Five Things Friday . 005

01. CYCLING|

Ever since I went on that press trip to Palo Alto with Specialized, I can’t stop cycling almost every day. I guess it ignited something and I want to get out there on the roads way more often than I used to. This pic is an older one — sure I can’t have a fancy ‘modeling shoot’ every time I head out on my bike lol.

02. WATERMELON JUICE|

Ah! Finally! I know it’s closer to summer when Trader Joe’s brings back their delicious and tasty Watermelon juice! I snagged a few earlier this week when I saw it was on the shelves. Omg if you haven’t tried it, you need to. Plus, it’s way cheaper at TJs than anywhere else I’ve found.

03. PRETTY PETALS|

Speaking of Trader Joe’s, when the heck are the peonies going to be for sale? I feel like I missed the boat on that one. I haven’t seen them anywhere. They’re probably $72 at Whole Foods (I don’t shop there/go there, so perhaps that’s where they all are?). Either way, I picked up some pretties with spotted petals which I thought were sweet.

04. TARTE TANNER|

So this self-tanner is new to me, and I was sent it for review a few weeks ago. Usually I double-up my tanners to get extra dark (St. Moriz first, then apply a coat of Fake Bake self tanner on top). While my budget friendly tanners have been working for me, I’ve been really liking the Tarte one! Has anyone tried it? It makes you insanely dark when it’s ‘processing’, but when you wash it off, you have this gorgeous glowy tan. I’m not sure I’ll purchase it when it runs out because it’s $39, and my St. Moriz I can grab at Ulta for < $15. So, we’ll see…. but so far so good!

05. LUXURY LOUNGER|

My husband and I saw Guardians of the Galaxy on Tuesday night in a movie theater that has luxury loungers! It was so insane! We were the first to arrive so I took a butt-load of photos pre-previews and while the lights were still on. I can’t get over how comfortable, and reclining the seats were — and I did not fall asleep! Haha, struggles.

What’s new with you guys this week?

01. SPECIALIZED TRIP|

From Tuesday til Thursday I stayed in Palo Alto at Garden Court Hotel with Specialized Bicycles. It was to promote their new bicycle, the Turbo Vado. Most of you know by now, that I’m an ambassador for them and have been working with them since late 2015. It was a rad trip, and a nice little getaway even though I only live 20~ minutes away, haha! There will be tons of fun photos and a post coming up soon. If you followed along snapchat/instagram stories you would’ve gotten a behind-the-scenes look at what we were doing. An awesome few days that had me beat right out when I came home!

02. DRY SHAMPOO|

Did you know philosophy, one of my favourite skincare companies has a dry shampoo out?! Has anyone tried it? I spotted it not too long ago, forgot about it, then saw it again on Ulta’s website. I’m thinking of getting it to try it out. Don’t forget to use ebates when you check-out anywhere online! I’m still using my Aveda dry shampoo regularly, and it’s fantastic but sometimes it’s not quick enough for me when I want to go to bed. Although I’d reach for this far more often than I’d do an aerosol spray, sometimes when you’re tired you just wanna spritz the heck out of your hair and not take time to lift sections etc. So that’s why I like to have both types on hand at all times.

03. PACKING LIGHT|

Anyone interested in seeing a blog post about how I just brought a backpack with me for a 2 day trip? I mean it’s the lightest I’ve ever packed and might’ve definitely had to tetris-pack my way into making everything fit, but it did and I was some happy about it! Maybe I should pack this way for my upcoming trip to Portland at the end of the month. Yeah buddy you heard that right — I’m heading to Portland Oregon, and yes I’m totally meeting up with my best pal Megan! You know it.

04. BITE BEAUTY|

I received a few Bite Beauty lip pencils the other day and I’m excited to start swatching these. I noticed they look almost identical to each other just looking at them, but swatched they’re completely different. Like always, I’ll do a YouTube video along with a blog post on these. Eeeeee!!

05. MILANI|

I received a PR parcel from Milani Cosmetics, and they sent me quite a few items but I wanted to hone in on my favourite things from them thus far. I’ve yet to try their incredibly popular luminoso blush. I need to grab one at Ulta soon. Milani Baked Bronzer (in my hand) gives a natural subtle glow and works to give me a glow when I have self-tanner on, and when pale gives off this warmth. The Milani Retouch & Erase Lite Lift Concealer is an incredibly brightening concealer, doesn’t stay on for ages, but is great for under the eyes. And finally, the Milani rep + Set + Glow Illuminating Face Powder is great too. Although I don’t love to set my face with powder products every day as I prefer a dewy look, this almost mimics the hourglass ambient powder in dim light that I grab for a lot.

01. BAY AREA BLOGGERS|
I thought I’d start out this five-things-friday by sharing five local bay area bloggers/instagrammers I enjoy! Perhaps some of them are new-to-you, and you can check them out too!

Alyson from The Beauty Vanity · a friend of mine with a beautiful beauty site, and an even prettier instagram feed.
Grace from My Style and Grace · I met Grace at a blogger brunch a few months ago, she’s sweet is so stylish. Check out her outfits on instagram.
Joanne from GoFitJo · a fitness inspiration and a kind soul. Her instagram feed is pure goals.
Melissa from Savvy in San Francisco · she’s a darling, and always on top of the latest beauty launches. Her instagram beauty flatlays are magazine worthy.
Ariana Lauren from Fashion Born · From her interior style right down tot he clothes she wears, I love it all! I found her on instagram.

02. OCTOLY|
Octoly.com is a site where you can receive free beauty products in exchange for a post on Instagram or a YouTube video. Obviously there’s a catch and it’s only open to USA (sorry Canadian pals), and you have to have 5K on YT, and 10K followers on IG. But it’s SO awesome because my parcel that came yesterday, was a few Dior items! Sign up if you can.

03. EBATES|
Ebates is old news to many, but I recently signed up in April, and I’ve already made $9.00 in savings from shopping online and using the discount. You don’t even have to think about it because when you visit a website (and you have the ebates in your web-browser-bar thing) it automatically pops up like an ad (lol… great) and you can “activate your %% back now” and most times it’s between 1-4% but if it’s your birthday week, you get a whoppin’ 15% back on your purchases on a lot of stores! You can use my referral link to sign up if you wish. Not sure what I get out of it to be honest though…

04. TARGET TEES|
Weird angle/photo of me. Ignore the face, look at the tee. lol. Blush pink is a fantastic colour and I’ve been on the hunt for so many tops in that perfect-shade since I realized how …. flattering it looked on me. Target has a 3/4 length top that kind of resembles a baseball tee (sleeves are reversed in stripes). I picked it up yesterday for $12, buy it here. Sweet.

05. BIRTHDAY CONVERTIBLE|
My birthday was last Sunday, and all I wanted to do was just go for a simple adventure in the car I labeled as the “birthday convertible” aka, convertible life, the Mazda MX5 we had for the week. My husband and I drove down the PCH (pacific coast highway) and hung out at coffee shops, browsed a store in Santa Cruz, and literally spent the day crusin’ along. It was so fun and relaxing and honestly one of the best birthdays I’ve had. By the way, spot my phone case? I ended up switching over to an otterbox because I dropped my phone on the ground (with the google-pixel case on it!) and it still chipped on the two bottom corners. Ticked off I was. Anyway, this slim otterbox case is definitely bulkier than most, but if it keeps this Pixel safe’n sound and free of any more chips I’m a happy phone-owner lol.
