Work’s Christmas party

A few co-workers who read my blog, commented on the fact that I didn’t upload to my website in a few days (on Thursday and Friday) and questioned where the Christmas party photos was. So here I am doing one of these photo-posts, I mean I was due for one anyway :)  xmas-lunchThe marketing team went out to lunch, my boss and her daughter who works with us (Hi Aimster!).

christmas-purseI gave Amy and her Mom/My Boss matching mini purses that I found on eBay during the summer. I’ll be doing a full review on the items I’ve found on eBay throughout the year. I just couldn’t do it earlier since they were saved for Christmas presents.

amy-and-i-at-applebeeIf you ever go to Applebee’s, make sure you order the mozza sticks… and share them with someone. 8 of them in one appetizer. Oh my word, so filling, so cheesy, so good.

amysdeskWe love having photo shoots together. Just a little glimpse into our world… a few days ago I went to the other office to visit, and Amy & I were in the basement in this big empty storage room. I started to sing some silly song, and we danced to the tune of my off-beat singing. It was fun :) We clearly have tons of fun together.

Our Staff Christmas party was last Saturday evening, and the outfit I had planned on wearing didn’t work out as well as I had hoped. Plus, the top I bought had ripped at the seams! Thankfully I still had the tags still on, so I returned it to H&M for a full refund.

christmas-party-outfitsI tried on SO many outfits at home, and nothing seemed to be fun enough for me. Too business-like, not party-like enough for my liking. I ended up going back to the mall on Saturday morning, trying on eight freaking dresses at H&M with no luck – continued to browse around the mall for a bit until I found this fun and comfortable sparkly skirt at Costa Blanca, it was 40% off too, which prompted the impulse purchase. It was a good one. I looked similar to what I wore last year for Christmas, but hey — if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I really wanted to wear the same entire outfit but I refrained…

Thankfully the weather cooperated on Saturday night. We were supposed to get some freezing rain, so I bought my boots just in case. The boyfriend came with me this year to our Staff Christmas party, which was good — he missed last years as he was out of town for work setting up peerless mounts. I didn’t get a photo of us together, oops. But did manage to get a few photos of me and a few co-workers though!

Juliester-and-I-Dec2012Julie and I :) I ended up going to Julie’s house on Saturday night for a little Christmas get-together. Super fun :)

Patrick-and-IYay Patrick and I!

Our summer co-op student (Patrick) ended up coming, which was SO nice. The venue was different this year than all of the previous years since I’ve worked there, which was a nice change — especially with the live band and not just a DJ. The music was a little retro with some swing music put into the mix. Patrick asked me if I knew how to swing, and I of course said no.  That’s when he raced me to the dance floor and oh my word, that’s where I learned how to swing dance for the first time. I had a perma-smile on my face, it was sooo fun!
swing-dancingThanks for the snap-shots L!

I’m taking little Christmas break from blogging. Talk to you all very soon, enjoy your Christmas!

Funny moments in December

I need to start documenting the funny things that happen in my life more often. These two incidents happened a day apart from one another.

Three of us girls were walking through the building and there’s one spot in our office which is like a maze, and you can’t see/hear people coming around the corner. One of my co-workers was telling us she had the sorest toe. She said she took off her sock, saw it bleeding and then realized she hadn’t been to get a pedicure in a while. Because of this, her pinky toe nail was cutting into her other toe making it bleed. As soon as she finished those last words, we walked around the corner to find a middle-aged man with a smirk on his face as we passed by him in the hallway. As soon as we were in the clear, we all giggled uncontrollably. I don’t know if the man knew WHICH girl had the “nasty toe” but it was sooo funny seeing his face after he clearly heard the entire story.

Another co-worker mentioned her period gets heavy, especially in the night times. I piped up and told her I had a trick! One other girl said “Oh I know, you double up… right?” No! I said… even better! I put one on normally, and then I stick one on sideways behind me! I don’t think the girls literally fell to the floor laughing, as quickly as they did. Then the CEO came over, so I had to re-tell her the story… My eyes at this point were full of laughter tears and my face was tomato red from not breathing properly from laughing so much. Then? Oh then, my boss asked what was so funny. So through the giggles I managed to tell the story one more time, and just continue to laugh really really hard.

I swear if someone had one of those ESET Smart security from softwaresecuritysolutions.com installed in our office, they’d have a ball laughing at all of our shenanigans.

His Christmas present!

I’ve been impatiently waiting to blog about Scott’s Christmas gift for months now.

This present was the most stressful gift I’ve given him in the 7 years we’ve been together. Usually we don’t spend much on each other at all. Just buy thoughtful gifts year round and do the same during Christmas. It’s been difficult organizing this all on my own. Usually we go back and forth debating about dates, vacation time and everything else that goes with flight bookings, dog-sitting etc.

I don’t know where I had come up with the idea — in fact, it was supposed to be his Birthday gift but it wasn’t organized in time and I was so unsure, since I’ve never really been a huge organized planner. I wrapped the present in mid-December and asked him each day if he’d like to open it. I WAS DYING to see his reaction, I’m telling you!! Each day he asked me a series of questions. Some too good, that would give away the surprise, so I rigged my answers as carefully as possible, to throw him for  a loop.

Finally, this morning he opened his light-weight, large, and ever so disguised Christmas present from me.

pack-your-suitcaseA TRIP! A trip to Old Quebec City!

Still not home in Newfoundland yet. So expect more blog posts from me through the next few days. We ARE going home though. It just sucks because Scott is working every.single.day. Poor bugger. Well, poor me too – I’m alone during Christmas! HAHA. I do have the internet radio playing Christmas music, and Alfie’s here with me. So I’m not completely alone.

Happy Tibb’s Eve all yee Newf’s!
