CrossFit on the brain

I tweet about CrossFit a lot. I go to CrossFit a lot. I blog about my CrossFit weekly workouts each Saturday. I didn’t even know what CrossFit was in January. I’m on my 20th week of CrossFit this week, meaning I first joined at the end of February. I guess you could say I drank the CrossFit Kool-Aid ;)

Today, I’m going to show you some of my favorite images I found on some sites, primarily found on Pinterest and pinn’ed so to speak. (Follow me on Pinterest!).

Kipping pull ups. One of my favorite things to do (I’m serious).

Handstand pushups. I haven’t learned how to do the pushup part yet, but I’m holding the handstands for 30 seconds!

This looks tough. Haven’t had to carry sand bags up a dirt hill before.

What everyone feels like after a hard CrossFit workout.

I’ve found some great images on a tumblr account perfectly named Thrustr.

Last week I had to flip a tractor tire because my second 200m sprint was slower than my first. That shiz is heavy!

The face of concentration.

I’m planning on writing a blog post on what CrossFit is, and why I enjoy going so much. But there’s so much to say I don’t even know where to start.

The weekender wrapup

Relaxing Canada Day weekend? Not quite! We were go-go-go the entire time.

Friday was our holiday and my Boyfriend and I met up with some of my neighbours who I knew back home in Newfoundland. They were passing through my city and we met up with them for lunch at Montana’s! If any of you go there – you have to try out their nachos. Sans beans, or beef. Add the chicken. I’m not sure what they do to the actual nacho chips, I joke and say it’s MSG because it’s so addicting. Craving them again already!

Saturday we drove to Paris (Ontario lol) and attended an engagement party for my awesome friends who actually live in Banff. I haven’t seen them for 5 years, and the last time I was in Banff, they were in my city. Imagine that timing, sucky hey.

Last night we headed out to a Toronto wedding for my Boyfriend’s friend. It was held at the Casa Loma — a beautiful castle in Toronto, and you can be sure I took a ton of photos there. It was different than any wedding I’ve ever attended because the bride was Muslim, so it was quite traditional. It was a very posh wedding, including 5 out of the 10 people at our dinner table being Doctors. Onto the photos, since they all speak for themselves:

I was impressed by the live DJ playing actual vinyl on the dance floor. Some of the music was Bollywood style mixed in with the music you’d typically hear on the radio. It was interesting!

I wore this dress for the second time since I bought it back for another wedding in 2006. I’m not feeling very wordy this evening, so I’ll leave it all at that! Hope your Monday back to work after the long weekend wasn’t too hard on you. As for the Americans, Happy Independence Day :)

New nail polish loves!

I went to a new pedicurist, a lady from Cambodia. She’s amazing, but more expensive than my regular Viet lady that I go to ($35 compared to $20).Anyway for some reason I couldn’t go to my regular girl, so I went to this new place my co-worker recommended. I picked out the brightest polish on her nail polish rack for my toes. It’s China Glazes summer 2011 polish called Flip Flop Fantasy.

It looks great on toes, even if you don’t have a tan — it still makes your feet look dark! As the reviewer posted, it’s quite hard to capture, since it’s pretty neon. Nail polish in general is hard to photograph. I liked the color so much that I ended up buying it at Sally’s Beauty Supply store for $6. I’ve never heard of Sally’s before, and my co-workers went there one time during their lunch break and came back and told me about their deals. I’d say! It’s a discount store, with brand new stuff! I even bought a teasing boar bristle hair brush. But that’s another post for another time.

My second polish I picked up was at the local Sephora. It’s called Sephora by OPI — Iris I Was Thinner. I don’t know why I purchased it. Probably to go on my toes. I did wear it on my fingers for about a week. Which is rare, since i”m not a fan of anything but neutrals on my fingers.

Any new colors you’ve been trying out lately?
