Google map me

I’m so glad it’s Friday. We had a holiday on Monday, and one would think that would make the rest of the work week fly by, but those short weeks never do for me. Earlier this week and a bit of last our mountain high snow banks completely melted with the few days of our warm spell. I got used to only wearing a lighter jacket than my normal (incredibly warm) down jacket that boyfriend got my for Christmas. Until yesterday. Yesterday was just super bitter cold again, and the wind just whipped past you. Enough to nearly knock one down. I had to go to the dentist immediately after work, but I tried racing out the door to catch an earlier bus so I’d have time to actually grab a hoody to put under my jacket and wear my winter hat. OMFG, it was insane yesterday. It was almost like having Newfoundland wind, mixed with Ontario cold. I don’t think I can describe it, unless you felt it too.

I was speaking with the CEO of our company (whom by the way is a super awesome man. Have I ever told you all how much I really do honestly love my job?) this morning and told him about my recent ride home with a co–worker.

Normally, when I take the bus like I have mentioned many times in previous posts, it takes about an hour and two bus rides to get door to door. When my co–worker drives me, it takes fifteen minutes. Crazy, yes?

Regardless of that, I was joking around with him saying that I shouldn’t take my co–worker up on ride offers, because I’ll get spoiled at how short of a trip it takes to get me home, and I will want to purchase my car without a down payment.

Plus, the darn guy has bum warmers in the car! I love bum warmers.

It’s winter, and I’m all toasty, the whole ride home. I mentioned to co–worker that he’d need to draw me a map on how to get me home, when I do purchase my vehicle. He thought that was a pretty silly request, but I genuinely need a MAP, as I only know the bus routes for this city. The CEO joked and told me that when I do purchase my car, I’ll either need a GPS or I’ll drive the exact same way as the bus drives me home now , which is totally pointless of me purchasing a car, as I’d be taing the bus route home, going all zig-zagged through the different streets, and it will end up still taking me one hour, instead of the expected 15 minutes.

I am the worst story teller ever, but I thought it was the funniest thing ever. So maybe this blog entry didn’t come out as funny as I had intended, but I hope it was somewhat entertaining you for the time being!? lol… ya.

What’s going on this weekend?

P.S: I’m making Spicy Thai Chicken with Bell Peppers and Cashews tonight, for supper. I’ll post it in my recipe section after I take photos!

Does wearing something, change your status?

It takes me two buses and about an hour to get to and from work during the weekdays. Ever since I moved into my new place, I’ve been getting rides to the bus terminal with my room mate. Which usually gives me an extra half hour in the mornings to do other things. Naturally, one would eat breakfast during this time. But not I, as I can’t stomach anything early — I bring in a few things to munch on at 10 o’clock and I’m ready for the day to begin.

This leaves me with more time to get ready in the mornings; and such so, I’ve been putting more effort into the way I look, because of this. I still pick out my clothes the night before, but lately I’ve been feeling more adventurous and starting to accessorize my wardrobe. A ring or two on my fingers, a bracelet, a nice belt, spend time on a bit of makeup, doing my hair, and so on. I went on a shopping trip after work one day, and picked up some more dress pants for work. Since they’re longer than normal pants, I feel like when I wear my flats, my look is to some degree, un–polished. Which leaves me with no other: heels. (I have these great (small) heels, in both colors by the way).

What I’m trying to get at, is that when I’m dressed up, I get treated differently. Which almost disgusts me, and I’m not even sure why! I guess it’s because, I’m the same person whether or not I look fancy, right?

I’m walking in the hallway to use the washroom at work (it’s like a 4 minute walk, as we’re joined onto another office and the washrooms are in the other building), and people smile at me now. People say hello.  They acknowledge my existence! Why couldn’t they do that when I was wearing khaki’s, flats and a cotton long sleeved? I hate that because you look expensive, your status changes. I hate that when I feel that I look “prettier” so to speak, I get smiled at, and occasionally turn heads. Don’t you think that’s sort of wrong? Guess it helps the self–esteem, and forces me to dress up more often. But some days I just don’t feel like it. But I still want people to say hello to me! ha.

I don’t know. I think I’m pretty average looking, and I don’t scowl when I walk anywhere. So why don’t I get smiles when I wear “casual” wear at work?

I’m sure this happens to more people than just me.  Ugh.

Spill it.

You! No buy!

February was initially supposed to be the no–buy month, on my list of things to accomplish for that month. But that was a poor, poor decision indeed. Rather than sulk at my chequing account, I still am doing pretty good with my down payment for a car. February was quite busy, as I had to pay for my outdoor soccer fees, a friend is coming to visit this weekend, whom I rarely get to see (Helloooo Toronto shopping!), and miscellaneous other stuff I spent money on.

Which leaves me to the longer month of March, it’s okay… only 3 days longer than February. But I think I will try super hard and not purchase anything for the month of March besides groceries, and bills. Bills not being anything on Visa and frivolous spending, however.

Think I can do it? Are you up for the challenge?
