Just Fabulous Purse Review

I paid for this subscription myself.

I’m all about subscription services and trying out new things. I love shoes, and I love handbags. I’ve heard so much about the Just Fabulous or JustFab.com website that I decided to try it out for myself. I know that not everyone has had a pleasant experience with Just Fab.com as you can see Linda from Rose A La Mode review about the shoes, and re-occurring monthly charge here.

JustFab is a monthly subscription service that caters to the recent trends in fashion, so they sell everything from crazy high stilettos, to flats, purses, and also clothing and accessories.

First you take a style quiz in order for them to figure our what kind of fashion style you’re into. It’s pretty detailed, asking you what heel style you’re looking for, you can select as many as you’d like. It also asks you what color shoe you’d prefer. You’re not limited to what you pick in the quiz, so you can browse around their online store once finished.

There are two options for JustFab. A Pay-As-You-Go membership which is no monthly fee but pricier items, or you can become a VIP for a re-occurring $39.95/month. You must visit the JustFab boutique by the 5th of every month and if you do not like anything in your “show room” you can skip that month, and as many months as you wish and you will not be charged the monthly fee. If you do not visit in the first 5 days in the month and say “skip a month” you will be charged $39.95 on your credit card.

I grabbed this info from their site:

  1. VIP Program
    • Every JustFab style is only $39.95 (save up to 50%!)
    • No obligation to buy. Skip any month and cancel any time.
    • Free shipping & easy exchanges (Lies. Canadians pay $9.00 shipping)
    • Access to special collections, private sales and exclusive promotions
    • Earn points toward free shoes!
  2. Pay-As-You-Go
    • Access to the season’s hottest styles for $49-$79
    • Free shipping & easy exchanges
    • No need to skip the month

Unfortunately for us Canadians, we pay $9.00 shipping. Not bad seeing how we’re getting a 50% discount at the beginning for signing up. The only reason I signed up is because of the promotion code. New members get 50% off their first purchase of anything in the store. Heyyuhh! I’m all about that.

Below is my first purchase! The Daredevil bag in person vs Daredevil bag online. It also comes in leopard print and hot pink. Online it’s shows you can wear the “flap” upwards, but I like it hanging down over top. I’m half surprised at myself for buying the Daredevil bag. The chainmail links are kinda hard-ass looking, but at the same time it suits the bag. I placed my order on Sunday July 15, and it arrived to me on Monday July 23. Pretty reasonable shipping seeing how it’s coming from Kentucky.

I’ve never intentionally purchased purse-knock offs, but they do have a few Céline-like bags for sale, and they are kinda cute.

JustFab Portofino Bag vs Céline

I also like the Sorbet bag. But I have a ton of purses already (see my purse collection blog post), and don’t need any more!

I do have a referral link, as does everyone when they sign up with JustFab.com. You accumulate points for free product. For the purchase of my Daredevil purse, I earned 20 points. I need to reach 350 points = 1 free member credit. Or refer two friends = 1 free member credit.

Something I was concerned about: canceling my VIP membership. It’s under their FAQ section of the JustFab website. It doesn’t seem that hard to cancel, but you do have to do it over the telephone and Linda from Rose a la Mode had a difficult time phoning them and actually getting an answer. So, we’ll see… maybe I’ll revisit this in a few months if I decide to cancel, and let you all know how it goes.

My first thoughts on Vega’s Protein Powders

Two posts. One day. On another roll. Let me tell you!

I skipped CrossFit again tonight, to attend Muscle Pump with my co-worker L McMomsie (She’s the one in the middle). She’s basically my new workout buddy and I love that she’s showing me the ropes. We’ve been going on runs together on trails I’ve never heard of, and now Yoga and Muscle Pump!

I literally just got back from doing it from the local YMCA. I spotted some baby triceps while I was in the elevator. I’m not vain at all ;)

I rarely ever publish blog posts in the evening. But this blog post had to be up before the end of July, because the product I’m talking about below is on a campaign deadline for the end of this month. I was sent some samples from Vega and received their Vega Energizing Smoothies.

You may have seen a few weeks ago that I ended up purchasing some Savi Seeds from Vega not too long ago from a local health food store, on my adventure with my friend Steph! So I’m a wee bit familiar with their products.

Brendan Brazier is a Canadian Ironman Triathlete (much like my Boyfriend — going for his 4th Ironman this August), he happens to be a Vegan professional athlete, meaning his diet is 100% plant based! Brendan is also the author of The Thrive Diet book which came out in 2007. When Brendan was training for his races he found it difficult to fuel, as a lot of the protein powders were made of Whey, which was a no-no for a vegan. He of course found some soy based protein powders but he was trying to cut back on that ingredient. (Read more about the Vega story here).

So, I busted out the first Vega smoothie I’ve ever had, after my workout tonight. I don’t know how much to measure out for a protein shake for myself, so I’m glad that they come in these one drink packets.

Save the best for last? No way folks. Have the best, first. Who doesn’t love a chocolate drink? I’ve been itching to try out Choc-a-lot ever since I received it.

The Vega smoothies comes in a variety of 5 different flavors: Choc-a-lot, Tropical Tango, Vanilla Almondilla, Oh Natural and Bodacious Berry. They are alkaline-forming, free from dairy, gluten and soy, and contains no added sugar, artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners. The smoothies contain:

  • 10g of Protein
  • 5g fiber
  • 1g omega 3
  • 2 servings of veggies per serving.

Two servings of veggies and all I have to do is add water and drink it? Sounds easy enough!

I actually didn’t mind the taste of it. It was strange – not the usual protein drink taste. Hard to believe since it’s plant based but the darn tootin’ smoothie really did taste plant-y! It was interesting. The consistency was too liquid-like for me. I ended up throwing about half of my drink out. I think next time I’ll make it with milk, or milk and ice cubes to thicken it up a bit.

Unfortunately since I do not wish to drink two protein powders in a row, I cannot review all of the flavors and the different ways to drink the Vega smoothies. I’ve heard that if you add water to the smoothies/protein powders that it will taste chalk, but I wanted to test it out to give it the full effect. Since it would defeat the purpose of being a completely vegan (even though I am not one) product.

So stay tuned for the following taste tests and final thoughts of these Vega products! I plan on putting some of the next one’s to the test and mixing them with milk for a different taste than adding water to the smoothie, and I have a great plan on adding another one to a bowl of greek yogurt!

Off I go to eat my dinner. Looks good right? Actually come to think of it, it wasn’t that colorful. Tasted some good though. First time making sweet potato fries. Thanks to my besties Boyfriend on making it while I was in Ottawa over the weekend, I’m now a huge fan! (Mine aren’t as crispy though!? Anyone know why? lol)

I cannot believe that one (small) sweet potato creates this many fries!

Are you a smoothie/protein powder drinker after a workout?

If so, what flavors of protein powders do you normally buy?

How do you cook your sweet potatoes?  I pan fried mine with a bit of oil…I can’t get over how much they taste like freaking potato french fries! YUM!

Yoga fan, right here!

I’m forever changing up my routine with working out.

Sometimes I need a break from CrossFit. Last week I didn’t go at all. Now this week I’m going to the local YMCA with my co-worker. I’m not planning on having two “gym” memberships because CrossFit is running at about $100/month so adding onto that seems a bit excessive right now. I grabbed a free two week pass on the Y’s website and off I went to Yoga last night for the first time in a few years, I’ve done it a handful of times in the past but didn’t really enjoy it.

I’m planning to go back a lot during these next two weeks. But I’m not interested in paying $60/month to attend the YMCA. I think the reason I enjoyed it so much yesterday, was because the instructor kept telling us basic, intermediate and advanced moves. Then walking around the class to fix the moves. I also enjoyed it because I felt stronger and could do more intermediate things. For instance, from the downward dog into the plank position and down into a pushup with your elbows tucked into the ribs. But not have your body touching. I felt strong!

I really wanted to do this tree (?) pose. I remember doing that in a few other classes before.

We also did a few different Warrior poses. I felt it was a bit difficult to keep my hips open. It definitely worked my butt, and hamstrings to keep my leg straight. You betcha my legs were quivering by the end of the pose.

I’m not sore anywhere yet. I usually get DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness), so I’m wondering if/how sore I’ll be tomorrow. My triceps feel like I’ve done something different. That’s a good sign…

I’m now looking into Yoga classes around my area that aren’t $10/class. I think I’m hooked, and maybe I can incorporate it into a morning routine. Because going to CrossFit in the morning is so out of the question. Going that hard, that early when I’m already not a morning person? Nuh uh.

Do you go to Yoga? How often?
