Devoted post to my Momma

It’s my Mom’s birthday today. The photographer extraordinare herself (wonder if my Daddio himself bought her an extra sd card for her fancy rebel?). Seriously I wish that I had her skills and patience, with regards to photography. I’ve always wanted a fancy SLR camera, but of course wouldn’t have the patience to fiddle with it to make it take the best. pictures. ever. She has so many photos back home at the house, framed and matted. She has even given them away as presents. It was a bit overwhelming to walk into my parents house back in Newfoundland and literally see the walls covered in photos, all taken by her.

There’s even a few embarrassing one’s of me modeling with head shots. My boyfriend said my skin used to be so smooth “back then” in 2001. C’mon! I’m not wrinkly now! I wish I could post some photos here to show you of the Newfoundland scenery and the wonderful macro flower shots she’s taken over the past little while with her new camera. But I don’t have any on this computer.

So, to finish this off — Happy Birthday Mom!! Enjoy your post–birthday bath treats that I gave you while I was home! Have a soak in the tub and enjoy your day. Hope you read this! :) ♥ ♥ ♥

Oldies but goodies

I don’t know when I started listening to old music.

My parents never really played their own music in the house that I remember. Just the crappy AM (only!) radio station that I despised, especially when they played the Irish music on Sunday mornings when I took a bath (it was located in the bathroom of all places). I didn’t even know there was an FM notch on the radio until I was in middle school.  I remember when we were sitting in music class and overheard the other girls talk about New Kids On The Block. I literally thought that there were new kids on the block and going to attend our school. Lame! I didn’t let on that I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about either.

What brought this post on, was I was listening to the radio at work and one of my favorite songs by Louis Armstrong came on; What a Wonderful World. I remember when Napster was available in the 90’s and I downloaded a lot of music, my play list was so so diverse from Foo Fighters, Jack Johnson, Queens of The Stone Age, to Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday. I disliked putting my music on random because like I said, it was such a different genre of music playing and just doesn’t go together. I always sorted my music out into play lists.

I should get back all my old music. I use three computers (one at work, a desktop at home plus a laptop) and also an external hard drive. I think the simplest thing to do would be put it all onthe external hard drive and listen to it all from there.

Nautical Nancy

july31-09I felt all nautical at work yesterday at work with the outfit I was wearing. I wanted to wear my score of a deal at Mexx t-shirt yesterday, so I paired it with my white capri’s and haven’t worn my pink $5.99 sandals either. Voila — Nautical Nancy. Fancy dandy. Not too many accessories but I wore my silver armadillo or ant eater necklace (I don’t know what it is?).

Necklace: A hand me down, that I received when I was like 14.
Purse: Nine West (bought at Labels for $34!)
Tee: Navy scoop tee from Mexx ($14.99 w/ 25% off!)
Capris: Mexx
Shoes: Aeropostale ($5.99)

I got up a little bit later than usual today for a weekend. 10:30. Especially since I went to bed somewhat early for a weekend (around midnight). So I immediately popped out of bed and headed straight to the mall because I was craving that kernals popcorn they have in the kiosks.

I stopped into Shoppers Drug Mart and noticed they had a clearance section on the go with basically everything and the kitchen sink. Chocolate bars on sale, a box of super fun colorful 200 straws for $0.34 (hey I love drinking my soda with a straw).

Winners has their summer clearance on the go right now. It’s overwhelming rummaging through the racks and trying to find a gem. So I went over to the sports section once again as the racks there aren’t as packed and crowded with clothes and people that don’t move when you say please — but also  perhaps not on clearance. I only pick out women’s clothes if it’s literally staring at my in front of my face. I rarely buy clothing at winners  (mainly sports wear, purses, sunglasses and maybe shoes) unless it’s popping out or in the front view on a rack. As I was flicking through the clothes I found an awesome nike sports bra that was sorta pricey for Winners at $24.99 but cheaper than what I would get it at The Bay or elsewhere. So I picked it up.

Nice color hey?

It’s finally warming up outside (we have been totally jipped this summer in regards to our warm weather). So I’m going to spend it outside!

[This ‘outfit of the day’ was worn on July 31, 2009.]
