Beauty Box Ban

I have gone on a beauty box ban for the next little while. I’ve unsubscribed from all of the Canadian boxes offered. Even though I’ve been quite tempted to try out SeasonsBox which is $34.90/month (ouch at the price mark, right? That’s why I didn’t even start a subscription).

It seemed all throughout last year the Canadian beauty subscription boxes just hiked their prices, which one — I wasn’t a fan of and two – I just got way too many samples and couldn’t take the time to use them all up.

I’ve cancelled all of my subscriptions in late 2012 and placed an order on Glymm’s website with what I thought was using my Glymm points. I ended up paying out of pocket with my credit card, noticed right away and called them up to cancel my order. Seeing how it was $150 I most certainly wanted to use my points that I used from referrals to make that purchase. Initially it was supposed to take 7-10 business days. I gave them 14 and then made the first, of many phone calls asking where my refund was.

It took SUCH a long time to get my refund, countless phone calls, e-mails and tweets. Since Glymm has a third party looking after their finances it took a silly amount of time to get the refund back on my credit card. I placed the order late November, and didn’t get my refund until the beginning of Feburary. I was livid. From what was once my favorite beauty subscription, ended up being bottom of the barrel for me by the end of it. I was getting nowhere. As soon as I brought up the Better Business Bureau I finally got somewhere. My refund was processed within days and a refund was in my credit card account that week.

Enough venting on Glymm, since they’re bankrupt now. I’ve spent all my points and unsubscribed from them and every other box and for the last few months I’ve been using up all of the goodies and samples from my boxes. A few months ago I ended up doing an “empties” video and showe you what I liked/disliked about each product. Would anyone be interested in seeing an “empties” blog post?
