Bitter-sweet life updates

Life lately has been a bit bitter-sweet, if we’re being honest. I had a bunch of posts scheduled to go live during the entire time I was home in Newfoundland (Canada, for those who don’t know). So as soon as I got back to California, I’ve been slack on the blog (not so much on social media though!). So I promise I will be back to regular blogging really really soon :) But for now, a little update:

Rebecca Minkoff meeting

Squeeee!!!!

Lexus NX200t

Squeeee x 3!!!!

Sweet:

  • Being back in California
  • Fall = layering clothes (aka my favourite way to style clothes)
  • Being back into a routine after Newfoundland
  • All the Holiday collections coming out
  • Blog/Vlog travel opportunities coming soon (can’t speak about it yet!)
  • Reviewing a Lexus luxury SUV crossover
  • Palm trees
  • My husband running his fastest half marathon ever (ran right in with the elites, just seconds on getting under 1hr 20 mins!)
  • Visitors from Canada
  • Meeting Rebecca Minkoff, winning a purse of hers from my Polyvore set, and having her sign it.

Bitter:

  • Not having answers to my chronic hives & being itchy 24/7 (I’m still not going to show you pictures of my hives)
  • California being chillier than average
  • Giving back the Lexus luxury SUV crossover

If you’ve been following me on social media, you’ll see that I update frequently (aka daily) on facebook, twitter, youtube, and instagram. I will be back to regular blogging soon. I simply have to catch up on some posts I’ve been meaning to publish. Like, bringing back Pomeranian Fridays (requested by my Mother-In-Law, actually!!) and more outfits of the weeks (requested by other readers). So excited to be back to a routine again.

Eyeliners: Which colour would you reach for?

Mr-Write-NowtheBalm always has the perfect play on words for their packaging. Mr. Write Now are eyeliner pencils that come in 8 playful shades. Not only are they sweetly called Mr. Write Now, the specific colours are actually men’s names. Ha! Goodness.

Mr-Write-Now-TheBalmTop to bottom the colours are named: Brian B. Beige, Jac B. Bronze, Bill B. Mocha, Raj B. Navy, Dean B. Onyx. Fun, hey?

And the 5 colours swatched onto the back of my hand. Mr-Write-Now-swatches

Navy isn’t typically a colour I reach for, so I thought — this time for some blog swatches, why not? A softer look from black, but something more unusual than opting for a soft brown. navy-mr-write-now

Liner-and-sharpenerThe bottom of the eyeliner pops off and there is a mini sharpener in each one for convenience and precise application.

There are definitely more soft and creamier feeling eyeliners out there. I would rate this one a B if I was a teacher. Which I’m not (in case you were wondering).

Which colour would you reach for? You can buy thebalm Mr. Write Now here.

In-Flight Beauty Routine

Hello from St. John’s Newfoundland! I have been here for almost two weeks and soon heading back to warm, sunny California. I thought I’d write about my in-flight beauty routine. Kinda different, right?

It’s bound to happen, a 10+ hour flight to now get home to our family in Newfoundland, I’ve become more prepared and organized when it comes to in-flight routines. I also wanted to show you what I wear during a long haul flight. My main goal is to be comfortable.

Airplane-clothesCan you spot the Canadian clothes? There’s two items… :)

Here are a few top essentials I keep with me to occupy my time, or freshen up if need be.in-flight-beauty

1. Dior Creme de rose: perfect for dry lips 2. Face wipes: Because my skin dries out and gets weird. 3. Empty water bottle: After going through security and to avoid costly bottles of water — fill up at a fountain after security to stay hydrated. 4. iPad: for playing games or writing blog posts if you do so desire, and hey — what if your in-flight movie screen doesn’t work? It happens. It sucks. 5. Sony noise cancelling headphones: to tune out the chick snoring next to you, or to zone out and listen to a movie comfortably without ear buds causing aches after hours of chillin’ out in your ears. 6. Hand sanitizer: Because. Germs. 7. Tissue/toilet paper: Crisis averted when the airplane bathrooms runs out of t.p during a flight and you don’t have to resort to wiping with a paper towel. 8. Hair tie: My hair gets gross easily. Why not. 9. Neck pillow: A god send for those long flights when you’re not sharing a row with your beau and don’t want to do the dreaded neck bob to the person next to you. 10. Food: Some flight provide snacks. I get hangry when I’m hungry, so I want to eat when I want to eat. This time I packed crackers, japanese cookies, and a boat-load of pb/jelly sandwiches.
