Paid posts gone bad

A while ago, I was checking and moderating comments to see if anyone I knew had commented and possibly gotten stuck through the spam filter which grabbed it up by mistake. Even though it seemed there was a realistic comment in moderation in my spam comments, I anxiously decided to reply back to it since they were offering me to do a paid post for them.

One piece of advice to bloggers who like to do paid posts: NEVER accept these offers from people or companies you have never heard of before. I can’t believe I actually fell for it twice by two different companies. Here is what the commenter wrote:

Seems legit, right? I mean, Jess replied to multiple e-mails when we were figuring out how much I’d get paid. She replied promptly when I showed her a draft of the post, all within 24 hours with e-mailing them to her. Once the post was pushed live I e-mailed her to notify her of such. But alas, no replies. Not for days.

I sent an e-mail every two days (you have to be very persistent with these people! Seriously.), for two weeks asking for a response of some sort.

Some people say it’s “Not worth the money”, “Not worth the hassle”. But I think it’s so wrong for people to contact someone, discuss how much they should paid the blogger (I asked for $25 lol) and not follow through with it! It makes me angry. I posted Jess’s requested key words in this post with the links removed now, it probably has made her enough money already by now.

I should have done some research before even accepting the offer. But after I didn’t hear back from her from a few days I googled Jess Anderson’s real fake name; and I found a couple of similar comments she made on other blogging websites. Just look here, here and here to name a few!

This happened a while ago with a company called Casino something or other, back in November. I didn’t hear from them from weeks and they blamed it on not having funds, which I don’t believe. They should have never contacted people if they didn’t have money in the first place. Eventually I got paid 4 months later after some strong e-mails were sent out. I suggest if  you don’t want to go unpaid for months, that you do not ever accept propositions from unknown companies, no matter how good it looks at first.

I’m pissed at myself for being so naive.

Hiya, I'm Nancy or known as "Legs" due to my quick ability to run past you in soccer. Avid daily watcher of TLC's What Not To Wear, subliminally wanting to be nominated. Living 3,000kms away from family for 4 years and totally fine with it, for now. Brother + wife and 4 boys live in Ireland. Met my nephews once. Summers are filled with outdoor soccer games, and touring around with Boyfriend, being his cheerleader while he competes in Triathlons. Winters are usually spent more time blogging, shopping, and playing indoor soccer. ♥ Summer. I usually blog about everything random that goes on in my busy brain.
