Fitness Recap: Crushin V2’s and 3’s

climbing selfieFor the past 2 weeks it doesn’t seem that I like to blog on Friday’s and Monday’s anymore. Oops.

Yin yoga last Tuesday focused primarily on the lower half of the body, holding deep poses for an unlimited amount of time. It felt uncomfortable, and what I thought was painful. However the yoga teacher talked us through the deep stretches, saying pain, and sensation are two completely different things. The mind gets busy, starts analysing the sensation you’re feeling and overcomplicates it. She said we needed to calm our minds, and embrace the sensation.

The sensation is your body telling you something — warmth, cooling, pain. Your thoughts convert the sensations into feelings of perhaps, pain. You think you need to “get out” but perception is how you view it. You have to quieten your busy mind. Which is easy for me to do if I’m hanging out in savasana mode (aka adult nap time), but when you’re in a deep ass stretch and your hips are angry, your mind clearly perceives it as pain. It wasn’t overbearing but I did need to take a lot of deep breaths. When the class was over, I felt incredible. If I dare say so, it was the best yoga class I have attended. Ever.

Little hippy-ish, but I went with it. Even though my mind kept telling me to get my legs the eff out of that pose. I’ve been enjoying yoga before I head into a bouldering session. It just elongates the body and loosens up the joints, muscles and especially my hips (my right one isn’t so flexible).

Monday June 2: 75 minutes of “noon” yoga, then 2 mile run in the evening in 19:11

Tuesday June 3: 75 minutes of yin yoga, 1 hour bouldering, where I finally conquered that orange V2 route!!!

Wednesday June 4:  National Running Day!

Thursday June 5: 75 minute power yoga & 30 minutes bouldering

Friday June 6: Off

Saturday June 7: 3.6 mile run with The Guy! (outdoors!)

Sunday June 8: Off

Sheena asked me what I was doing for National Running Day which happened on Wednesday June 4. Since I’m getting more into running again, I thought I’d challenge myself and go for my longest run of my entire life. I did a trail run back in 2010/2011 that was 9km long, and I knew I wanted to get into the double digits eventually (ahem a few years later). I didn’t care that I needed to stop 53 times, nor did I care how long the dang run took me. But I wanted to do it. So I did.

A few #SpiffykermsStyle outfits that I thought I’d include in here too:

A running at the gym sort of attire, primarily to wick sweat away from my body and keep me as content as possible. Lululemon run swiftly tech tank, gap sports bra, MPG leggings, Ironman Canada socks, and some Mizuno sneakers.

workout gearWhat I wear to yoga and bouldering. Since I don’t sweat like a beast as when I run, I can wear regular cotton bottoms (from Lululemon) and a racerback, also from lululemon. Bra is… same gap one. Recycle-cycle!

Isn’t it funny when your boulder problem is now a warm up? Last week I posted about an orange V2, and I hop on it no problem and complete it. Then I worked on this yellow one, which didn’t take much effort (a few tries in back-to-back days and I got it). I need something harder :) Maybe I’ll hop on a V4 this week.bouldering, climbing, climb, V2, V3

Let me know what you’ve accomplished last week, or what your goals are for the upcoming week.

Peonies and shopping

I’m kinda glad I don’t have to be anywhere today. After 6 days of workouts (with 2 & 3 workouts/day), I’m needing a break. Even my butt is sore! I’m blaming that one on the yoga because hoo-wee, that “power yoga” stuff is hard man. I sweat just as much there as I would at CrossFit if you can believe it. Thankfully not all classes are power yoga.

pink peoniesChatted with my Mom earlier yesterday, and I was stressing out a little about planning out trip home to Newfoundland. She told me that I should go treat myself to something, which I did at Trader Joes. Ah, Mom’s always know best. I bought some $6.99 pink peonies. I couldn’t find them at the one by our house. But I popped into a different location and there they were. House smells great!

I’m heading out to this one strip mall that has Nordstrom Rack, and the Nike Outlet store to do a bit of looking around :)

The start to our wedding reception | Sponsored

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Millennial Central for MY M&M’S. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to thank me for my participation.

I mentioned in a previous post about how I’m a candy ambassador. So Sweet. Pun intended. When the doorbell rang I was expecting some household items The Guy ordered online the previous weekend. But there it was in all its glory. My dream come true: a huge bag of candy, delivered at my doorstep.  This is the beginning of planning our wedding reception back home in Newfoundland, towards the end of this summer. Since we planned our wedding in record time: 6 days, we didn’t really invite that many people to witness our vows and the beginning of our marriage.

Last weekend we finally ordered our wedding Thank You cards, all 100 of them for the 20-something people in attendance. Hey, they’re generic and don’t say the date of the wedding on them, so I’m sure we can use them in the future.

As for our wedding reception, The Guy needs to get his arse in gear and figure out if he’s going to do an Ironman this Fall. If he chooses to do so, we’ll have to push our reception to July. If not, back to a day in August/September. Starting to stress! Even though it’s not going to be a huge event, but simply a fun BBQ in my parents back yard with tons of loved one’s. It still gives me butterflies, as I have no idea where to even start.

my mmsHot diggity dang, that’s a huge 5lb bag of candy that we’re going to cart back home. The Guy asked me how I’m doing to do it, which I’m not sure yet. To which he replied “fuel for my biking?” That’s something a triathlete would say, don’t you think? No sir, this will not be wasted while you are on your bike. These candies will be appreciated!

You betcha bottom dollar I gave these M&M’S a taste test as soon as they arrived. No different than any other delicious M&M’S you’ve consumed.Wedding MMs

I ordered them in red, white and gold as those were the colours we had for our wedding decorations. I think those are some classy colours that I won’t get sick of. The yellow colour isn’t what I expected as I was trying to mimic the colours of our Christmas wedding. It wasn’t a pearled golden as shown online. It’s a pure mustard colour. But hey, I think it looks pretty decent.

I’ve come up with a plan on how I’d like these presented as wedding reception favours. Either in gold tins, or in small white patterned paper bags. I mentioned this in my previous M&M’S post but if you want to have them pre-packaged when you order them, you can do so in:

  • Silver Favor Tins
  • Elegant Lace Favor Bags
  • Party Favor Packs
  • Bulk Products

Of course, I chose the bulk order, to get more bang for my buck. MY M&M’S are perfect for all aspects of planning and celebrating a wedding reception. From personalized favours to bridesmaid gifts to using MY M&M’S in wedding decor, the options are nearly endless for adding a special unique touch to the special day. And they ship to CANADA!
