It keeps me organized.

Mizuno SayonaraI really need a running buddy. I must admit, I’m lacking a bit of motivation lately. Although my husband, Alfie and I try to go on weekend-runs together, it’s tough! Sometimes we skip. Anyone local want to be my running pal? I love my new Mizuno’s. Oh. Do you guys want to see a review on the two pairs that I run in? The pink Wave Rider 19’s and the blue Sayonara’s?

POM Friday’s will be back soon. I’ve just run out of ideas on where to take him lately. lol.

IMG_20161027_150231Today is a pretty dreary day here in California. Rare that we see clouds in the sky or some wet pavement. But it’s also so welcomed. Today I’ll be sipping on some tea and reading Lisa Sugar’s new book – with nothing much else on the agenda. Looks like an awesome day to me! The minimalistic looking mug is the one I just got on my October PopSugar Must Have that they sent over to me to try. Sweet. You can get one here. Use code SHOP5 (which never expires) to get $5 off your first #MustHaveBox!

That’s all for now I suppose! That was a lot more than I had intended to write. How are you guys doing? What’s new?
