Post weekend wrap up on humpday

transitionOops! I totally forgot to tell you guys what I did this weekend. Mainly Sunday though because Saturday was just full of fail. I was so sleep deprived on Sunday since we went to bed so late preparing for my boyfriend’s first tri of the season, and we also had to wake up at 6AM in order to get to the race on time, which was pretty close to Toronto.

The race was a disaster. We had to park about what seemed 4km’s away from the site with all of his bike, swim and run gear. Of course, I was the one burdened down with it all afterward, carrying it all around during the race so I wouldn’t miss a snap shot of my guy. I just didn’t want to have to walk back to the car and back to the race site, because I think I did that last year and missed him on the bike!

It was such a nasty day out too. It was incredibly gusty and the wind was enough to knock me down some times. I couldn’t imagine what it was like in the water! Poor boyfriend got a few mouthfuls of water coming in to the final leg of the swim, and didn’t do as well as he had hoped for the 750 meter.

My boyfriend mentioned he, and everyone else didn’t go as fast due to the incredibly windy day on the 30km bike. He said it literally felt dangerous. Plus there were a bunch of new racers (of course — being that it is the beginning of the race season) and they wouldn’t listen to the other athletes on the road. Ignoring commands such as “ON YOUR LEFT” when you’re trying to pass a person. You can see my boyfriend sprinting to the finish line in one of the photos I posted below. There, the guy actually some what pushed him into the sponsor banners, unknowingly.  And whatta ya know, he was a newbie. (Boyfriend is in the grey suit).

I failed at getting photos too, because people kept stepping out into the road (HUGE pet peeve) and blocking my view. Hence the photo of boyfriend’s blurry and only bike snap shot of the race. Boo!! I now leave you with some photos. (Such a negative post, lol sorry!)

Money talks

Shopping online is seriously the easiest thing in the world, and I’ve been doing it for about two years for everyone’s present (birthdays, Christmas, father/mother’s day and anniversaries). It gives me time to shop way in advance, and also scour the net for e-deals, and pay the lowest price on an item I have my eye on.

gollygee

Etsy (etsy.com) is one of my favourite go–to places for home made cards. Since Father’s Day is coming up in a few weeks, I just ordered this card for my Dad. Golly gee daddio I say! I think he received a hand made Etsy card last year, too, as a matter of fact I’m 100% positive that he did. My Mom on the other hand gets the hallmark one’s since I sometimes forget that Etsy exists. The seller that I bought my Dad’s card from, has some really funny parody stuff that I’d love to buy, and in fact I’ve bought some Thank You cards from this person as well, in 2008 some time. Let’s hope it arrives early enough for me to mail out to Daddio. I’m excited :)

earringsEtsy is addictive (once you’ve re–found it again). Once a year I get obsessed with it and have a new pile of stationary (HUGE stationary fan anyone? Raise your hand!) and I’m set for the year. Naturally, they have more than just home made cards, and stationary. I’ve been eyeing the cute little rose bud earrings (on the left. click the image to bring you to the seller’s site) for oh … a half hour. May buy them, may not. We’ll see. Why is the seller in Ontario Canada, yet the prices are in USD?  I’m noticing a trend here with dark rich purples. I’m buying a lot of “things” lately, that are that color. Must be my new fav hey?

The internet is seriously becoming my favourite thing in life. Okay, maybe not that drastic, but it’s so easy to buy something on the interwebs now days. Especially when it doesn’t have to be specifically linked to your bank account. I paid for this Fathers Day card using my PayPal account which is filled with a few bucks from paid blogging. I think even now you can pay by interac online, can’t you? I know you can now do that in taxi cabs! Everything is evolving, I tell you. It blows my mind. I’m not one to use interac, ever because of all the fraudulent scams that goes hand in hand with using a debit card. Since working at a Financial Institution, I’ve seen people get scammed out of hundreds and even thousands of dollars plus Visa or MasterCard, Pre-paid credit card or well, any credit card for that matter, is much more secure and you’ll always get your money back. So people! Put your debit cards away if you’ve got the discipline to pay off your Credit Cards monthly and go for credit! I advise the no annual fee one’s, personally. Why should I or any customer pay to promote a credit card company?  Plus, using a credit card will improve your credit score a lot too. Smart thinkin I say.

How do you pay for your things whether it be online, or just at the grocery store? Do you use credit, debit or plain ol’ cash? I’d love to know how safe you are with money what you do.

Smile!

Okay. I’ve got an appointment for tomorrow with the dentist as I mentioned in my previous post as to why. Also the previous post was super long. So in case you don’t want to read it, I have a leaky filling. Of course, when I heard the words out of the dentist mouth: “replacement of silver filling” my tooth automatically stops hurting! Instead, the other side of my mouth is a dull yet mild ache. Silly subconscious brain. So in lieu of having my gum’s being numbed (not sure if they’re actually going to do this tomorrow or not) I’ve decided to crack open a new box of Crest White Strips. Since I’ve got two boxes which expire next May (which really is a long ways away, but still — you can’t use them that often!) I decided to whiten my teeth for the dentist. I think my teeth are pretty sensitive to these white strips, and apparently they’re banned in the UK (for obvious reasons. It can’t be that great for your enamel). But I asked the dental hygienist and she seemed to O–K it for my usage.

I don’t even know why I’m using the crest white strips. I vitrually got them for free with the coupons ontop of a sale at one point. Family and friends have always commented on my naturally white teeth before I even used them. I guess I like even a brighter than average smile, I suppose. I’m pretty happy about getting my filling replaced. It’s pretty embarassing since it’s huge and when I smile you can really notice it now that my teeth are straight. It used to be behind my other molar which got pulled out due to over crowding pre–braces. Now? It’s noticeable. Blessing in diguise I say!
