Flailing your arms in traffic will ulitmately hurt you

I got off the bus 1 stop before my regular stop this morning because I saw a car accident up ahead. Some girl, somehow managed to get her car up on the sidewalk with all the snow piled high, so she was ontop of a huge mound of snow. The woman who got off the bus stop with me was a woman who worked in the building adjacent to me. She’s chatty. I’m not a morning person. I don’t like talking in the mornings.

But this … this got us talking.

There is a set of lights where I got off the bus, but normally it doesn’t turn red, unless a pedestrian hits the walk sign. I did just that, along with woman I mentioned above. As we were crossing the road, a truck whizzed through the small intersection. Guess he didn’t see it was red. “Fair enough” because it’s NEVER red for these vehicles. But, you think they’d look up at the godamn streetlights to see if it was green to go, right?

Another huge loading truck went whizzing by. In the lane I was about to walk over into. I waved my hand up in the air like I was pissed cause… c’mon it’s my turn to walk buddy. I guess he saw me flail my arm about and glare being like “wth dude, let me cross” and then he slammed on his breaks, fish tailed, and I ran back in the other direction because he was fish tailing back into my area!

He went through, because he couldn’t stop in time.

Guess I nearly got knocked down. I wasn’t scared. I think I was just brazin’ cause I was mad and after flailing my arms, he got the attention that the light was red.

Huh.

Well. Lunch time!

Staying Fit with Indoor Climbing

Well, since I don’t frequent the climbing gym as much as I did, when I lived in Newfoundland—I decided to join indoor soccer for the winter months to keep me ‘fit’. However, I’ve gotten a little pudge, and even though when I went home and mentioned it by slip of the toungue, people automatically jumped down my throat saying I wasn’t fat.

I wasn’t saying I was morbidly obese, or even slightly fat. I guess I’m noticing a difference in my body since I stopped climbing so vigorously. I just took climbing for granted. Climbing ‘hardcore’ for the two years I was in school (recreationaly climbing for 15 ) really hardened up my body. Now? Now it’s all gross and nothing like it used to be in 2006. Perhaps I need a little self-esteem boost. I’m not a gym junkie. I keep falling off that wagon continuously. I go for 8 months, thinking that I’m doing awesome (which I was) and then boom, spring is here and I want to spend my time outdoors (not exercising). OH WELL.

What I’m trying to say is that I MISS THE CLIMBING GYM BACK HOME. I miss the atmosphere, and the laid back staff. Here at one of the local University gyms they have a wall in the basement, and it’s super small and dingy. I guess I could somehow manipulate my body and try and do a bunch of figure four’s up the wall (and fail, like this guy), since there’s no positive or negatives. Just a wall. That’s what I’ll do. See what kind of looks I’ll get. hehe

Point form

Hi. I like lists. Today’s blog entry will be just that, as I am a bit incoherent and rather point form. Just for today.

  • I woke up cold this morning. I need a space heater.
  • I literally live right around the corner from my boyfriend. 0.3km thanks to Google maps!
  • We went to see the movie: The Spirit, in a little small time theater 5 mins from home. It was neat.
  • Tomorrow, we may see Slumdog Millionaire, at that little theatre. Yay! Date nights!
  • I tried breaking the ice with one of my house mates. Failed. Her name is quite similar to her dogs name (a doberman!). I got the two mixed up. She didn’t find it funny. lol
  • I hate cats. I hate that cats are attracted to me, AND MY BED.
  • Soccer on Sunday was interesting. New turf laid down on the indoor feild makes for slow–movement. At least I scored. However. We lost 6–1. Shutdownnnnn!
  • I really love Lindt chocolate balls.
  • Being un–organized at my new place gives me daily headaches. Weird.
  • I need to find my clothes. I can’t be wearing the same pants to work daily, lol.
  • Self Reminder: Pick up Banff Film Festival tickets (will write a blog entry about this amazing show, tomorrow).
  • E-mail BFF and find out when we can plan a girls night out in Toronto.
  • Save $5,000 for a car by July 1 (literally, this is going to be easy, if I just put my money in savings lol).
  • My awesome purchases from Abercrombie arrived at work yesterday! I’m wearing my striped tee (grey), today!
  • The MAC counter better hurry up and get my shade in soon.
