#SpiffyClaus came to town

A number of months ago, I knew I wanted to do something special for the Newfoundland YouTuber’s back home. It’s a little difficult to gather everyone together at once, but I thought the prime-time would be right after Christmas to have a little get together and catch-up while I was home. Although, I’m only getting around to publishing the post now, because of this reason and the fact that it was difficult to sit down at my computer and write a cheerful post when I wasn’t feeling up to it. It’s only been 5.5 weeks since my Father has passed, but each day is different, so I thought I’d hop on here this morning and tell you how the #SpiffyClaus event went down! :)

BoxesI contacted a few of my favourite Canadian beauty and PR companies, asked if they wanted to participate and send samples/goodies for the gift bags I would be handing out to the girls. Then asked for it all to be delivered to my parents place Newfoundland. Annnnd, this is what I was greeted with, when I arrived back on Christmas Eve. Woah!

Arial-shotOn the 28th of December, I ended up putting together the gift bags for everyone. My Mom helped pack the bags with me, and my Dad helped me balance our dining room chairs so I could get this aerial shot of it all, haha.

FarleySo many favourites from the gift bags.

Baggies

MintedFarley Co outdid themselves with a ton of goodies, but I love the huge bottles of Bioderma, and especially the personalized Minted notebooks with everyone’s YouTube username on them. They’re all matching!

Coffee-Matters

Coffee-Matters2I suggested to the Newfoundland YouTuber girls that we all meet up for an evening coffee on December 29 at a local coffee shop. We ended up going to Coffee Matters on Harvey Road, St. John’s. Fun fact, this was the same coffee shop that my husband and I met up with our justice of the peace, the day before we got married! I think everyone had an awesome time, I mean —why wouldn’t they? Lol. They all got two sets of goodie bags because everything wouldn’t fit in one gift bag. It was awesome! And so nice to catch up with them all, I hadn’t seen them in a few months.

Look at the loot each person received: Everyones-goodie-bags

If you haven’t watched the YouTube video that went up about it, here’s mine!

H&M Beauty Haul

HM-Beauty-HaulGuys. I’m a huge sucker for packaging. I placed two sets of H&M Beauty orders since I’ve been back in California. Can’t stop!

I’m going to have to try everything out this week, and see how I like it, and if I recommend it or not. I’m excited to try out all the goodies. While my neighbour from Canada (Zach) was here, I put some of the new H&M body items in his bathroom to try out. He liked it so much, I told him to take it back to Newfoundland with him. He was happy enough with it!

There was only one minor issue with my orders, one cream blush I ordered came sealed in a box, and said it was the colour I ordered. But when I opened it, it ended up being a different colour. Rather than exchange and send back the product and have it be costly to mail back, I kept it.

Onto the haul!HM-Beauty-hand-creamH&M Conscious hand creams: white tea and peppermint, and sweet lemon.

HM-goodiesH&M way to glow bronzing powder (limited edition, no longer online), eye makeup remover pads, brush cleanser spray and detangling comb.

HM-MascaraH&M high and mighty mascara (limited edition, buy it now if you want it!)

HM-Haul-beautyMicellar water, pure definition mascara, best curlfriend mascara, nail colour remover pads, cream blush, revelation body lotion, intuition shower cream

HM-BB-creamH&M BB cream beauty balm. Let’s hope the shades matches me!

HM-Body-scrub-and-creamH&M intuition body scrub and intuition body cream

HM-HandwashLast bits from H&M: White tea and peppermint hand wash x2, Intuition shower cream, revelation body lotion, intuition body lotion.

Any of the items I picked up interest you? The only things I’ve tried this weekend was the shower creams so far. They smell amazing, and unisex too, given the fact my male friend liked it too.

By the way, unfortunately these items aren’t available to my Canadian pals, since you can’t shop at all on the H&M Canada website which defeats the entire purpose of having an online ‘store’. Though the first time I heard of H&M beauty launched, was back in Canada. So I know they are in certain H&M stores across Canada, good luck!

Valentine’s Day Sunset Bike Rides!

Sunset Bike RidesValentine’s Day. Bike Rides. Especially at sunset? Can’t get any better than that. Gotta say you guys, riding our bikes together has got to be one of the most fun things.

Alfie-meWhy didn’t I get a bike sooner? Why didn’t anyone remind me how fun it is to go bike riding?

I mean, I’m not even afraid of the clipless (or are they called clip-in?) pedals? Sheesh, so much easier to go. And the pedals can be adjusted to be harder to step out of the pedal (scary), or easier (safer, for me…). We toured around lookin’ like pros, all suited up. I have to say, wearing the entire cycling getup doesn’t feel too bad at all. I thought I’d feel/look foolish because I don’t have a biker-bod (aka no muscles in my legs lol). But I’m feelin’ pretty good. It is a little funny feeling wearing those padded shorts for the first few times, though.

LosGatos-TrailWe cycled up, and left the house around 4pm because: traffic = sketchy on a bike, and cars aren’t that nice to cyclists. Plus we live in a busy area of town, and navigating through that was nerve-wracking a little. But it’s all part of the process I suppose!

New-BikeHowever, I did have my first spill on the bike on Valentine’s. I may have even cried a little. I mean, the car was being totally impatient next to us, and I was unclipped going as slow as a snail. Anyway, I suppose if you think shedding a few tears is handling it like a champ, then I guess I handled it like a champ. haha.

McDonalds-pigoutAs per our ten year Valentine’s Day tradition, we had to clue it up with a big meal from McDonald’s. You guys know the story on how that goes, right? It was excellent.

I’ll be blogging more this coming week! Come back soon!
