Our Easter Sunday

Would you like ham and scalloped potatoes? I asked my husband a few days prior to Easter Sunday.

Ham? Asking with his nose a little turned up.

Then I suggested Or we could do roast chicken and scalloped potatoes, what do you think?

Well, ham is fine I guess. Most indecisive husband award goes to…

Walking-AlfieAnd so Easter Sunday rolled around. We were feeling a little lazy. I headed out on my walk with Alfie, Nicole (my 10 month pregnant neighbour!) and her pooch, who Alfie hates. We talked about what our Easter traditions were, and had a little chat. It was getting quite warm out so after the walk instead of going on my weekly run together with my husband, I decided to run 1.79 miles on the treadmill while he snoozed on the couch for a bit.

When I came back home, I noticed he was awake asking me when we’re going to head out for our run together. You know when you’re just in the mood to run and you need to get out there otherwise it probably wouldn’t happen later? That’s what I did. He asked me if I’d like to go again, and to be honest – I really didn’t want to. But as soon as he said he wanted company for half of his run, I decided to get off my butt and go for another run.

My husband and I prefer to run right before the sun sets, so it’s cooler outside. And before that had to happen, we needed to get some groceries for our Easter dinner. I’m surprised the stores were open, then again my husband didn’t get Good Friday, nor Easter Monday off work.

GroceriesWe went to the grocery store and seriously could not pass up the pre-cooked rotisserie chicken fr $4.94. In Canada, I swear they’re at least nine bucks. So that was our easter dinner plan. Clearly I enjoyed taking photos of my shoes/pants on Sunday. I’m obsessed with these black sneakers, they’re from Target by the way!

In the afternoon, I’m not entirely sure how – but we ran out of time and things got a bit hectic. As per usual. I don’t let that bother me any more. But, we took Alfie out and went on a 6km run together. It was probably one of the best runs of my year so far. I didn’t feel winded, nor did anything hurt. I blame it on the warm-up that I did on the treadmill a few hours prior. Guess that was pretty good for me!

Baskin-Robbins-bunny-cakeOnce we came home, I had to head over to Baskin Robbins because I placed a telephone order for a bunny ice cream cake a couple of hours prior, and it was ready for pick-up. Baskin Robbins seriously does the cutest cakes for any occasion. We picked it up just in the nick of time to have for our Easter dessert.

Easter-Sunday-Dinner

Easter-DinnerAfter everything got settled away, I made the veggies to go with the roast chicken we picked up prior. I love feasting on special occasions, so I did not disappoint delivering a full plate of food to the table. Check out all the yummy goodness I made! I like to pat myself on the back. I picked up a dark chocolate Lindt bunny for my husband, and a milk chocolate one for myself. World Market was having a crazy good sale a couple of weeks ago leading up to Easter and some of the stuff was 50% off! I refrained on buying all the cute bunny items, and only bought two chocolate ones for ourselves.

Bunny-Roll-Cake

Bunnyroll-ice-cream-cakeOf course, we dug into the cake immediately after. My husband was such a stindge cutting the cake. Half a piece for the both of us? You gotta be kiddin’ me! Slice another piece off for us b’y. With the Baskin Robbins bunny roll cake, you could choose from 3 different flavours of ice cream in the middle: vanilla, mint chocolate chip, or chocolate chip. I chose the latter — it was pretty amazing. Technically this cake serves 6-8 people, but we aren’t sharing!

However I will share something else with you guys. You can enter to win a Baskin Robbins gift card too valued at $31, enough for you to buy a bunny roll ice cream cake too! Yay, what a surprise! Just enter using the rafflecopter form below. Giveaway is only open to US residents.

Although my post is a little late going up since Easter was a few days ago, I still hope you had a wonderful Easter with your family!

How to wear the Dior Lip & Cheek Glow

Dior-Lip-Glow-headerAs I’ve stated many a time, I love a sun kissed and dewy look to my makeup. The only powder I wear on my face is a bronzing colour (mainly gravitate towards California Bronze by bareMinerals, see how I apply it!) and everything else is cream or liquid based.

Lip-and-Cheek-Glow-Size-comDior Lip & Cheek Glow is perfectly marketed towards people like me. Dual purpose, takes up little room in the makeup bag since it’s one product, not two. And, created a lasting all day colour to the cheeks and lips.

Here, let me explain.

Dior-Cheek-and-Lip-GlowWhen I first opened it up, I was all “Oh hayy no, this won’t work”. Since it was a bright pink, and I usually go for either softer natural looking blushes, or something with peachy undertones.

Dior-Lip-and-Cheek-GlowEven opening the nail polish like bottle, and looking at the applicator, I thought it was a little weird. It smells minty (yum). You’ll notice that the applicator is a soft spongy round shape. I apply the smallest amount to my cheeks and layer it, because I can see myself messing it up and having a weird stain blob on my cheekbones.

However, I have it all down pat now, since I’ve been using it often after I received it in January. The soft, round applicator is perfect for lip application, but to use it on your cheeks, I dab the applicator directly to the cheek bones, and blend (dab) with my ring finger. It’ll feel wet (like water, duh) when you’re dabbing it in, but it’ll dry up and leave a nice stain to the cheeks. You can also layer it until you get the desired pigment colour.

For my lips, I also use the applicator and apply a couple of dabs to the bottom lip, and blend the rest in with my finger. I don’t like a ton of colour on my lips, and this just adds a subtle amount of pink. Lip-and-Cheek-Glow-on-lips

I have read reviews in the past about Benefits Bentints, but they are more like a runny texture and more vibrant in colour – where as the Dior Lip & Cheek Glow is a bit thicker, gel consistency smells amazing and most likely would be easier to work with than a more liquidy finish. I can’t compare the two though, as I haven’t tested the Benetints for myself.

The finished look, with my laundry bin and hair dryer just hanging out in the background.

Tech Museum of Innovation, San Jose

Tech-Museum-headerWhile living here is still relatively new, I wanted to experience it before I took it for granted. Soon enough, we’d be living here for ten years and haven’t experienced many of the local touristy spots.

Tech-Museum-excitedThis is my excited face. I couldn’t wait to go in. I had a feeling it would be like the Ontario Science Centre The Guy and I went to a number of years ago. Although April Showers should bring May flowers, Mother Nature here in California likes to think it’s summer year round.

Tech-Museum-downstairsI was going to first say that the Tech Museum of Innovation would be a fantastic spot to take your kids (or people of any age — since we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves) here when it rains. But it doesn’t rain! So come on by anyway, and explore what’s inside!

Tech-Museum-nerd-pkGot our nerdy headsets on which ended up recording our brain activity while we walked around the exhibits, so we could look back on it later. I received quite a few stares from the people who hadn’t realized it was available, one person asked me if I was part of some sort of project! We only wore the headsets for about 45 minutes, I couldn’t wear it any longer — I was starting to get a brutal headache from the thing pinching my ear and ill-fitting my head.

Tech-Museum-bodymeHere’s the second part of the body metrics thing we were wearing, telling us how we were feeling. I wasn’t anxious though, I was having tons of fun! Perhaps I was feeling nervous because of the next exhibit we went to: the earthquake simulator! Gah!

Tech-Museum-earthquakeI took the advice of a staff member to check out the earthquake simulator. It was terrifying. Especially if you hadn’t experienced one before. The kids who hopped on after us all seemed to love it and stay on for each additional earthquake that was happening. But when you realize how destructive it could be it hits home and frightens you. I could barely stand up without holding onto the safety bar they had available for us. Me and my husband’s face dropped as soon as we felt how violent an 8.2 earthquake could really feel. Let me just say I am not ready to face that. I still have no idea where to hide when one strikes. Let alone thinking about grabbing our little dog in the midst of it all. Hoooooo… wee!

Tech-Museum-Jetpack-SimHere’s the husband and I taking our turns on the jetpack simulator which was really fun. You had a 60 seconds to get your red dot lined up with the green dot. Kinda felt like you were floating.

Tech-Museum-astronautOoph! There’s an astronaut.

Tech-Museum-upstairsSo colourful and fun, but a lot of the stuff there was definitely aimed for younger children. Regardless, we still had a ball!

Tech-Museum-creep-face2Haha. I mean, check out the faces we were making at the swap-your-face screen. Here are my eyes, some kids head, and my husbands mouth/beard area.

Tech-Museum-Creep-faceCreepy, and hilarious. I was in tears, laughing so hard!

Tech-Museum-funny-faceThis one too!

Tech-Museum-robotsThis little robot on the right was from the robotic design basics. We totally fell for the talking robot until we realized the young adult sitting on the bench was talking through a microphone. Completely fooled us, and we laughed SO hard when we realized we didn’t necessarily needed to ask it simplistic questions for it to understand. Hilarious, and definitely something kids would absolutely go bonkers for.

Tech-Museum-wattsMy husband, the 5x Ironman Triathlete spends endless hours on his bike every week. It’s not a surprise he can crank up the watts to make everything light up here.

Tech-Museum-thermalThis was another awesome exhibit, it was all thermal. The Guy always jokes around with me that I’m constantly cold (which I am). Truth be told by the thermal exhibit — I certainly am too! And he’s always super over-heated (In case you didn’t know like me, Red = cold, white = warm).

Tech-Museum-loveI took a minute, to spell out LOVE ♥

Tech-Museum-1

Tech-Museum-exhibits

Tech-Museum-bodymetThe Tech Museum of Innovation would be a fantastic spot to check out especially if it’s on a rainy day — rare occasion these days with the California drought.
