OOTD: Trying to play it cool, meeting REBECCA MINKOFF!

For those that know me in person already, it isn’t a surprise to know I am a little quirky and often silly. I don’t try to dress cool, or stylish for anyone. I probably still dress the way I still do when I was a teenager to be honest, with an odd layer thrown in to make it look a bit different than so many years ago.

I frequent both older shops, and still shop at places like Forever 21, H&M because hello — they have amazing basics and I’m not about to spend a fortune on an $80 t-shirt. Okay, unless it’s like once a year or so and I feel like splurgin’ for once. There is that odd time. I mean, who can say no to Anthropologie, and Free People? They have some gorgeous pieces.

It’s been a while since I did an ouftit of the day (OOTD) post on spiffykerms. And like Pomeranian Friday’s, I thought I’d bring it back.FPMe

This entire outfit I’m wearing below, is exactly what I had worn to the Polyvore + Rebecca Minkoff event. Ahem, although MINUS the purse.Rebecca Minkoff and I

Because oh my word, I won that Minkoff Micro Moto bag, and even had her sign my new purse for me. I got it all on film too!Rebecca-Minkoff-Moto-purse

I’d love to say that this is my everyday bag. But I don’t carry it unless I’m going somewhere in particular — ie: Not the grocery store. I can’t afford these types of luxuries any more, especially since I’m currently not working. I’m not usually the type of person that saves things for special occasions, but this purse now has a soft spot in my heart! HAH!OOTD-Black

Which is why I’ve also agreed to work with Free People again. I decided this time, when I was picking out something from their website, that I’d get something a little out of my comfort zone, yet still something I would wear on the regular.FPShoes

I’m usually a browns/neutrals girl— but when pulling this outfit together, I realized I needed to wear something black or grey on my feet. I ended up getting the Summit Ankle Boots in black. It was a good choice. Although, being an 8.5 shoe (I went for size 40 Euro = size 9) it does elongate my foot a little bit longer than I would like. Then again, I don’t have the smallest feet in the world either. I’m always a bit disappointed when expensive shoes doesn’t come in half sizes as I am a true 8.5, so these are a bit loose on my foot.

Feet-FPHowever, I’ve been wearing them non-stop, with jeans, with black pants…and best yet, with these faux leather leggings from Joe Fresh (I picked those up while home in Newfoundland). What do you guys think? P.s I’m a big fan of mixing brown’s and black’s together, hence my faux leather brown jacket + black/grey everything else.

And to end it with some fun/awkward poses. My husband in the process of calling out my “Captain Morgan pose” in this stance. Hence my smirk.CptMorganPose

My nervous dance when I’ve had enough photo-takin’ :) Nervous-dance

POM Friday is back!

Many people requested I bring Pomeranian Friday’s back — where I feature our 6 year old bossy boots Pomeranian, named Alfie. I’m sure you’re all aware of who he is, because for over half a year I blogged about his antics each Friday.

Here he is getting up to no good, hanging out underneath our ottoman in the living room. The little pillow next to him actually isn’t him! My friend back home in Newfoundland saw it, and bought it for me — doesn’t it look just like Alfie?!

Have a good weekend guys!

Dior Holiday 2015 Lipsticks

Christian-Dior-StateGoldLipHoooboy beauty friends. Step back a bit here today, and look at that Christmas delight with that golden hour of sunlight shining down on those beauts. I’ve recently discovered an even better time of day to shoot my beauty photos up on the landing of our staircase. They don’t be callin’ it golden hour for nothin.

Skiis-and-DiorDior’s Holiday 2015 collection is so very appropriately named State of Gold. Put two and two together, and you have yourself a bombshell collection. Does it sound like I’m patting myself on the back? Because I kind of am. I love the way these turned out, so simply and so wintery. That Target $1 aisle sucked me in once again (that’s where the adorable mini old school skii’s are from). #RIPTargetCanada

Let’s get on with it, shall we?
Diorific-Mat-Lipsticks

4-Mat-Lipsticks-DiorThe kiss of velvet. Diorific mat colours from the State of Gold are Dior’s first easy-wearing matte lipsticks. They are meant to apply seamlessly to the lips — not a tugging motion like most matte colours. These four colours are a graceful palette to suit any mood that strikes your fancy, but still keeping that elegance in check. It is Dior afterall.

Ha! Sometimes it’s so awkward taking photos of yourself with the self-timer on your camera. I mean, is that me smizing and smiling at the same time? Rule breaker!

Diorific-Mat-FabuleuseDiorific Mat 750 Fabuleuse

Pretty sure I’m going to be rocking the Fabeleuse Christmas red colour next weekend at my husband’s work Christmas party. What colour stands out to you the most, and which one would you wear if you owned all four lipsticks? In the bullets the two colours Facinate and Radieuse look different, but on my lips not so much. Side note, isn’t that the fanciest name for a tube of lipstick? I recently found out that they’re called bullets. Huh, I like it. I don’t like guns though, so don’t get that in your head.

How do they feel on the lips? Considering they’re marketed as a mat velvet and promises to deliver a long wearing finish yet comfortable wearing (which I admit, they are). They’re also quite hydrating on the lips. I often can tell right off the bat if a lip product will keep me from wearing it out in public. Drying lips aren’t cool. I mean why make a drying lip product in 2015 now anyways, am I right? Dior always gets it right.

Now I know you might not have the patience to keep scrolling up and comparing the colours, so I’ve swatched them on my hand for your ease. Aren’t I nice! Ignore the hives popping up though please ‘n thanks!

4-Dior-lipsticksCould you tell I got a little carried away taking tons of photos of Dior’s beautiful Holiday collection? I think I’m a gold-fan at heart. The packaging is enchanting, and the colours are timeless yet festive and perfect for the Holidays.
