Miss fix-it and forget it!

Boy do I really hate relying on appointments and doctors to fix me right up.

It all started when I ended up having benefits at my job, or maybe even before then because in 2006 when I moved to Ontario, one week later I had a set of brand new shiny braces on.

But I’m one of those people that has to fix absolutely everything that is wrong with me. I never used to be like this! Can you believe that I cannot get to sleep without my retainer in my mouth? I actually feel guilty for leaving it out. If I left it at the boyfriends for example, there’s no way in hell I’m getting up at 11:00PM to walk the small 300 meter jaunt to his place to pick it up I’d feel bad. But of course I fall asleep within minutes and wouldn’t feel that guilty, for that long ;)

I go to the chiropractor once every three weeks. I’ve been making frequent trips to my dentist for not the best appointments in the world. People should start investing term life quotes on me, or something. I bet I’m worth a lot now with all these “gold” fillings, straight back and teeth! I must have ‘soft teeth’ (I’ll just keep telling myself that) that are prone to cavities. Lately, I’ve been going back to him to scoop out the old silver fillings and replacing them with bright white ones. Voluntarily! Plus, nevermind the fact it’s so costly. On the bright side — insurance covers most of these costs 100% anyway. I’m also way jealous of my brother who hasn’t been to a dentist since he moved to Ireland in 2000 and he just went last week with absolutely no cavities.

I don’t know what’s subconsciously going on that makes me want to be in tiptop perfect shape. I wish my subconscious brain would clue in that actually working out at a gym and not eating popcorn for supper is a healthier alternative. Trust me, I’ve been known on many occasions to skip supper out of pure laziness and just make a bag of popcorn!! Terrible isn’t it?

Once the end of August comes when I move in with my boyfriend, and I’m back from my B.C. Trip I will be cooking supper for us on a nightly basis. Mmm. Maybe more food posts to come in the future? If I get creative enough to branch out of my favorite weekly menu plans.

Devoted post to my Momma

It’s my Mom’s birthday today. The photographer extraordinare herself (wonder if my Daddio himself bought her an extra sd card for her fancy rebel?). Seriously I wish that I had her skills and patience, with regards to photography. I’ve always wanted a fancy SLR camera, but of course wouldn’t have the patience to fiddle with it to make it take the best. pictures. ever. She has so many photos back home at the house, framed and matted. She has even given them away as presents. It was a bit overwhelming to walk into my parents house back in Newfoundland and literally see the walls covered in photos, all taken by her.

There’s even a few embarrassing one’s of me modeling with head shots. My boyfriend said my skin used to be so smooth “back then” in 2001. C’mon! I’m not wrinkly now! I wish I could post some photos here to show you of the Newfoundland scenery and the wonderful macro flower shots she’s taken over the past little while with her new camera. But I don’t have any on this computer.

So, to finish this off — Happy Birthday Mom!! Enjoy your post–birthday bath treats that I gave you while I was home! Have a soak in the tub and enjoy your day. Hope you read this! :) ♥ ♥ ♥

Oldies but goodies

I don’t know when I started listening to old music.

My parents never really played their own music in the house that I remember. Just the crappy AM (only!) radio station that I despised, especially when they played the Irish music on Sunday mornings when I took a bath (it was located in the bathroom of all places). I didn’t even know there was an FM notch on the radio until I was in middle school.  I remember when we were sitting in music class and overheard the other girls talk about New Kids On The Block. I literally thought that there were new kids on the block and going to attend our school. Lame! I didn’t let on that I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about either.

What brought this post on, was I was listening to the radio at work and one of my favorite songs by Louis Armstrong came on; What a Wonderful World. I remember when Napster was available in the 90’s and I downloaded a lot of music, my play list was so so diverse from Foo Fighters, Jack Johnson, Queens of The Stone Age, to Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday. I disliked putting my music on random because like I said, it was such a different genre of music playing and just doesn’t go together. I always sorted my music out into play lists.

I should get back all my old music. I use three computers (one at work, a desktop at home plus a laptop) and also an external hard drive. I think the simplest thing to do would be put it all onthe external hard drive and listen to it all from there.
