Open for business!

There hasn’t been a climbing gym around since the last one closed back in 2006. A month after I moved to Ontario the darn place ended up closing. I wasn’t going to travel 45 minutes by car to get to the nearest climbing gym, so I did without it. For five years. That is, until a climbing gym opened (today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) in my city. I went on my lunch break and did some bouldering.

It’s good to be back.

Coming back to climb

Those who work out and have incredibly defined muscles, I’m wondering if they’ve ever been fitness models. Naturally I’m a lean person but it takes me a while to get any sort of definition. When I climbed 5x a week for two years I didn’t even have super defined arms. I did love my stomach though at that time.

I’m being a little vain here today and reminiscing about old photos. Check out this one of me flexing, in my parents basement no less, ha ha!

Psst, that purple tank top cost me fifty cents from Old Navy when they were having a sick sale. lol.

The reason why I bring this up was because on my Facebook page there is a local (meaning 1 hour away) climbing gym wants a figure model or probably a handful of them to volunteer to be on their website. I suppose they’re in the process of updating it with some new images. If only I kept up with climbing I’d totally volunteer. Maybe. I kinda like having my photo taken, hah! It’s not like it’s a bikini contest or bikini models or anything. I always wore long pants and a tank when I climbed.

See? fitness models right tharr. I was on the front page of the local newspaper climbing this route! Too bad I can’t show you the photo. I don’t know where it is. But I had a crazy-face. Maybe I’ll hunt it down.

Either way, I’m super excited for the end of this summer since a climbing gym is opening up minutes from our apartment and I will be able to jump back into it all and start bouldering, climbing and getting stronger again. That, paired up with CrossFit, Soccer and Running I’ll be a machine! Boom!I’m hoping that I can actually get back into it, as much as I was doing it before I moved to Ontario. My strength won’t be there, of course – but really it doesn’t take that long to get back into the swing of things, it’s literally like riding a bike.

Is there any sort of thing that you miss doing from your “younger years”?

Wordless Wednesday and a Random Fact

College edition part 2.

Good ol’ climbing days.

Where’s waldo Nancy?

Playing card games/drinking games at a friends place. My hair looks super thick. How’d that happen?

One of my best climbing friends, who also reads my blog. Hi Johanna :) I’ve shown this photo numerous times. But it’s still a fav.

Random fact: I dislike mixing my meats. Say a turkey and ham sandwich, I personally would never make something like that for myself. Or even a chicken and bacon. No. Not happening. One or the other.

Happy Wednesday!
