I’ve been subscribing to Loose Button‘s Luxe Box each month. This has been my third consecutive month for deluxe samples that I receive in the mail once a month for a fee of $10 (per month). You can also sign up for a three month trial for $29 – no real discount but you don’t have to remember to sign up each month at least. It’s also free shipping. I ended up doing the three month thing. Each month seems to get better and better, with name brands that I’ve actually heard of.

Basically you sign up to receive a surprise box in the mail during the middle of the month. Mine arrived yesterday, and I did a video of me opening up on camera. Excuse my excitement and semi-awkwardness.

Even though for some reason my gift was re-directed to STRATFORD yesterday, today in the mail came a little birthday surprise from my Bestie who lives 6 hours away. I can’t wait to go burn this candle that smells like amazing and I can’t stop sniffing it. This weekend I’m definitely going to spend a little dough at Mexx with the gift card she gave me!

On my lunch break today I decided to go into the mall to see if I could snag any deals with my Mexx gift card, I ended up popping into BBW as well. Not just 50% off like the sign above says, but I got 75% off the discontinued soaps. $1.50~ EACH! Did you know that when you get those coupons on your receipt that they never expire? I had a Save $10 when you spend $30 on my receipt from October 2010 and it was of course still valid. My entire purchase came to $24. TWENTY FOUR DOLLAHS!

I got my hair cut yesterday after work. I went to the same salon that I used to go to about two years ago. Before I switched and went to the guy who screwed up my hair in April. I asked this new guy to not cut a lot off, but cut a lot off at the same time to make it healthy. I didn’t want anymore layers because it was looking stringy. This is what he came up with! Straight across cut, that looks thicker at the bottom.

I used to have really long hair about 6 years ago when I first met Scott. Since then my hair has basically stayed the same length, a little longer than shoulder length. I can’t seem to grow it out any longer than that or it looks bad. I get regular trims every 9 weeks so I can let it grow out instead of getting it cut every 6-8 which maintains the length. I get the split ends cut off. However, I do wash and style my hair every day. I tried for about a month once to just wash it every 3rd day and I just couldn’t do it anymore. I love fresh, clean hair lol. OH THE HAIR DRAMA. I’m so sick of it. Grow already!

For the past while or so I’ve been needing some warm winter boots. I know it’s not even close to being winter yet but having it go down to 4º is close enough for me to want to keep really warm even if I’m only outside to walk 10 feet to my car.

Last year I ended up wearing my hiking boots all winter long, which was fine since I didn’t slip on any ice or anything. But this year I want something different. Hiking boots aren’t appropriate for anything else except hiking, plus I don’t want to wear them out.

That and the fact I would like to wear my heels to work, instead — arrive in styleeee. Know what I mean? But that also means falling on my face if I hit a patch of black ice. Classy.

Therefor, I found myself looking at Whooga boots. Ever hear of those? They’re like Uggs but a lot less expensive.  I think the name is pretty fun to say too. It makes me smile. The  UK based company is actually hosting a giveaway for a free pair of Whooga Boots that happens at the end of each month if you sign up for their newsletter (linked on their homepage). Have you ever done that with shoes?

I hadn’t considered it until I found my favorite pair of flats a few years back. I bought them on Brown’s Store in Toronto and had them shipped to me. I wore them way too often and failed to realize that Seychelle’s, the makers of the shoe had stopped making them that very same year. I knew this because I wanted a back up pair, and searched the internet for ages looking for “Moment of Truth – Seychelles” it was the style name, and brand name of the shoe. I ended up contacting the company itself and of course found out the news that they’re not longer being made.

Literally, about 2 weeks ago I just happened to go browsing on Aldo’s website, which I never do because why would I? They have so many stores in the mall I can just walk in and see what they have. Well, I went inside one of the stores at the mall and tried on a pair of black flats that ended up being too small. I was semi-interested in them and went to Aldo’s website and searched for more flats, and found these!!!

They were $100 and there’s no way I’m spending $100 at freakin’ ALDO.

Well, because I’m a shoe-stalking freak I e-mailed myself the link to the shoes and kept checking them each and every day until they went on sale. First the pink-nude version went on sale last week for $69.98. I was all “aww bummer” but then I decided to randomly check (on my nightly routine of checking Aldo’s website) last night and the black one’s ended up being on sale at $69.98 as well! Heck yeah. So of course I whipped out my credit card and paid for them on the spot.

I wonder when they’ll arrive? I’m really excited. Oh, and did you know that if you sign up for Aldo’s e-mailing list you’ll receive a 10% off coupon for signing up? Cheeyah, I know! I got such a good deal! I’m overly excited about this purchase but you don’t understand how long I’ve been waiting for another pair (even though they’re a different color) of these shooooooooooooes. Despite working at a financial institution, some days I just can’t be bothered to walk to an ATM and deposit a check that someone has given me. There’s this thing called ACH check payment processing where you no longer have to deposit your checks at the bank. They can be processed instantly. Neat huh?

I went shopping on my lunch break today at Winners and scored some deals on BCBG flats. Sidenote: I stepped into a BCBG store in West Edmonton Mall and noticed the articles of clothing were $300+. So scoring the black flats for under a quarter of the price was a good deal for me. More shoes you ask? Yessssssss. I can’t help it. I also got a faux leather jacket. I need to be stylin’. Maybe I’ll post pictures tomorrow…

Until about 1pm today I volunteered with work by handing out balloons and giving pony rides at a kids carnival for one of the University Homecoming days. Curious George was there and he was handing out children’s books. I grabbed two for my little nephews back home. Hope they love him, because I enjoyed it when my Dad used to read me those books “way back when”. It ended up raining as soon as the carnival was done at about 1pm, so we didn’t have to volunteer/attend at the next event being the Rugby games.

I headed out into my car and wanted to do some bargain hunting so I went to Giant Tiger (Newfie, this place is like Pipers back home) a super junky store that you really don’t want to be in. (Side note: Why do they always seem to be in the sketchy part of towns too?) I used to sock up on free toilet paper by using $1.00 off coupons but they since raised the prices to $1.29. Well they didn’t end up having any for the second time around. So maybe they stopped carrying the 4-packs? I have no idea and I wasn’t about to ask.

I had no idea what to do, so I just moseyed around the store for a bit and found some basic flats on sale for $7 and bought them. I know, random right? They’re definitely going to fall apart within three weeks, but I think I just liked the price. Plus, they’re not even that ugly!

After the Boyf woke up from partying the night before with a buddy of his (I won’t even dare tell you what time of the night morning he came home ;)) we headed out to a grand opening of Future Shop to check out some deals. Such a guy store, isn’t it? I am always bored within 2.3 minutes of being inside. But anyway we ended up going next door to Walmart, again — to the electronics section because that’s what the Boyf does when we head into Walmart. I of course, had to entertain myself some so I went to the crappy section of shoes once again. What is with me? But I noticed some nude heels that just so happened to be on a steep clearance, and purchased these beasts for $5.00! We have a wedding to attend in the next few weeks so these may very well be a one-time wear, or they may end up lasting — who really knows. I just never wear heels because I’m not all that used to them. I’m definitely excited that I didn’t have to go on the hunt at Aldo or something and pay $60 for a pair that I’ll only wear once or twice a year, seriously.

That’s all the news I have. That’s all I did this weekend. Summed it up pretty fast and easy (twss — by the way I hate that term. I can’t believe I just acrony’med it.) hey?

I decided on my way to work (yesterday) that I was going in a tad too early and since I forgot my keys and nobody would be there to let me in, I stopped into starbucks and got a decaf Mocha frap. I like that you can customize those now, because the espresso they usually use in the frap’s give me the most painful gut rot. This time? None at all!

The boyf and I went to starbucks over the weekend and noticed they had some cute matte mugs. I saw them at this other location and still had money on my gift card that I won on Jeanine‘s site back in the spring (still haven’t touched my Birthday card yet from Kelly. Yikes, guess I wasn’t kidding when I said I like to indulge once in a while.) Okay, so twice in one weekend.

So here are the pretty mugs, all set up for a model shot with my dollar store place mats. Looks fancy, hey? :) I have some cute dollar store bowls I should show you guys too. They’d go well with my mugs!

It hit 37º and went to 36º right as soon as I got my camera out. Clearly this picture was taken at 5:00pm and not a.m., but I was ridiculous enough to go out for a run in that weather with my running buddy! We did the same loop that I did just the other day. I could not get over the droplets of sweat that was on me after our run. Gross. But the running felt SO good.

Want to know something really random and super annoying? My shift key gets stuck down on this keyboard lately and it makes me angry. It’s taking forever to spell out certain letters than need to be capitalized, such as ‘I’.

Sandal tan!

Painted my nails last night because I haven’t gone for a pedi/mani in over a month. I’m not sure what I think of this blue, on my toes especially. I’m not a bold polish person. But it’s China Glaze — For Audrey. I bought it on Ebay for much cheaper than it sells in stores. Speaking of Ebay. I made a purchase last night and got Essie – Van D’Go (not my nails, image found on google) and OPI Drip Dry (which supposedly works wonderful).

Fingers were nice and nude colored, classic and the way I like it. I like it when someone else does them for me though, I’m a sloppy applier.

To get this perfect shade that I love so much I had to use two different polishes. Base coat was Elf and the top was Sally Hansen. I find that Sally Hansen polishes are fairly crap, and require multiple coats (like 6…) to reach the desired result. But putting a ‘base coat’ color on like Elf’s Fair Pink (for just a buck!) helps make the colors more achievable.

Future Shop was having a Canada Day sale on their website for one day only. I ended up buying the Boyf and I (he picked them out for us) two mice.They arrived yesterday.

Lululemon happened to have a sale on Saturday night. Maybe it was Friday. Either way, it was ridiculously good. On my runs, I either wear my Run: Empower Crops (I have two pairs and one pair are just too unbelievably tight on my stomach that I cannot stand to wear them on a run. But I can wear them working out), and my Run: Zoom Crops, which conveniently have a zippered pocket in the back. Well, they all went on sale — so I decided to get a second pair of Zoom’s for 50% off…. I told my running buddy about it too, and I purchased her a pair. They’re so comfortable. They haven’t arrived yet but I can’t wait!

I’m not sure why they’re shown mid-calf rise. But they just barely cover my knees.
