Maternity clothing: yay or nay?

Up until week 18-19 my clothing fit fine, for the most part. A lot of my jeans would feel tight around the belly area, but the Zara jeans (which I really hate to wear frequently since they honestly don’t last very long especially considering I only have 2 pairs of jeans at a time) were the only one’s that I’d been wearing from week 13 on wards, besides my Joe Fresh velvet-like leggings which are so incredibly comfortable.

Then I got my Cuddl Duds velour pants, which I was living in, waiting for my online H&M order to arrive with all my maternity pants (I bought 6 pairs of pants/leggings, trying to decipher my preg-size, the style I wanted, etc). They arrived, I kept 2, and I returned 4 of them earlier this week. For ages I didn’t think maternity clothing was worth it. I would only be wearing them for a few months, and if/when I get pregnant again, it might be opposite seasons — thus “wasting” my money. I thought for the longest time I could do without, and buy bigger sizes in regular-wear. However I did indulge-if-you-will, in some H&M maternity jeans to get by. You’ll get sick of only wearing 2 pairs of pants for the past few months, I tell ya. I wanted to feel like I was wearing clothing that actually fit me, and I didn’t have to unbutton each time I sat down. Ha! I honestly think you can simply get away with up-sizing your tops, but for pants — I’d prefer maternity style, just for the comfort and not having anything dig into my stomach.

I also received some items from PinkBlush Maternity (thanks to my pal Megan!) that you’ve seen on the blog already, which are cute, comfortable and most of all — affordable. I don’t spend much on clothing honestly, and these I’m sure will work during, and after pregnancy.

Wearing:
Pink Blush Lavender Striped Colorblock Sleeve Maternity Top ($33)
H&M Super Skinny Maternity Jeans ($34)
Fossil Campbell Crossbody ($138)

How long did you use/wear your maternity clothing for? As in, post-pregnancy? I don’t have any qualms with wearing it for as long as it takes, but I’m interested in learning and hearing some feedback!

Also — has anyone bought pregnancy bras? I don’t know where to look, or where to go. Why are they helpful? I think my bras pre-preg were too big to begin with, so I haven’t had to size up (yet?). Haha!

Disclaimer: Huge thanks to my pal Megan for hooking me up with PinkBlush to be an ambassador with them too! As a PinkBlush Ambassador I get 2 points for 2 pieces of clothing to review. Each time I post = 1 point. I did not receive monetary compensation for posting about the brand.

My California Casual Spring Style #FossilStyle

Outfit of the days are one of my favourite things to post on my blog, yet they’re far and few between lately.

I’m forever browsing the Forever 21 store at my local mall, and recently picked up a denim top. I already have one that I bought a few years ago at Target but only had worn it a handful of times. Now, comparing the two together — the one from Forever 21, has a more laidback look to it. Like you’re not trying so hard. Brown stitching, a softer material, and not as heavy to wear in this California weather.

So, thought I’d pull together this afford outfit and show you what I’m wearing, head-to-toe.

Outfit deets:
RayBans | Forever 21 top | Fossil Maya Hobo
Target denim | Faux suede slip-ons | Moto 360 watch (similar)
Etsy gold rings | Gold bracelet from my parents 10+ years ago

While I’m not used to carrying a larger bag on me anymore (I always seem to panic and lose items in the dark abyss of my purse), I’ve been wearing this one when I want to head out with my pals and I need to cart around a lot of stuff. For instance, blog photos…and I require an outfit change. It’ll all fit in this bag, ha!

Thanks for Fossil for sending over this sweet purse. It’s the Maya Hobo in the Marine shade, and available online. Yay!

Posin’ with my lunch. One of the biggest, and also one of the most expensive salads I’ve ever eaten. But it was good. And it had kale in it! You bet I ate every bite of it (because it was $$$ lol).

My wardrobe isn’t the most expensive one out there, but I thought you guys would be interested in some of my latest purchases (and PR samples: the Fossil purse). By the way, totally don’t own that keepcup in the photo above. I finally saw one at a store in Santa Cruz, and snapped a pic with it. Is that weird?

I love my pink slip-on’s so much I bought two pairs of them, heehee!

Shop my outfit! (Sorry not everything is exact, similar items linked below)

Disclaimer: If ya didn’t catch it already from all my mentions above, Fossil sent me the Maya Hobo for review.

prAna Fall Style | OOTD

IMG_20160904_223757Gosh, can you believe how ancient I am? I’ve been climbing for 21 years! The reason this is relevant to today’s blog post, is because I remember the days of indoor climbing back home in Newfoundland and seeing my pals wearing prAna gear.

IMG_20160904_224114Skip forward 21 years and I’m living in the same state where prAna started their business, Carlsbad California. It’s kinda cool really, and I’m loving how well known they’ve gotten over the years. You might even remember my #SpiffykermsprAna instagram giveaway that I hosted last year directly with prAna with their new retail store in Palo Alto. Two people won outfits from their collection, and I’m still rockin and wearing those striped yoga pants. Love’em.

Digging the sweater, since it dips into your waist a little bit giving you a nice figure flattering shape, instead of a regular sweater where it just looks a little boxy.

IMG_20160904_222230Here I’m wearing the prAna Mattea Sweater (recycled wool), and the London Jeans (organic cotton jeans, which are now on sale!), on my feet I’m wearing a pair of suede wedge peep toe booties that a friend GAVE me. I know! I love them. Here’s a close up:

IMG_20160904_224400prAna’s mission is to inspire healthy, active, and free-spirited living. Since there was a mild crispness in the air this Labour Day weekend, I thought it was perfect timing to wear my sweater from prAna to show you some pieces that are upcoming to their Fall Collection, this was the outfit I wore yesterday! I’m happy to see they bring back the classics from last year — I spotted the exact sweater on their website when I was doing my giveaway last year.

IMG_20160904_221525What did you guys do this weekend? We had a pretty low-key Labour Day weekend, as Mr. Spiffykerms came down with a bit of a head cold on Friday. Just in time for the weekend right? Poor guy.

IMG_20160904_230918We were productive though, and washed some of the bikes down, ya’know gave them a little yearly bath so to speak. Let me tell you. That’s a bit of a #WeirdWorkout if there ever was one. Either that, or I’m gettin’ old. My back is a little sore from crouching down in my flip flops and jogging pants for a good hour giving these old bikes a sponge bath! Haha.
