Battle of the eReaders

Hypothetical question for you guys and gals out there today. If you had to buy an ebook on your ereader, or iPad which would you choose and why?

I’m not a huge reader myself, which is why I purchased my iPad last summer, and have yet to buy any ebooks. Oops. But I’m wondering what everyone is reading lately? Probably the 50 Shades Of Grey trilogy, am I right?

I don’t talk about my iPad usage all that much, but quite frankly, I use my iPad more often than booting up my old school laptop from 2006. I bring it everywhere with me, whether or not I need it. It’s just so portable and convenient. Plus you don’t need the internet to use the iPad, since I’ve downloaded a ton of free games, and other things that don’t require internet.

Always in my purse. See?

My Mom is a huge reader for example, but I bought a BlackBerry PlayBook for my parents just this past Christmas. I know that a PlayBook or an iPad doesn’t even compare to an eReader and getting the best ebook to read, since they do completely different things. But it’d be interesting to see what kind of eReaders people are buying.

Do you have one? Was it a good buy?

  1. I am currently reading Bringing Yoga to Life on my Kindle & have no idea what my next book will be. I have a Kindle Fire (or I should say Micah does) but I don’t read on it because when I go for long periods of time reading it causes strain. My Kindle looks JUST like a book page when I am reading, JP was skeptical of how great the Kindle could look is amazed with how easy on the eyes it is. :)

Let us know what you decide to read! :)

  2. I have the Kindle Touch and love it. It’s as close as you can get to reading an actual book with less eye strain from backlighting. You will need a case with a reading light or a separate light, though. I just use the one I have for regular books and clip it on my case. I wanted the Kindle Fire, but decided to hold off for an iPad. Plus, the Touch is cheaper, so I won’t be as upset if it gets damaged on the beach. Oh, and with the Kindle iPhone app, I can send my e-books to my iPhone, as well!

  3. Call me crazy, but lately I’ve just been using my smart phone to read books! I have the HTC Raider though. It has a huge screen, so reading on it is fine. I’ve read 50 Shades of Gray and didn’t like it ;p I thought it was boring, lol.

Other than that, I’m reading a book on the Palestine and Israel Conflict. Um yeah. That’s not school related either. I just like learning, hehe.

  4. I just use my iPad – you can’t read with it in direct sunlight, but I have no problem sitting under an umbrella at the beach! I like simplicity, and like that the iPad can do it all – I rarely use my laptop anymore!

  5. I bought a Kobo Touch a few weeks ago and I’m in love with it.

If I try reading on my laptop or phone I get a headache after an hour or so, I haven’t had that issue at all with my Kobo.

I’ve yet to buy any ebooks. I’ve been using my library card to get them right off the library webpage!
