Devoted post to my Momma

It’s my Mom’s birthday today. The photographer extraordinare herself (wonder if my Daddio himself bought her an extra sd card for her fancy rebel?). Seriously I wish that I had her skills and patience, with regards to photography. I’ve always wanted a fancy SLR camera, but of course wouldn’t have the patience to fiddle with it to make it take the best. pictures. ever. She has so many photos back home at the house, framed and matted. She has even given them away as presents. It was a bit overwhelming to walk into my parents house back in Newfoundland and literally see the walls covered in photos, all taken by her.

There’s even a few embarrassing one’s of me modeling with head shots. My boyfriend said my skin used to be so smooth “back then” in 2001. C’mon! I’m not wrinkly now! I wish I could post some photos here to show you of the Newfoundland scenery and the wonderful macro flower shots she’s taken over the past little while with her new camera. But I don’t have any on this computer.

So, to finish this off — Happy Birthday Mom!! Enjoy your post–birthday bath treats that I gave you while I was home! Have a soak in the tub and enjoy your day. Hope you read this! :) ♥ ♥ ♥

Oldies but goodies

I don’t know when I started listening to old music.

My parents never really played their own music in the house that I remember. Just the crappy AM (only!) radio station that I despised, especially when they played the Irish music on Sunday mornings when I took a bath (it was located in the bathroom of all places). I didn’t even know there was an FM notch on the radio until I was in middle school.  I remember when we were sitting in music class and overheard the other girls talk about New Kids On The Block. I literally thought that there were new kids on the block and going to attend our school. Lame! I didn’t let on that I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about either.

What brought this post on, was I was listening to the radio at work and one of my favorite songs by Louis Armstrong came on; What a Wonderful World. I remember when Napster was available in the 90’s and I downloaded a lot of music, my play list was so so diverse from Foo Fighters, Jack Johnson, Queens of The Stone Age, to Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday. I disliked putting my music on random because like I said, it was such a different genre of music playing and just doesn’t go together. I always sorted my music out into play lists.

I should get back all my old music. I use three computers (one at work, a desktop at home plus a laptop) and also an external hard drive. I think the simplest thing to do would be put it all onthe external hard drive and listen to it all from there.

Shortn’ sweet

And just like that, I’m back in Ontario like nothing has changed.

Unfortunately this trip to Newfoundland was an unexpected one so it wasn’t exactly a vacation time per say. I probably shouldn’t have even told anyone I was going to be home because I was there to spend time with my parents. It wasn’t a time for socializing that’s for sure. Let’s just not get into details, shall we? This is a fun blog and not a serious one about what’s going on in my life, even though some times I’d like to tell you all exactly what’s going on and spill my guts. I’m just not that type of person, I’m quite private and it probably won’t be happening on this blog. lol. That’s that then.

I ended up flying out of Toronto on Wednesday at midnight and flew back this morning. I’m running on two hours sleep at the moment, and on top of that — after a full day of work I have to go to my dentist and get my filling replaced!

I don’t know when I’m going to be able to get something to eat (besides lunch) because my mouth is totally going to be frozen.

It’s funny, every time I visit back home the weather is total garbage, guaranteed. No matter the time of year I go, it’ll always be RDF (rain, drizzle and fog) and holy, was I ever freezing my BUNS off! It was a bit ridiculous for the middle of the summer. I didn’t end up wearing any of my shorts, and I always wore socks — who wears socks in the summer!? Not I obviously, I actually had to go buy some at Zellers which I doubled up on my feet and wore them inside a pair of leather shoes and since it was raining … they ended up dying my socks and looking totally mental. Well, that was a waste of my Mom’s money.

I did end up buying a couple of things at one of my favorite Canadian stores — Winners. I will perhaps post photos when I get everything together. Exciting!

Well, off I go — back onto the regular mundane things in my life. Have a great Tuesday all!
