Sponsored | A Candy Ambassador

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Millennial Central for MY M&M’S. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to thank me for my participation.

MY M&M'S

Who knew that even existed? I’m participating in the MY M&M’S Ambassador Program. A Candy Ambassador, if you will! How great is that? Hashtag my ideal job.

This is the perfect place to start for organizing our wedding reception towards the end of the summer. Mind you, it’s going to happen in a different country and I’ll have to cart the personalized 5lb bag of M&M’S over the border with me, but I have absolutely no problem doing so.

I received a discount code to use to personalize these chocolate covered candies , which I thought was fitting as  anyone who knows me, knows I love candy, and this would be an ideal gift for the party favors. I ended up picking two items out of their clip art section (a “thank you” image, and a set of wedding rings). The other two areas of personalization I had written “The Guy & Nancy”, and the date we got married, December 30, 2013.

MY M&M’S offers a unique opportunity to add a level of personalization and customization to chocolate and gifts. MY M&M’S is an exclusive online custom printing solution for personalizing an event or occasion. The collection consistes of 25 vibrant colours, 20 of whihc are available for adding custom prnted messages and images. MY M&M’S brings a whole new level of personalization to M&M’S Chocolate Candies to help make magical moments even more special.

What’s also great is that there’s tons of options of how you can get them printed and packaged. You can get so creative on the website to have messages and images printed on the candy. I thought about putting our faces on the M&M’S but thought it was a little too goofy for what we wanted. If you’re in a rush, there’s an option to have pre-packaged tins, or clear plastic one-serving sized bags. I thought about ordering them into tins but didn’t want silver packaging.

I’ll be posting one more time about the M&M’S as they just arrived to my house today. Here’s a sneak peek but I won’t show you it fully until later. MY MMs candy

I’m excited to share the wedding reception planning journey with you guys on my blog. As you know, this is still in the planning and beginning stages as we haven’t buckled down and thought it all through yet. I’ll be sure to share every step of the way on my blog. Including what I think we’re going to do with the candies, since they’re chillin’ out in a huge bag right now.

Thursday’s Thoughts

I am super excited today because in a few hours I’m going to go climbing at Planet Granite with Ellen, who reads my blog and contacted me last month to go for a climb with her. She went on vacation for a few weeks, so we’re going again today. I have to be honest, I thought I was going to head in on my own to do some bouldering while she was away, but I can’t help but feel alone and intimidated going by myself. I miss the family oriented feeling of climbing gyms when you’re a regular. Which, I clearly am not — yet. I’m not outgoing, especially in new-to-me places, but hopefully I’ll get over that hump after I put in a few more climbs.climb This is a photo from my last trip with Ellen. Perhaps today I’ll actually take photos inside as opposed to shy selfies in the car ;)

My Mom skyped me yesterday and we got to talking about eBay and how it was hacked, here’s the story. I changed my password immediately. Do it.

Ring CozyMy wedding and engagement rings are still too big, even after getting them sized in January. My engagement ring especially, flops around constantly and drives me nuts. In June, I’m bringing in into Zales, the jewellery store equivalent to People’s in Canada to get it inspected (have to bring it in ever 6mths to keep the… warranty?), and then I’ll have it re-sized another 0.25 down. After that I’m thinking of buying this Ring Cozy for ten bucks, when I go to CrossFit or climbing, since it protects it from scratches and whatnot. I’m not sure yet though.

Oooh, I bought new bedding from West Elm a few days ago! I’ll be blogging about it more in depth later. Like the faux fur background? I feel like every other blogger now, but I couldn’t pass it up. It was ten bucks at Ikea man!

peonies on my deskMy peonies are still going strong and still smelling great. What a great $6.99 spent by The Guy at Trader Joe’s, I tell ya, it brings a smile to my face every time I see them. If that’s not cheesy, I don’t know what is. But in all honesty I think fresh flowers are a great thing to have around. And to you, Brandy (hehe) my fake flowers look real. You just have to find the right ones. My fake orchid from Urban Barn fool me every time!

Tiffany and CoRandom story for you since this is all Thursday’s Thoughts: On Monday I walked into the Tiffany & Co. jewellery store for the first time in my life. I never felt the need to go in and take a peek. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, but I think ladies are drawn to the name, and the packaging? I don’t really know. But I walked around for a bit and was looking for a dainty necklace for myself, and I promise you, the one piece I looked at where the diamond was about the size of the tip of a ballpoint pen (yes a total exaggeration), was $750. I almost wanted to make a loud gulping noise, but it would’ve been inappropriate. One of the women helping me was so kind, and did give me her card, which I doubt I could afford to buy something from her, in a long time.

Well, that’s all my news for today.

What’ve you got planned for your day/evening?

What’s your favourite piece of jewellery?

Have you ever been climbing?

What’s your favourite sport to watch/do?

A few new beauty favourites

I feel as if I haven’t done a beauty favourites blog post in a long time. It’s time.

I thought I’d take a break from picking out some wedding Thank You cards which are also long overdue on mailing out to our friends and family. My birthday weekend, we ventured out to San Francisco, perched my husband’s camera on a sturdy tripod and sat on the edge of a wharf with a view of the Golden Gate bridge in the background. We got a few great shots of ourselves, which I’ll hold of on sharing until I’m done with the cards. You can have a sneak peek of what it might turn out like, due to the cell phone pic The Guy snagged of us. Poor Alfie looks uncomfortable.Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Wharf in San Francisco, Golden GateAt times, I’m glad that we didn’t have to stress about minor things such as invitations, flowers, decorations and whatnot. But at the same time, I wish we had of done it that way. Then I think, who really remembers those details other than the bride?

At the end of this summer, we are heading back to Newfoundland to have a small wedding reception in my parents backyard. I’m not sure whether to e-mail out invites, or to order fancy designed invitations and send them via snail mail. Any thoughts?

Better get crackin’. I did end up ordering some personalized M&M’s to have at our reception, that went with the theme of our Christmas wedding: red, gold and white — simplistic. I’ll talk about that in another post soon.

All prices are shown in USD.

Dior DiorShow Mascara — $25
This mascara gives tons of volume without the clump. My only complaint with it is that it’s dry from the get-go and reminds me of a 2 month old Smoky Lash from MAKE UP FOR EVER. Mascara should be thrown out between the 3-4month mark as bacteria can build up but I don’t think my Dior mascara will last that long. However I do have a tip for you, if you’re willing to try. Put a 2-3 drops of contact lens solution into the mascara bottle to wet the formula and it’s good as new.

Dry Bar dry shampoo — $20
Amazing aerosol dry shampoo that works for brunettes. If you spray it too close to your hair it will create a blob of white. Obey the directions and you’ll be set. I love this so much I use it on the days I wash my hair, to give it more volume and texture.

Eau de Lacoste perfume — $65
As you know I’m a huge fan of Philosophy Living Grace perfume as it was my Wedding day fragrance. As much as I love that scent, I try not to wear it as an everyday perfume since I don’t wish to ever get sick of it, because it holds a special memory now. Lacoste perfume is a nice replacement for it, for now. I received this from the PR company and I picked it out of a list of perfumes to review as I gravitate towards anything labelled as a fresh, clean scent. The bottle is very modern yet classy, with the clear to gradient white bottle, shaped a little light a light bulb if you ask me. I’m terrible with describing scents, but if you know and like what sort of fragrance I go for, then you’d most likely enjoy it also.

Benefit Porefessional — $31
I’m finally using up my beauty samples from when I was subscribing to so many monthly beauty box subscriptions, and I’ve been leaving Porefessional in my make-up bag to use. I’m surprised at how amazing this is. As a face primer newbie, I’m hooked on it. I don’t use it every day because I think I’d like to reserve flawless skin for special occasions, I plan on getting the full sized once I run out.

Philosophy Miracle Worker with retinoid pads — $74
After washing my face at night, I use one of the pads all over my face and the back of my hands before moisturizing. Retinoid has many benefits as it boosts collagen to reduce fine lines, and most importantly (to me) a speed cell turnover to even out discolouration. I am on my 3rd tub (bought the last two, received the first one for review) and I don’t think I’ll stop buying it for a while. I’ve noticed a tremendous change in my skin since using this and I’m kicking myself for not taking before photos The redness on my cheeks have faded. I feel incredibly comfortable walking around without a stitch of makeup on my face (and not the “no make-up make-up look”) either.

Lacoste L.12.12 — $69
The Guy was lucky enough to get sent the men’s Limited Edition L.12.12 by Lacoste… and he smells incredible. Not that he didn’t before, he rarely wears cologne. This one reminds me so much of his Old Spice deodorant. Very manly but clean, super sexy. He could wear this product daily if he wanted to. It has a unique twist, there’s a hint of citrus and spice to it. The packaging mimics his old school days of when he used to play Tennis on the regular. The Blanc scent is not limited edition, but the bottle is. Getting a bit deeper here, the textured panel running down each side reminds me of the tennis raquet, and the neon yellow flacon is the colour of tennis balls. The L.12.12 bottle mimics the sport of tennis itself, with the textured panel running down each side, reminding us of a tennis raquets threads and the fantastically bright yellow flacon was designed that way as it draws on the tennis ball, which is Lacoste’s renowned heritage.
