His fanciest running shoes

Every second night or so, The Guy and I have been hitting up the gym in the building next to our town house. Unfortunately for me we usually go at 10pm. I’m droopy eyed and slurring my wods at that hour, let alone get ready to run a 5k on a treadmill. But I do it, and then I’m all pumped up full of energy for hours on end. I can’t win ;) I mean, I could go to the gym during the day time when he’s at work. But what fun is that?

The both of us were sent a pair of Mizuno’s each to try out. I am months and months behind on blogging about this, due to the move and all. I’ve asked The Guy, the 5x Ironman Triathlete to write a guest post on what he thinks of the new Prophecy’s, so stay tuned for that in the near future. I received my wave rider’s in October and was wore them to CrossFit a bunch of times when I wasn’t lifting weights (too cushiony for that). The Guy received them in January which was a great time to receive them, since the fall time is his “off season” and he takes a month or so break from all of the races he’s been doing. December/January is usually the time when he starts putting in big miles again but moving to California put things on the back burner for a bit.

Now we can be twinsies. Except he’s been rotating wearing the Mizuno Prophecy’s, a pair of Saucony something’s (they’re all blue) and some New Balance’s. I swear that guy has way more shoes than I will ever have. Where as I’ve been wearing these or my 3 year old nike’s at the gym. Mizuno Wave Rider, Mizuno Prophecy

I’ve been slowly adding mileage each time I’m on the treadmill, I’m up to 1.5 miles or 3k now. Ha ha!!! How lame is that? At least it’s something, I keep telling myself that. It’s hard to get back that kind of stamina without causing an asthma like reaction – but I’ll keep working at it. So far so good.

Two weekends ago we went to Napa Valley to watch the husband’s friends race in their very first marathon, and I have to say I felt a little inspired. As you may already know, I have such a love-hate relationship with running (mostly hate because I feel like I can never run more than 7-8k at a time). However, I kind of want to sign up for a long race and stop running speedy races. Not that I’m speedy by any means, but a 5 or 10k makes me want to run full tilt all the time. I need a nice slow, long run and a half or a full marathon may be the answer.

I’ve been instagramming photos of us at the gym in our my sweet gear. The pink tank is Champion brand, from Target Canada, and the leggings are from Lululemon, on my feet are the Mizuno Wave Rider’s. Mizunos at the gym

I laughed when The Guy said that these were his “fanciest sneakers”. They’re pretty nice, I gotta say.

What time of the day do you usually like to work out?
Ideally, I’d prefer 5-6pm. That’s when I’m the most awake!

What are some of your favourite workout clothes/gear?
I’m a huge fan of nike sneakers, lululemon tanks, and MPG leggings.

  1. You’re looking trim Nancy! Good work!

I love Nike, I know they’re not the best for ethical clothing (or shoes), but my capris are the best I’ve tried. They’ve made it through a complete mud bath (tough mudder) and came out the other side (of the washing machine) in perfect condition still. The quality and longevity is great. I still love salomon trainers.
